Some conservatives see the ballot box as their only means of recourse against an out-of-control government. But over the last three national elections, including the 2010 midterm elections that propelled the Republicans to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives, things haven’t worked out as planned. Mark Levin, author of The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic, charts a path to reel in the growth of this ever-expanding federal leviathan by harnessing the sentiment that inspired the Tea Party movement. In a three-hour interview he conducted with C-SPAN that aired Sunday night, he praised the Tea Party movement and...

On the eve of the state Republican convention, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Rick Lazio yesterday glossed over inter-party squabbling and came out swinging against Democratic nominee Andrew Cuomo. "People -- I don't care if they're Democrats or Independents or Republicans -- look at Andrew Cuomo trying to run against the establishment and they laugh. Andrew Cuomo is the establishment," Lazio said during a Memorial Day parade in Queens yesterday. The former Republican congressman from Long Island went on to criticize Cuomo -- the state's popular attorney general who is considered difficult to beat in the race to replace departing Gov. Paterson...

Minnesota Republicans were told Saturday that they are members of a brand-new party and that Rep. Marty Seifert is their early favorite to be the state's brand-new governor. Seifert, of Marshall, who came into the race as a front-runner and has one of the most active campaigns, won 37 percent of the first-choice votes in a non-binding straw poll. Rep. Tom Emmer of Delano came in second, former state auditor Pat Anderson third and Sen. David Hann of Eden Prairie a close fourth. The poll won't bind delegates in next year's endorsement fight, but it gave winners bragging rights and...

When the Virginia Legislature invited Churchill to address them, he said, “Do you not think you are running some risk (by) inviting me to give you my faithful counsel on this occasion? … I might easily, for instance, blurt out a lot of things, which people know in their hearts are true, but are a bit shy of saying in public, and this might cause a regular commotion and get you all into trouble.” I apologize in advance for serving up some cold and bitter truths with tonight’s dinner, but the events in Sacramento of the last few days simply...

YAKIMA — In an unexpected move, the state Republican Party on Saturday adopted a platform that states children of illegal immigrants should not be allowed to become United States citizens. The platform, at least with respect to the children of illegal immigrants, goes further than measures currently under consideration in the Congress. The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution recognizes citizenship for all persons born in the United States.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - California Republicans opened a three-day state convention Friday, aiming to gain several new seats in the state Legislature in November and rally members to win a second term for President George Bush. The party, still basking in last year's election of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, gathered with hopes to keep chipping away at Democrats' majority in the California Legislature, and add to a national trend of growing Republican power over state lawmaking. Party women also strategized to greatly increase their representation in California politics, where Republican women hold six of 190 legislative and congressional seats and elected...

The Texas State GOP Convention was held in Dallas, Texas on June 7-8, 2002. The following are personal observations and activities from a Freeper's first time attendance as a delegate at this convention. Thursday, 6 June 2002 I drove up from Houston with two other H.A.T. Freepers (Humblegunner and Flyer, they were my guests). Since the schedules would vary between delegates and non-delegates, we drove in separate vechiles, forming a two-car convoy. The drive took about 3-1/2 hours and we checked into the hotel ahead of schedule. This was set-up day for the convention exhibits. The FR booth was already...

The Texas Senate District Conventions were held yesterday, Saturday April 6 across the state of Texas. Many Freepers were precinct delegates and some of them have been selected as delegates and alternates to the state convention, scheduled for Dallas, TX on June 7-8, 2002. I am starting this thread for several reasons: 1) To identify who is going to the convention and the general area they will be coming from. 2) It is likely that several people are coming from the same area, carpools can be arranged if desired. 3) To assist in determining how many Freepers will be in...
