Margaret Brennan on Sunday's Face The Nation seemed to place her faith in the veracity of second hand information produced by the whistleblower concerning the phone call between the Ukrainian president and President Donald Trump. Secondhand information which could be properly labeled as "hearsay" which is what guest Senator Lindsey Graham called it. The sparks flew as Graham vigorously pushed back on Brennan's assertion that a secondhand source, or hearsay, for the phone call in question, is something that an impeachment inquiry could be based upon.

Sen. Lindsey Graham may consider former Vice President Joe Biden a “friend,” but he still believes there should be an investigation into his actions related to Ukraine. The South Carolina Republican spoke with Fox News host Martha MacCallum amid the fallout surrounding Biden’s involvement in the current controversy over Ukraine, saying he would like a probe into whether there was a conflict of interest with the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate’s past actions.

A national organization says South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster is violating the Constitution by holding prayers before press conferences. News outlets report the Freedom From Religion Foundation sent a letter to the governor’s office concerning two prayers earlier this month before press conferences regarding Hurricane Dorian. Foundation attorney Ryan Jayne says the practice violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment, which prohibits government from favoring one religion over others. A spokesperson for the governor, Brian Symmes, says as long as McMaster is governor and the state has to prepare for dangerous storms, there will be a chaplain saying prayers...

Sept. 25 (UPI) -- An iPhone lost in a South Carolina river was found underwater 15 months later and still functions thanks to a waterproof case. Erica Bennett said she and her family were on a river float tour with Edisto River Adventures in June 2018 when her phone fell overboard. "We got done with the river float and gathered all of our belongings up and it just fell and we didn't notice it fell into the water," Bennett told WCIV-TV. Bennett said her husband, Jason, searched for the iPhone underwater, but was unable to find it. She said she...

"It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing"? But at the moment, the most senseless member of Congress is the odious and sanctimonious Adam Schiff of California. Like Lady Macbeth, he lacks humanity, and he burns with ambition. In the span of just under three years, he has become Trump-deranged, incoherent, a man grasping at any thread with which to bring the president down, no matter how slender the filament.

Former South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy told “America’s Newsroom” on Friday that people have stopped sharing information with the House Intelligence Committee because its chairman, Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is the most “deeply partisan” member. “When you put someone who is wrong as often as Adam Schiff is wrong and is as deeply partisan as he is, in charge of the intelligence committee, then no, you’re not going to share confidential information because Adam leaks like a sieve,” Schiff said. A whistleblower complaint that reportedly involved allegations President Trump made a troubling and unspecified "promise" to a foreign leader touched...

Trump Hits Back At Lindsey Graham: If You Think It Was Weak Not To Bomb Iran, Remind Yourself How Iraq Turned Out My favorite thing about Trump is how little he gives Graham on foreign policy despite Graham kissing his ass relentlessly in hopes of turning him into a hawk. It’s commendable on the merits, in that Trump’s reluctance to wage war is a welcome corrective to the McCain/Graham-style of hyperinterventionism that ruled the GOP for years. But it’s also gratifying on a gut level, even as a Trump skeptic. “One of Trump’s more likable qualities is his penchant for...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Monday that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh won't be impeached amid a new allegation of sexual misconduct. Graham defended Kavanaugh during a string of tweets, accusing Democrats of being "willing to ruin Justice Kavanagh's life for political gain." "As Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I promise you Justice Kavanaugh will not be impeached over these scurrilous accusations," Graham tweeted. Republicans have rushed to defend Kavanaugh after The New York Times reported over the weekend that Max Stier, a classmate of Kavanaugh's at Yale University, alleged that Kavanaugh exposed himself at a party and...

The Iowa Republican Party is holding onto plans to have its traditional straw poll at the caucus in February to decide the Republican nominee in the bid for the White House. Still, local party leaders maintain that the party firmly supports President Trump. Muscatine County Republican chair Fred Grunder said the party is behind Trump, but there is likely to be a small number of protest votes at the caucus in 2020. “There are some people that I think they’re just trying to make a statement more than anything else,” he said. “If there’s 500 people that are at our...

