Introducing CNN This Morning's segment today on the 10th anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, co-host Poppy Harlow said: "This is a day to not forget. To never forget what happened." Except that CNN did "forget" to mention a central fact about "what happened" that day! The attack, which resulted in the deaths of five people and injured hundreds, was perpetrated by two Chechen jihadi terrorist brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Their family entered the United States on a tourist visa, was eventually granted asylum and received welfare benefits for many years. Ilhan Omar infamously described 9/11 as "some people...

When I filed my taxes (TurboTax), there was a page which - as with last year - asked a question as to whether I got my 'stimulus' check. I do not recall that there was any other option (yes or no). I did not get a stimulus during the virus. Last year it automatically credited my taxes. No notice from IRS. This year it did the same (automatically credited my taxes on my answer to the question). Recently I got a notice of tax due, reversing the credit. Now I owe >$1400.00, plus interest & penalties.

I know someone who had to refile their unemployment claim yesterday (first filed a year ago). The new claim was based upon income from the prior year. Think very carefully upon the numbers on which the claim is based ('benefits' received do not count). Millions of Americans from all walks of life and political parties will soon be refiling their claims, only to discover a glaring omission from the $1.9 Trillion 'relief' bill. Net result: The only 'relief' is the $300/week provided under the 'American Relief' bill, a fraction of the prior amount.

Americans struggling to survive on federal benefits have waited weeks for word on their share of the $1.9 trillion stimulus. Some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens have been waiting weeks for the next round of promised financial aid from President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” coronavirus relief package, with no indication of when it would come. Chief among those are the millions of elderly Americans who depend on federal assistance to survive. As of March 24, nearly 30 million had yet to receive their portion, largely because the Social Security Administration had “not sent the necessary payment...

“There’s more first time gun buyers than I ever seen before, I mean, there’s been certain times when political events have caused you know people to think more about guns or a lot of new gun buyers come out but this time has just been on fire with I think in January several million more new gun buyers on the market and I think we just continue to see that,” Smith said. At John Brown’s Armory in Beaver Country, Pennsylvania, it is a similar story. The shop has seen steady sales since the outbreak of the pandemic a year ago,...

Democrats want to use stimulus money to make you into the people populating Disney's cartoon 'Wall-E.' Instead, turn it into a weapon for antifragility.Democrats’ fifth round of “coronavirus” “stimulus” will soon hand another $1,400 in government debt, plus interest, to every American man, woman, and child in 90 percent of U.S. households. It’s clear this is yet another round of hush money meant to keep Americans quiet and distracted while Democrats restructure the United States into a larger version of their failed uniparty state, California. While COVID times have been obviously worse than the four years of prosperity and freedom under...

The man suspected of fatally shooting a family of four at a home in Indianapolis on Saturday night reportedly flew into a rage when his former partner refused to split her recent $1,400 stimulus check with him. Malik Halfacre, 25, demanded Jeanettrius Moore give him half of her COVID-19 relief payment in an argument that culminated in the deaths of four people, including a child, the victim's family says. Officers initially responded to reports of a shooting at 253 North Randolph Street just after 9:35 p.m. to find a woman shot in the upper back, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department...

The latest round of stimulus payments that started going out over the weekend are open to being seized by private debt collectors -- a problem lawmakers are rushing to fix. Recipients with unpaid credit card or medical bills for which a company has obtained a judgment against the debtor could see the fresh infusion taken from their bank accounts, potentially preventing those in need from getting the emergency cash. Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, plans to introduce a fix that would shield the payments from garnishment as early this week, according to a spokeswoman. But for now, it's...

A proposal by Senate Democrats to lower the income cap for COVID-19 stimulus checks would leave out nearly 12 million Americans, according to a new analysis. Under the latest proposal, individuals earning up to $75,000 per year would receive $1,400 checks, but the payments would decline sharply up to $80,000, where they would phase out completely. About 200 million Americans would get the stimulus checks under the new Senate plan, which is 11.8 million fewer than a relief bill passed by the House last week, according to estimates from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. That bill sets a...

BRYAN, TEXAS — Tax filing season is upon us. On February 12, the IRS will start accepting and processing 2020 tax returns. With confusion surrounding the addition of stimulus checks, experts want to remind everyone that stimulus checks are not taxed. "They are not taxable. The only reason they are having us report them is because some people may not have received the full amount of stimulus they were eligible for. If that's the case, then they will actually get a credit on their tax return," said Jonathan Jones, owner of Bottom Line Bookkeeping in Bryan, Texas. Jones is an...

Most individuals eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit have already received the full amount in two rounds of payments, known as Economic Impact Payments. If we issued you the full amount of each Economic Impact Payment, you won’t need to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit or include any information related to it when you file your 2020 tax return because we already issued your Recovery Rebate Credit as Economic Impact Payments. If you’re eligible for the credit, and either we didn’t issue you any Economic Impact Payments or we issued less than the full amounts, you must file a 2020...

Here's a heads up for parents with college age children who claimed them as dependents in 2019 but the children didn't get a stimulus check last year: If you file their return separately, they will get the $1800 in their tax refund, even if they didn't have a W-2. That is how Turbo Tax figured it anyway. If you count them as a dependent, it only reduces your taxes by $500. So it's $1300 net gain.

Joe Biden is officially breaking his promise to provide all Americans with a $2,000 direct stimulus check. Instead, Biden and Democrats in Congress plan to ram through a bill for a $1,400 stimulus check, claiming that the $600 provided by Republicans under the Trump administration was a “down payment” for the total of $2,000. “The president also had the opportunity to meet in the Oval Office just a few minutes ago to meet with [Senate Majority] Leader Schumer and the Democratic chairs of the Senate committee with jurisdiction over the American rescue program,” said Biden White House Press Secretary Jen...
