In a report by NBC News, foreign refugees are passing through the U.S. to Canada, specifically a small border town of less than 700 people known as Emerson. The vast majority of the refugees are of Somali descent who were originally placed in the U.S. Other refugees passing through the northern border are from Nigeria, Eritrea, and Djibouti. PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh police are investigating the beating of a Somali immigrant who was critically injured and might have been robbed. The man, believed to be about 30, was found beaten about 5 a.m. Tuesday in the city's Beltzhoover neighborhood. A city police spokeswoman said it appears that he had also been robbed. Betty Cruz, the director of Change Agency, said the victim is a member of Pittsburgh's Somali Bantu and Muslim communities.
