Stacey Abrams, former Democratic candidate for governor in Georgia, delivered the Democratic response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union on Tuesday. In that speech, she repeated the fake news that Trump's administration put kids in cages."This administration chooses to cage children and tear families apart," Abrams declared. “This administration chooses to put children in cages and tear families apart” - Abrams #SOTU— Sam Wise ?????? (@SamWiseSW) February 6, 2019 The viral photo of a child in a cage did not come from Trump's immigration policy, however. The photo came from a protest against the Trump administration. Other...

Failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams prepared the Democrats' response to President Trump's State of the Union address. Going into it, none of us really knew what to expect but honestly, the bar wasn't set too high. Abrams never conceded to Brian Kemp and she's continually pushed the idea that "voter suppression" (not the people's voice) is what kept her from winning her bid for governor of Georgia. Although the Democrats might not have known exactly what President Trump was going to address on Tuesday night, whoever wrote her speech cast a really, really wide net. She mentioned issues Trump didn't even touch on,...

Stacey Abrams gave the Democrat Party rebuttal to President Trump’s State of the Union speech last night. The content was predictable and the delivery reasonably competent, but the interesting aspect of the speech was the decision to green screen Abrams and project her image onto video of a nebulous audience, which were apparently standing in a studio in another location, giving the broadcast a weird Photoshopped aura. Compounding his mistake, the director kept the audience image blurred, so that they seemed to loom ominously behind Ms. Abrams, freedom-eating zombies waiting to pounce. Maybe the Democrat Party should get some help...

Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and a rising Democratic star, blamed President Trump for the partial government shutdown in her response to the State of the Union address -- calling the shutdown a "stunt" and its impact on federal workers a "disgrace."

WASHINGTON - Stacey Abrams, who nearly became both the first African-American and first woman to be governor of Georgia, will deliver the Democrats’ response to the State of the Union address on Tuesday, test-driving the party’s 2020 challenge to President Donald Trump. After losing a Southern state that Trump won in 2016 by less than 60,000 votes in November, Abrams has emerged as a “bona fide leader” among Democrats, said Jaime Harrison, a senior counselor and co-chair of the Democratic National Committee. “The 2020 folks will be listening to her and looking to what they can adopt to their message...

She’s a female minority who can’t be held politically accountable for anything because she doesn't hold any office.......There is no other person on the national scene who enjoys more privilege among the national press than Abrams, who lost her bid for Georgia governor last year and refused to accept the result long after the writing was already on the wall. Even if she botches the response on Tuesday, Abrams will still be a hero for having taken on white male Trump. That's because she can expect the national media to frame the conflict as an epic battle between white and...

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said Tuesday she has accepted an invitation to give the Democratic response to the State of the Union address. Abrams has been talked about as a rising star in the Democratic Party. She gained a national following during her unsuccessful bid to become governor of Georgia last fall. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday said he called Abrams three weeks ago to discuss the idea and that she has since accepted.

Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and a rising star among Democrats, will deliver her party’s response to President Trump’s State of the Union address next week, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., confirmed Tuesday. Abrams, who hoped to make history as the first black governor of Georgia and first female black governor of any state, lost November’s gubernatorial election to Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp, but her stock within the Democratic Party has remained high.

Stacey Abrams will deliver the Democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address next week, giving the former gubernatorial candidate one of the nation’s most prominent pulpits as she considers whether to run for U.S. Senate in 2020. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters he asked her to deliver the address, which will air shortly after Trump finishes his address to a joint session of Congress next week, because “she has led the charge for voting rights, which is at the root of just about everything else.” The speech will be a pivotal moment for Abrams,...

Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams stated on Friday in her near concession speech that the winner, Brian Kemp, owed his victory "on the suppression of the people’s democratic right to vote." As we have seen, this talking point was taken up by Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown who, along with many of his fellow liberals, claimed that Georgia election was "stolen." In addition, that talking point has gone pretty much unchallenged by most of the mainstream media. As a result of the latter, the Steve Kane Radio Show co-host, Brian Craig, made an interesting observation on Monday while taking a call from...

At this point, Stacey Abrams, Bill Nelson, Andrew Gillum and Hillary Clinton should travel the country as the Sore Losers Tour 2019. “Sore Loserman” was the insult directed at 2000 presidential/vice presidential candidates Al Gore and Joe Lieberman, known on the campaign trail as “Gore Lieberman.” After losing to George W. Bush, Gore challenged the handling of the Florida vote counting, resulting in the closest presidential race in the history of the United States. Gore’s appeals for a recount went unheeded, resulting in Republicans all across America placing ‘Sore Loserman’ bumper stickers on cars.

Georgia’s hotly contested election for governor was neither fair nor free, former Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams said in a Monday night interview. Abrams, who announced on Friday that she was ending her gubernatorial bid, told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that her Republican opponent Brian Kemp had for years undermined democracy as Georgia’s secretary of state. “It was not a free and fair election,” Abrams said. “We had thousands of Georgians who were purged from the rolls wrongly, including a 92-year-old woman who had voted in the same area since 1968 ― a civil rights leader.”

Throughout the course of the interview, Tapper pressed Abrams several times on the issue — and she repeatedly refused to use the word “legitimate.” “Sherrod Brown says the election was stolen. Do you agree that it was stolen and do you think that Brian Kemp is not the legitimate governor-elect of Georgia?” Tapper asked. (RELATED: Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate Stacey Abrams Admits She’ll Lose But Doesn’t Concede The Race) “The law, as it stands, says that he received an adequate number of votes to become the governor of Georgia,” Abrams began. “And I acknowledge the law as it stands. Stacey Abrams refused to acknowledge Georgia’s Republican Governor-elect Brian Kemp as “legitimate” during a Sunday morning appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper. “The law, as it stands, says that he received an adequate number of votes to become the governor of Georgia,” Abrams began. “And I acknowledge the law as it stands. I am a lawyer by training and I have taken the constitutional oath to uphold the law. But we know sometimes the law does not do what it should and something being legal does not make it right.”

What does it take to get a straight answer from Stacey Abrams? For the second time in two weeks, Jake Tapper has pressed Abrams on an issue, and for the second time, Abrams, the losing Dem candidate in the Georgia governor's race, weaseled away. [snip] The cha-cha continued on today's show. Three times, Tapper pressed Abrams on whether she would recognize as "legitimate" the election of her Republican gubernatorial opponent, Brian Kemp. And three times, Abrams waltzed away. Refusing to pronounce the l-for-legitimate word, Abrams would only concede that Kemp "received an adequate number of votes" and hence would be...

What do Democrat, losers, Andrew Gillum, Stacey Abrams & Bill Nelson all have in common. Barack Hussein Obama, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey & Chuck Schumer all came to Florida and Georgia to campaign for them...and all of them lost their races. Of course, the Democrats with brains & street smarts, realized that having the Obama's, Clinton, Schumer & Winfrey campaign for them is the kiss of political death. I see the Clintons have cancelled their grand tour, no one has signed up to attend. Methinks, the Obama's and Clinton's are toast as effective campaigners for any Democrats. Case...

Georgia state Sen. Nikema Williams (D-Atlanta) was arrested along with more than a dozen other protesters at the Georgia State Capitol on Tuesday afternoon at a demonstration asking the state to “count every vote” from last week’s gubernatorial election. Protesters shouted “Let her go!” as Williams was handcuffed while the General Assembly was in session. Williams, a civil rights advocate who organized domestic workers for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice and spent about six hours at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta. “There are countless Georgians who cast their ballots and still don’t feel...
