For patients with recurrent bleeding due to small-intestinal angiodysplasia (SIA), thalidomide treatment results in a reduction in bleeding, according to a study. Huimin Chen, M.D. and colleagues examined the efficacy and safety of thalidomide for the treatment of recurrent bleeding due to SIA in a randomized, placebo-controlled trial. A total of 150 patients with recurrent bleeding due to SIA were randomly assigned to thalidomide at an oral daily dose of 100 mg (51 patients) or 50 mg (49 patients) or placebo (50 patients) for four months. The researchers found that the percentages of patients with an effective response, defined as...

Planned Parenthood is harnessing star power in a new effort to advertise abortion. But with its straw-man messaging, Planned Parenthood and its celebrity PR team are only preaching to their choir. They’re not converting anyone. On August 26, Planned Parenthood announced that it had collected the signatures of nearly 140 musicians as part of its latest campaign for abortion called “Bans Off My Body.” To boast about its supporters, the nation’s largest abortion provider purchased an ad listing the artists – from Lady Gaga to Ariana Grande – in Billboard magazine. Planned Parenthood began its campaign in June in response...

Full title: Migrants from Terrorist Nations Try to Enter U.S. Via Mexico at Record Rates—300% Hike in Bangladeshis in Texas Alone Federal agents along the southern border routinely encounter individuals from terrorist nations and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) considers them one of the top threats to the United States, according to a congressional report made public this month. Titled “Stopping Terrorist Travel Through Illicit Pathways to the Homeland,” the document outlines the findings of a lengthy investigation involving Special Interest Aliens (SIA) by the House Homeland Security Committee. SIA’s are individuals from countries outside the western hemisphere—mostly the...

Corroborating what Judicial Watch uncovered years ago, a U.S. military intelligence report discloses that Muslim terrorists are being smuggled into the country through Mexico. The government calls them Special Interest Aliens (SIA) and Latin American smuggling networks are helping them cross the border, according to information obtained from a U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) Intelligence dispatch. Located in Miami, Florida SOUTHCOM is one of nine unified combat commands in the Department of Defense (DOD). It’s responsible for providing contingency planning operations and security cooperation in Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. The internal assessment on SIA smuggling has...

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents working with Mexican immigration officials have found thousands of non-Hispanic illegal immigrants crossing Mexico’s southern border to make their way to Texas. The “extra-continental” immigrants enter countries as far south as Brazil and make their way to the United States, often with forged travel documents. “The reality is that the vast majority of the people that Mexico encounters [on its southern border] that are extra-continental will eventually end up on our border,” a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official told Reuters this week. The Reuters article confirmed the Syrian nationals reported at...

In yet another blow to the BDS movement seeking to stir up an international boycott of the Jewish state, the international singer-songwriter phenomenon Sia announced on Tuesday she will be performing in Israel this August. The Australian pop star announced on Facebook she will be playing at Rishon Lezion's Live Park on August 11. The tickets went on sale starting today on her tour site, and start at 299 shekels going up to 799 shekels. Sia's announcement further caps a string of top pop stars performing in Israel this summer, as Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez are both to perform at...

SINGAPORE (AFP) - US aviation giant Boeing scored a major victory when Singapore Airlines (SIA) ordered 20 of its new mid-size jets while production delays plague its European rival Airbus, analysts said. SIA on Wednesday announced an order for 20 Boeing 787 aircraft worth 4.5 billion dollars, just hours after publicly expressing displeasure over a fresh postponement in the delivery of the much-vaunted Airbus A380 super jumbo jet. SIA, Asia's most profitable carrier, was supposed to be the first airline in the world to launch A380 commercial services and has spent a lot of resources to publicise the feat, only...

E-mail Author Author Archive Send to a Friend Version January 13, 2006, 8:11 a.m. The Butcher with the Terror Ties The evidence mounts. Drip, drip, drip. Drop by drop, isolated news stories and emerging documents are eroding the popular myth that Saddam Hussein had no connections to Islamofascist terrorists. These revelations undermine war critics’ efforts to whitewash Baghdad’s ancien regime — such as when Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid declared: “There was [sic] no terrorists in Iraq.” Likewise, Sen. Carl Levin (D., Mich.) describes a “nonexistent relationship between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein.” Reid, Levin, and others who dismiss...

SINGAPORE, Aug. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- To be compensated by Airbus for the eight-month delivery delay of its first A380 aircraft is Singapore Airlines' (SIA) preferred option up to now, SIA's vice-president for Public Affairs Stephen Forshaw said on Tuesday. According to Channel NewsAsia report, SIA, the first customer of the largest commercial aircraft ever built, "has not ruled out a lawsuit against the plane manufacturer" while having compensation talks with it. SIA might ask for over 6 million US dollars, said the report. As a A380 plane has 555 seats, which is 30 percent more than a Boeing 747-400, SIA...

TUCSON- Tom McNamara and the Eyewitness News 4 Investigators have spent the last three months talking to experts and eyewitnesses. The stories are compelling and the evidence is frightening, and just this week, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo released a report showing that the problem is worse than anyone thought. Here's what the Eyewitness News 4 Investigators uncovered. "It's a Muslim prayer blanket. It was found about a mile and a half west from the Douglas port of entry in 2001." Singapore Airlines cargo arm has made a small piece of aviation history by winning permission to pick up freight and passengers on mainland China during flights to the US. According to a report in the China Daily newspaper, fifth freedom rights have been granted to SIA Cargo by the country's civil aviation authority. It is the first foreign carrier to be handed the concession. The airline will be able to exercise its new rights from May 22 on its route between Singapore and Chicago which involves two stops in China, at Xiamen and Nanjing. The newspaper says that China's decision...
