A Florida man was caught on video hanging from a drawbridge for dear life as the bridge separated and was raised to let boats go by on the Intracoastal. It happened on Monday afternoon in Brickell City Centre and one TikToker was watching the events unfold from his window. Creator Michael Angelo Ball (@the.mikeball) was recording the guy as the bridge was raised and lowered back down, and he couldn't believe his eyes. He mentioned there were no police in sight. "Just another day in Miami... 😳," he captioned his video.

President Biden’s job approval rating remains underwater while most Americans disagree with his handling of foreign policy and the economy, according to a new poll. The Gallup survey released Tuesday showed 40% of Americans approve of the overall job Biden is doing, the sixth consecutive poll where that number fell between 40% and 42%. The president’s Gallup approval ratings have been mired in the 40s since August 2022. At the same time, his disapproval marks have stayed in the 50s, hitting 56% in the latest poll. The 80-year-old’s handling of some of the most consequential issues facing the country also...

You’re hanging around a flagpole with your pals in the freezing cold, and one of them triple-dog-dares you to put your tongue on the pole to see if it sticks. Well, lo and behold, it did stick, so now how do you get it unstuck? I’ve thought about this scenario ever since I was a kid and first saw the cinematic classic A Christmas Story. For some reason I decided that this could happen to me one day and if it did, I needed to know how to get my tongue unstuck from a frozen flagpole without having to call...

The number of vessels stuck in a traffic jam outside the Suez Canal rose to 200 Friday as recent efforts to free a cargo ship wedged between the Canal’s two banks failed. Dislodging the stuck ship, the Ever Given, could take up to a week, and the vessel can encounter structural issues while it remains stuck, a salvage expert told the Associated Press (AP). The Suez Canal handles approximately 12% of international trade. Its recent blockage threatens to harm the world economy and poses a disruption to global supply chains, CNBC reported.... The ensuing traffic jams forced several cargo ships...

A box truck got stuck near the top of a treacherous mountain road in Colorado over the weekend, all because he was following his GPS. The rugged mountain road is known as Engineer Pass, and is notorious for being one of the most tricky, treacherous, and steep backcountry roads in the area. The road has a peak elevation of 12,800 feet and requires four-wheel-drive and a high-clearance vehicle. “How they got that far is beyond me,” said Silverton-based Animas Towing & Recovery owner Wayne Barger. “They’re going to need a lot of help,” he said. “It’s in a predicament that’s...

The train hit a tree that had fallen onto the tracks. It hasn’t moved more than 30 hours. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari told CNN that none of the 183 passengers and dozen crew members were injured, but that “conditions further deteriorated with numerous track blockages from snow and fallen trees.” “Due to worsening conditions, area road closures and no viable way to safely transport passengers or crews via alternate transportation, Train 11 stopped in Oakridge, Oregon,” The train had power and enough food on board — for which passengers will not be charged, Amtrak said on Twitter on Monday. But...

**SNIP** That New Year’s Eve an interview with expedition leader Chris Turney was beamed live to Times Square in New York. Two days later, the rescue effort entered a new phase. With no icebreaker able to smash way through, a Chinese helicopter, Xue Ying, or “Snow Eagle”, rose into the air for the first of five flights to ferry passengers from the stricken ship to the Aurora Australis. A core crew remained behind to sail vessel home once conditions allowed. Media interest in the expedition faded after the rescue, but in the year since Turney and his team have been...

WASHINGTON (AP) — In the 4½ years since the Great Recession ended, millions of Americans who have gone without jobs or raises have found themselves wondering something about the economic recovery: Is this as good as it gets? It increasingly looks that way. Two straight weak job reports have raised doubts about economists' predictions of breakout growth in 2014. The global economy is showing signs of slowing — again. Manufacturing has slumped. Fewer people are signing contracts to buy homes. Global stock markets have sunk as anxiety has gripped developing nations. Some long-term trends are equally dispiriting.
