Promoting Republican outreach to Hispanics, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said this week that the GOP must expand its appeal if it expects to remain politically relevant. "The party has to be bigger across the country, not only appealing to people of various ethnic background but various economic backgrounds," Paul said Friday during a sweep through Texas, CNN reported. The remarks came following a meeting with George P. Bush, the 37-year-old son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who's vying to become the next Texas Land Commissioner. Paul, a conservative firebrand who's long-been critical of establishment Republicans like the Bush family,...

Madrid, January 30, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a recent interview with the Spanish feminist magazine Pikara, a Benedictine sister, Teresa Forcades, said her position towards the proposed restrictions on abortion by the Spanish conservative government was that of “criticism and upfront rejection.” “I’m in favor of allowing abortion when the fetus isn’t viable,” said the Sister. The proposed law will eliminate a provision passed in 2010 by the previous socialist government allowing abortion on demand until 14 weeks gestation, and will remove fetal malformation as a reason for the mother to abort. “There can be a mother,” she continued, “to...

You would think Hempstead Middle school principal Amy Lacey was asking to see the “papers” of the 50% Hispanic students at her school as this story is now getting national attention. But all she did was announce that students can not speak Spanish while in class to avoid disruption. The students make it sound like horrible discrimination and apparently the school district agrees. She has been placed on paid administrative leave and the school district is bending over backwards to apologize for the principal’s actions. But some residents of Hempstead (outside of Houston) agree with the principal according to KHOU11:

Add one more delay to the list for the rollout of President Barack Obama's health care law. This time, it's a postponement of the launch of online enrollment tools in Spanish. Hispanics are viewed as one of keys to the success of Obama's coverage expansion. Their relative youthfulness is seen as a plus for the law's new markets. They are heavily represented in major states that the administration is targeting for enrollments and they're overwhelmingly likely to qualify for tax credits that would help make premiums more affordable.

The guest on Hannity's Show just said that there is a Spanish language site ready to go but it hasn't actually been activated. Do you suppose Obama, et al, want to wait until 'Comprehensive Immigration' has been shoved down our throats and the newly legalized 'citizens' can register for free care?
  • Millions of Uninsured Latinos Live in States Without Spanish Obamacare Sites

    National Journal ^ | October 23, 2013 | By Clara Ritger
Over 1.2 million uninsured Latinos in the United States do not have access to a Spanish-language Obamacare website. Nearly 60 percent of the state-run exchanges offer consumers only an English version of their Affordable Care Act website. The states without Spanish language exchange sites are Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington. An HHS spokesperson declined to comment on when that feature might be made available and whether it might be related to the technical trouble with Healthcare.gov.

Here’s something you won’t hear from the Hispanic media, the mainstream media, or the White House: Among the many terrible side effects of Obamacare is its adverse effects on Hispanics. This stems from the fact that the Hispanic population is one of the youngest, in addition to Obamacare’s impact on the wholesale and retail industry, which employs many Hispanic Americans. Wholesale and retail will be hit especially hard by Obamacare, because, as one consultant noted, “employers not currently offering coverage to all employees working at least 30 hours a week may be more inclined to change their workforce strategy so...

The Spanish language website for the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, won't be available for online enrollment until the week of Oct. 21, officials said. Spanish speaking members of the community have been directed to the website Cuidadodesalud.gov as the Spanish language alternative to HealthCare.gov to enroll for insurance coverage. However, the website is not yet equipped with online enrollment tools, officials said. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services officials said the enrollment tools will launch when they celebrate a national Hispanic Week of Action during the week of Oct. 21 in order to ensure that Latinos in the...

Verizon executives in Tampa Bay are informally telling employees that they should be speaking English only when on the job. Not because Verizon has an English-only policy at work — it doesn’t — but because speaking Spanish at work when not absolutely necessary can make nearby English-only speakers feel excluded. This topic came to a head recently in Tampa when three employees of a Verizon dispatch center were speaking Spanish together, and another employee made a complaint because she felt excluded. The tri-lingual newspaper La Gaceta first reported on the incident this week, telling the story of Margaret Hess, a...

The Spanish government provided funding between 2009 and 2011 to political NGOs leading the campaigns to delegitimize Israel through demonization, boycotts, lawfare and other forms of political attacks, according to an NGO Monitor report issued on Tuesday. The report provides comprehensive and detailed evidence of the use and/or misuse of official Spanish funds, including regional governments. The analysis, entitled "Assessing Transparency, Accountability, and Impact on Israel", issued in Spanish and English, was written by Soeren Kern and Prof. Gerald M. Steinberg. Kern is an analyst at the Madrid-based Grupo de Estudios Estratégicos / Strategic Studies Group; Steinberg is President of...

Two Spanish scroungers who chopped off their own hands and tried to claim the insurance payout have been exposed as cheats - because they performed the amputations so well. The unnamed men, whose cases are not linked, both thought they could pocket up to £2million if they could hoodwink insurers into believing unforeseen accidents had caused their injuries. They are among a wave of penniless desperados in recession-ravaged Spain who are increasingly turning to more extreme measures to make ends meet. Authorities said the first claimant removed his hand with an electric saw but told insurers it had been ripped...

Rumor has it that Mark Levin frequents this venue occasionally, and I have a message for him: I was asking political questions of some Hispanic workers the other day, and showed them how their answers proved that they were really Republicans --- they were quite surprised, but understood the differences after our conversation. Later that evening, I thought about how effective it wuld be to have Ameritopia in both book and CD formats IN SPANISH to give to them to share with their friends and relatives. Would you at all consider offering Ameritopia in a Spanish version for outreach??? I...

The Obama administration has stopped using the term “exchanges” to describe part of the healthcare law because the word doesn’t translate into Spanish, an official said Thursday. Anton Gunn, director of External Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), said the rebranding of the insurance exchanges as "marketplaces" was geared toward Spanish speakers who will use the system. "We´re going to use the word ´marketplace´ because it actually makes sense to people," Gunn said at a conference in Washington, D.C. " ´Exchange´ doesn´t translate to anything in Spanish, but ´marketplace´ does."

[SNIP] ....Based on my limited interactions and after reading more about [San Antonio Mayor Julian] Castro, it is clear that he is superficially very different from the older Latino leaders but very similar in other ways. The most prominent Hispanic mayor in America is Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Before Castro was born, Villaraigosa was at UCLA leading the openly racist, secessionist, and anti-American group MEChA. After engaging in protests to try to get the ChicanoStudies Department to give money to an openly communist group, he dropped out of UCLA and attended the unaccredited People's School of Law. The government has been targeting Spanish speakers with radio “novelas” promoting food stamp usage as part of a stated mission to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps. Each novela, comprising a 10-part series called “PARQUE ALEGRIA,” or “HAPPINESS PARK,” presents a semi-dramatic scenario involving characters convincing others to get on food stamps, or explaining how much healthier it is to be on food stamps. The majority of the episodes end with the announcer encouraging the listener to tune in again to see if the skeptic applies for benefits or learns to understand the importance...

A Houston police officer fatally shot a man Monday who refused commands to stop and approached her with one hand tucked under his shirt, an official said. Officer J. McGowan shot the man, identified by relatives as Rufino Lara, about 4:30 p.m. in front of a vacant store along the 7000 block of Bissonnet near Fondren. “I don’t believe this should be happening,” said his sister, Calixta Lara. “He never had a problem with the police.” McGowan and her partner were investigating an assault at the center. McGowan told detectives five or six people were standing in front of the...
