Meet the FIRST-DEGREE murderers John Fetterman says are “just like” Morgan Freeman. "Just like" your grandfather. Like your grandmother.
  • John Fetterman, talking about convicted murderers: “People in the public think you’re talking about all a bunch of Hannibal Lecters in prison — and they’re not! They’re like your grandfather. They’re like your grandmother.”

A convicted killer is now wanted for another murder after he was freed from prison by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s (D) Conviction Integrity Unit, which has the backing of Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman. In 2021, Krasner’s Conviction Integrity Unit got a judge to throw out the murder conviction against 32-year-old Jahmir Harris who served eight years in prison. Harris was convicted for the 2012 murder of 45-year-old Louis Porter whom he was accused of shooting in the head in front of his 5-year-old son in a Philadelphia parking lot just two days before Christmas. According to prosecutors, Harris...

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D), running against Republican Mehmet Oz for the state’s open United States Senate seat, suggests that the movie The Shawshank Redemption justifies releasing convicted murderers from prison. During an on-camera interview with NBC News’s Dasha Burns, Fetterman justified his record of helping to free convicted murderers from Pennsylvania prisons by stating that actor Morgan Freeman’s character in The Shawshank Redemption is about “giving somebody a chance” as opposed to having them serve their full life sentence. Freeman’s character in the film admits to having committed a double homicide.

Frank Darabont, the director of The Shawshank Redemption, has words for the millions of people who believe his 1994 prison drama is the greatest film of all time. “I think that’s a little crackers, to be honest, especially when you think of the other films on the list.” He means films such as The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Lolita, Vertigo and foreign-language contenders like Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Conformist, Jean-Luc Godard’s Contempt, Luis Buñuel’s Belle de jour or Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. But, hey, pointy-headed film critics can have their highfalutin’ crushes. There’s no getting round...

N.J. Escapees Take Page From 'Shawshank' ScriptPrisoners Left Behind Thank You Note For Unsuspecting Guards NEW YORK (CBS) - What's been the theme of successful movies like "Escape From Alcatraz" and "The Shawshank Redemption" has become an incredible, yet frightening reality at a New Jersey jail. Razor-sharp wire, thick concrete, and jail guards couldn't keep 20-year-old Jose Espinoza, and 32-year-old Otis Blunt -- inmates barred up at the Union County Jail -- from escaping the prison over the weekend. Officials say the pair concocted an elaborate scheme that involved digging through their cell walls, similar to Tim Robbins' method in...