Rep. Joe Cunningham's wife says therapy and marriage counseling are 'basic well-known needs' Democratic congressman Joe Cunningham's wife is furious that their taxpayer-subsidized healthcare plan declined to pay for therapy sessions, according to a rant on an insurance bill she posted on Instagram. The South Carolina Democrat is currently serving his first term in Congress, where members are given access to Obamacare "gold" plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield and are responsible for paying about a quarter of the premiums. The plan is apparently not good enough for his wife, Amanda Cunningham, who told her Instagram followers she would be...

Ex-South Carolina Congressman Mark Sanford Announces Republican Primary Challenge to Trump 16:40 08.09.2019(updated 17:16 08.09.2019) In July, US President Donald Trump officially launched his re-election campaign for the 2020 presidential election during a rally in Orlando, Florida. Former South Carolina governor and congressman Mark Sanford stated Sunday that he would challenge current President Donald Trump during the Republican primaries for the 2020 presidential election. "I’m here to tell you now that I am going to get in," he told Fox News. The announcement comes a week after Sanford hinted that he could enter the presidential race. The lawmaker, however, will...

Republican officials in multiple states are on the verge of canceling their 2020 presidential primary elections in a show of support for President Donald Trump, even as some GOP candidates plan to challenge him. Party leaders in South Carolina, Nevada and Arizona have all expressed support for nixing their presidential primaries, and are expected to make it official over the coming weeks. Leaders of the South Carolina and Nevada Republican parties will each meet Saturday to reach a decision, while the Arizona GOP Executive Committee will discuss its decision at a Sept. 14 meeting. Kansas Republicans are also considering nixing...

Senator Lindsey Graham has written a letter to Attorney General Bill Barr urging him to declassify FISA documents used during the FBI's investigation of the Trump campaign. "Since March 28, 2018, the Department's Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, has been conducting an investigation into the Department's and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's compliance with legal requirements, and with applicable Department and FBI policies and procedures, in applications filed with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) related to Carter Page. Doug Ogden doesn’t know what to do. The 75-year-old retired law enforcement officer is disgusted by President Donald Trump. But he can’t imagine voting for a Democrat in 2020, either. A self-described independent in South Carolina, Ogden doesn’t recognize the modern-day Democratic Party. “The state of the Democratic Party is wild against wilder,” says Ogden, standing with his arms crossed at a recent town hall meeting for Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg. “It scares me.” At the core of Ogden’s concern is a broader question about the direction of the Democratic Party and its values in the age of Trump....

Gaffney, South Carolina — In the past month alone, Joe Biden has confused New Hampshire for Vermont, compared poor kids to white kids, and said he met with students from the 2018 Parkland shooting while he was vice president. He told an audience he wasn't "going nuts," after he failed to remember the exact location of a speech he had just given. And a story he told about awarding a war hero turned out not to be entirely true. The string of summer slip-ups would seem to reinforce Biden's gaffe-prone reputation and raise questions about his central pitch of electability....

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., told an audience in South Carolina Friday that he is working on legislation that would "eliminate medical debt in this country." Sanders made the remark during a question-and-answer period following a town hall meeting in Florence on "Medicare-for-All." A female attendee explained to Sanders that she doesn't make enough money to qualify for ObamaCare and has a large amount of medical debt not covered by insurance. When the woman asked Sanders if he had a plan for that, the self-described democratic socialist told her: "In another piece of legislation that we're offering, we're...

ANDERSON — Vice President Mike Pence told an enthusiastic crowd of 3,000 conservatives Monday night that he was in South Carolina’s Upstate for only one reason: to ensure President Donald Trump wins reelection next year. “It’s time for round two, everybody,” Pence said at U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan’s 9th annual Faith and Freedom BBQ fundraiser. “It’s on.” Pence listed a litany of what he views as the strongest accomplishments of the Trump administration, including low unemployment, increased military spending and a raft of new conservative judges. But Pence’s stated reason for making the trip could not entirely tamp down speculation...

Via Joel Pollak, a stumper from an event in South Carolina. What’s the politic answer to give here if you’re a modern right-thinking “kill ’em up to the moment of crowning” liberal? Clearly the answer Beto wants to give, the one that’s consonant with left-wing thinking, is “No, your life had no meaning until you were born.” But that’s a tough thing to say to someone’s face when he’s asking about his own life specifically. The less abstract and more concrete questions about abortion get, the more uncomfortable they are. So no, O’Rourke won’t say that. “Of course I don’t...
