Last month, McCain staffer Michael Goldfarb made an appearance on CNN in which he accused Barack Obama of having "a long track record being around anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, anti-American rhetoric." But, under repeated questioning, Goldfarb refused to "name names," because John McCain had forbidden bringing up Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The effect of the interview was to make Goldfarb look ridiculous as he repeated, "I think we all know who we're talking about." Now, in a Weekly Standard article by Stephen Hayes, we learn that when Goldfarb returned to the McCain campaign headquarters, his colleagues gave him a standing ovation.

Washington — Senator John McCain delivered some harsh criticism of Senator Barack Obama’s foreign policy at the opening session of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference Monday. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee told the crowd at the annual policy conference of the pro-Israel lobbying powerhouse that his Democratic rival’s talk of negotiating with Iran would lead to no results “except an earful of antisemitic rants.” The Arizona senator received a standing ovation when he blasted Obama for not supporting a Senate resolution demanding the designation of Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terror group. At the time of that...

Wright has been Barack Obama's spiritual mentor for 20 years. Wright appeared at an event March 28, 2008, honoring poet Maya Angelou where he received a thunderous standing ovation from the crowd, not once but twice.

LAKE FOREST, Calif. – Within days of introducing a $50 billion plan to combat AIDS, Sen. Hillary Clinton received a standing ovation at one of the nation's most influential evangelical churches after addressing its "Global Summit on AIDS and the Church" today. If the Democratic presidential frontrunner's aim was to make inroads into the heavily Republican evangelical electorate, her appearance at Saddleback Church with pastor and "The Purpose Driven Life" author Rick Warren apparently didn't hurt. Saddleback Church member Cindy Logan told WND after Clinton spoke to some 1,700 conference attendees that as a Republican, the senator's visit was "a...

"I think we may be able to do something good for this country," Thompson said. Thompson...

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Mayor Giuliani's battle to win over social conservatives in the Republican Party may not be the impossible task that many political pundits have predicted. That certainly appeared to be the case yesterday at Regent University, the Christian college founded by evangelist Pat Robertson, where Mr. Giuliani's message of leadership and strength on terrorism met with a standing ovation. In a 30-minute address to more than 650 students and business leaders, Mr. Giuliani never uttered the word abortion, nor did he make any other direct reference to the social issues on which his moderate positions are largely...

He was accompanied by two injured soldiers and a father who lost his son in Afghanistan. -Snip-Bush became the first sitting president to throw a ceremonial pitch in Cincinnati as the Reds lost 16-7 to the Chicago Cubs. Although he is finding it difficult getting support in Washington for his resolution to censure President George W. Bush for an illegal wiretapping operation, the mere mention of the effort in Madison brought a standing ovation for U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold. Only hours after a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the resolution, which brought Feingold more criticism than support, the senator was back in Madison at the Monona Terrace Convention Center as the keynote speaker for the AIDS Network banquet, an occasion at which the maverick Democrat even had some words of praise for the president he seeks to censure....

California Republicans leave their state convention today united in their support of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger but divided over his agenda. GOP delegates gathered in San Jose gave Schwarzenegger a standing ovation when he spoke to them Friday night as he declared that "the Republican Party is my home.'' McClintock did his part Saturday to fire up the base, delivering a rousing pro-Schwarzenegger speech clearly aimed at wavering party loyalists. "The differences between us as Republicans are nothing compared to the differences between us and the Democrats,'' he said during a speech that was interrupted by applause more than two dozen...

"I want to thank you for that welcome home," Cheney told the Wyoming lawmakers. "It's a wonderful experience to be greeted by such warmth by the leaders of our great state. It's especially true when you've had a very long week. Thankfully, Harry Whittington is on the mend and doing very well."

SOMETHING very interesting happened on Friday in Baltimore: Rudy Giuliani showed up and got a standing ovation. Now that doesn't sound surprising, given the wild popularity of the former New York mayor across the country. But the occasion was a commencement address at Loyola College of Maryland, a Catholic school. When he found out that Giuliani was to be the speaker at commencement, William Cardinal Keeler said he would not attend because Giuliani has pro-choice views. Anti-abortion groups in Maryland vowed they would rally hundreds to demonstrate against the former mayor. In the end, six whole people showed up -...

Brian Church, referring to the attacks on the World Trade Center, which prompted him to put his education at St. Peter's College on hold and sign up."I felt obliged to," added Church, 24, who attended Hudson Catholic High School, as well as St. Peter's, on academic scholarships. "I wanted to defend my county. You defend your household. I always said that if we went to war...
