FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County's top law enforcer says she's standing with sheriff's across the country- many of whom are coming forward, saying they won't enforce federal gun laws. This comes on the heels of President Obama's new gun violence prevention proposal. 23 executive orders are aimed at gun control. Sheriff Margaret Mims says there's been a steady increase in concealed carry licenses, ever since the President's re-election in November. In order to handle the demand, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office will now feature online applications on it's website. However, local gun dealers can't keep up with the demand....

Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian, in an abrupt move on Sunday, declared that Taiwan must seek independence. "On the 25th birthday of FAPA (the Formosan Association for Public Affairs), I want to put forward the 'four musts and one no' call. They are: Taiwan must seek independence, must rectify its name, must have a new constitution and must seek development," Chen said at the dinner party marking the 25th anniversary of founding of FAPA, a US- based pro-independence group formed by overseas Taiwanese. The island of Taiwan, formerly known as Formosa and officially called the Republic of China, was site of...

CONGRESSIONAL NEGOTIATORS DELIVER LUMP-OF-COAL INTEL BILL TO 9/11 FAMILIES FOR CHRISTMAS; But Tancredo, House Conservatives Claim Partial Victory in Securing Bush Commitment on Addressing Driver’s License Issue Next Year WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) expressed disappointment with the conference report on the intelligence bill after negotiators on the bill stripped key border security provisions approved by the House of Representatives in October from the bill. Tancredo had been a leader in the effort to retain the provisions – recommended by the 9/11 Commission – executing a parliamentary maneuver prior to the Thanksgiving recess temporarily thwarting efforts to...

Pryor Prejudice CRISIS Magazine - e-Letter June 12, 2003 ********************************************** Dear Friend, It was almost four months ago to the day that I first told you about Miguel Estrada, one of President Bush's judicial nominations for the US Court of Appeals. A highly respected lawyer in his own right and eminently qualified for the position, a vote on his nomination has nevertheless been filibustered by Senate Democrats determined to keep him out at any cost. The reason? Estrada's conservatism scares them, plain and simple. They'll do anything to keep judges like him -- mainly, pro-life conservatives -- out of the...
