A legislative change in January 2005 gave the child of a sperm donation the right to know the identity of the donor when reaching age 18. A sperm donor in Michigan passed a rare and serious genetic disease to five children born to four couples, doctors are reporting today. The doctor who discovered the cases said that all four couples were clients of the same sperm bank. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says it plans to go ahead with a new guideline that recommends that men who've had sex with other men within the past five years be rejected as anonymous sperm donors. The FDA has rejected criticism that the move stigmatizes all gay men and that the restriction should apply to all men -- gay or straight -- who've engaged in high-risk sexual behavior. Taranova Glick was the daughter of Strong’s girlfriend. She died on July 13th from blunt-force trauma to the abdomen.
