CHICAGO -- Four people were killed, including a 15-year-old girl, and at least 48 more have been wounded in shootings across Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. The most recent homicide happened Saturday evening in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side. Garvin Whitmore, 27, was sitting in the driver seat of a vehicle with 26-year-old Ashley Harrison about 5:20 p.m. in the 200 block of West Root when someone walked up to the vehicle and shot the man in the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

AUBURN, Mass. (AP) -- The suspect in the fatal shooting of a Massachusetts police officer died after an exchange of gunfire Sunday as authorities closed in on him at a small town residence, police said. The man, identified as 35-year-old Jorge Zambrano, burst out of a closet and opened fire on the officers as they approached him inside an apartment in Oxford, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said at a news conference. Zambrano, who authorities said had a criminal history, was taken to a hospital, where he died.

AVON PARK (FOX 13) - The Highlands County Sheriff's Office said it has arrested a suspect in the shooting that left an adult and child injured on Saturday. The victims, one being only 5 years old, were attending a 'Stop the Violence' community event at Aline McWhite Park when they were hit by gunfire around 5:30 p.m. Deputies said it was a group of men near the park who began firing shots for unknown reasons. People attending the event at the park ran from the gunfire, but the child and a 20-year-old woman were shot.
