Social workers should have the power to break into homes to check that elderly and vulnerable people are not being harmed by their children, ministers have said. New laws should also give them the right to remove old people who are at risk from their homes - even if they do not want to go.

I own a startup staffing service here in the St. Louis metro area. Wednesday a kid came in to apply for assignment with us, and he brings a woman with him. It turns out she is his "work coach". What this means is that every time he goes looking for a job, she's with him, injecting herself into the proceedings, talking about him like he isn't there, using terms like "high-functioning" as if the guy were retarded. The poor bastard would do much better on his own. Has anybody else encountered anything like this?

Two children who attended a private Christian school in Wisconsin were illegally strip-searched and had their constitutional rights violated by a state social worker, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled Monday. In Michael C. v. Gresbach, the court said state worker Dana Gresbach violated the children's Fourth Amendment rights to freedom from unreasonable search when she entered Good Hope Christian Academy in Milwaukee, Wis., had the children pulled from the classrooms and told them to remove their clothing when she suspected the parents of spanking in February 2004. Stephen Crampton, vice president of legal affairs and general counsel...

When the sixth teenage suicide hit, Anne Einhorn, a Cherry Hill mother and school board member, remembers sitting helplessly in her kitchen as her son and his friends vented over why it kept happening. The first was a girl, in 2000. The last one, an eighth grader, took his life, with no apparent warning, in the spring of 2004. "It was frightening," Einhorn said. "And it seemed they were getting younger as time went on." The Cherry Hill school district wasn't going to wait for another. Last year, substance abuse counselor Jen DiStefano brought in a screening process -- one...

Imagine a knock at the door at 1 a.m.; you struggle out of bed to find a social worker and a police officer on your doorstep. The social worker has received a report of abuse or neglect about your family and they want to interview your children and inspect your house. You acquiesce because you fear being arrested for not cooperating with the investigation. Upon conclusion of the interview, the social worker does not find any evidence of abuse or neglect and leaves the home without an apology. Unfortunately, this scenario occurs far too often in the United States.

....snip....... KGET-TV in California reports that a white social worker who wanted to attend a meeting of the National Association of Black Social Workers was told he was not welcome because of his skin pigment. Bakersfield, Calif., social worker Brain Parnell wanted to attend the New Orleans meeting along with five of his colleagues because he often works with minority children. When he tried to enter, however, he was turned away. "I approached the registration table and was greeted by a very friendly fellow who looked me in the eye and said, 'Are you black?'" said Parnell. "I told him...

Perhaps Desiree Nall, the president of the Brevard, Florida, chapter of the National Organization Of Women thought she was being helpful by reporting that she was raped in a campus bathrum when she really wasn't. (Or maybe she was just looking for attention.) Wendy McElroy writes: Instead of publicizing sexual violence against women, Nall has spotlighted the problem of false accusations against men. Her case also raises the question of whether NOW-style feminists encourage false accusations when they flatly insist that women must be believed. In the '60s, feminists fought to have rape taken seriously. But taking an accusation seriously...

Thursday, July 1, 2004 Could your kids be given to 'gay' parents? Posted: July 1, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Stephen Baskerville © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com In the debate over gay marriage, strikingly little attention has been paid to the impact on children. Some question the wisdom of having children raised by two homosexuals, but the best they can seem to argue is that serious flaws vitiate the literature defending it. Almost no attention has been devoted to what may be the more serious political question of who will supply the children of gay "parents," since obviously they cannot produce children...

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Florida Department of Children and Families cares for thousands of children who can't go home. But hidden in the DCF files are signs of a disturbing trend. This is the story of a little girl who really didn't have a chance in life. We're protecting her identity, but feel you need to hear her story. We'll call her Katie. She could be the poster child for the statement "You can't pick your parents." Amber Christopher knows why her daughter was taken from her by DCF. "I wasn't providing a safe environment for her at all." Katie...

Leonard: In all my years in advocacy I have noticed a lot of people are like lawyers they try to horde their information and promote their own stories over others ignoring others in order to do so. As you know (evident from your candidness, a man after my own heart) we need to promote everyone's story and enlist everyone possible to get attention on the horrors. To that end everyone of us involved in opposition to the governments war on children and families should; promote this opportunity to get CBS 60 minutes to do a cover piece on the plight...

A child's best interests v. political correctness Social workers are helping an Indian band wrest a girl from the only home she knows A tiny, bright Ontario girl may soon be uprooted from the only home and parents she has ever known, and forcibly relocated to a native reserve half a continent away -- all in the name of "cultural sensitivity." The three-year-old, who is half-native, was seized by the Children's Aid Society (CAS) of Hamilton in December, 2000, after her native mother and non-native father -- both of whom were heavy users of alcohol and drugs -- neglected to...

In November 2001, HSLDA reminded the House Committee on Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Select Education of this forgotten...

Social Workers Threatened For Opposing Homosexual Adoption - Two British social workers were threatened with the loss of their jobs for informally criticizing homosexual adoption. An official letter of warning was sent to Dawn Jackson and Norah Ellis after they expressed their opposition to the practice, following by their reassignment to a different section -- even though Mrs. Ellis, 46, and a Christian, has a 26-year "exemplary" record. The letter of rebuke said: "I must warn you at the outset that, if you maintain that you are not able to work with same-sex couples, it is likely that I will...

(AP) - Police say three children were beaten and one was sexually molested after social workers placed them with a relative who had a lengthy criminal arrest record that included indecent exposure. The Family Continuity Program, an agency funded by Florida's embattled Department of Children & Families, did only a local background check on Mervin Kitnurse, missing a string of arrests in south Florida dating from 1996, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported. He had been on parole for indecent exposure as recently...

Chicago --Yesterday, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals issued a landmark decision upholding the constitutional rights of parents and private schools against social workers performing child abuse investigations. The court held that social workers violated the Fourth Amendment when they force their way into a private school, Greendale Baptist Academy, to interview students in a child abuse investigation involving no emergency. The court also held that the social workers violated the rights of parents when they threatened to remove the children from the home when they "had no reason whatsoever to suspect that Mr. and Mrs. Doe were abusing their...
