On the cold, clear Sunday morning, Jan. 11, a little more than 160 parishioners and school alumni came to one of the last Masses to be celebrated at St. Malachy’s, East New York. Many gave thanks for its 154-year presence in the neighborhood, by far the oldest, and many said goodbye, knowing that it would soon close and be torn down.
