A majority of Democrats — 61 percent — describe Republicans as “racist, “bigoted,” and “sexist,” according to a Monday-published poll commissioned by Axios. Thirty-one percent of Republicans describe Democrats the same way. The online poll surveyed 3,215 U.S. adults, and has a margin of error of three percentage points. Fifty-four percent of Democrats view Republicans as “ignorant,” with 49 percent of Republicans similarly viewing Democrats. Fifty percent of Republicans cast Democrats as “evil,” with 44 percent of Democrats doing the same with Republicans.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and 176 Democrat members of Congress have sponsored a bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) that removes the references to women. “Children, youths, and adults" are replacing the wording “women and children.” What to make of this? Confusion about what gender means now that “male and female” are being removed from the liberal agenda? Acquiescence to an activist, identity politics that seeks to elevate fluid gender perceptions above biological sex? It’s a travesty women would no longer be the focus of the Violence Against Women Act. The left’s double speak around sexism...

After reportedly telling TIME magazine that the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential candidate “better be a while male,” Michael Avenatti issued a series of defenses for his comments via Twitter. The prominent lawyer denied making any such remarks, calling them “bullsh**t.” In an interview with TIME published on Thursday, Avenatti discussed the next Democratic presidential candidate. Avenatti himself has toyed with the idea of running, and has not ruled out the possibility. “I think it better be a white male,” Avenatti told TIME. “When you have a white male making the arguments, they carry more weight. Should they carry more weight?...

Excuses, excuses: Hillary Clinton has blamed her election loss to Donald Trump on just about everything imaginable — except herself. Now, she’s blaming it on the fact that POTUS Trump’s a man. In an interview with CBS’ “Sunday Morning,” Clinton said the way then GOP-nominee Trump debated her was “filled with sexism.”

The California Legislature passed, and Gov. Jerry Brown signed, a new law requiring that every corporation located in the state have at least one female board member by the end of 2019 and three by the end of 2021. Democrat State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, author of the legislation, asserted that the new requirement "will make businesses more successful. Everyone knows that women are smarter than men. Requiring that they be given more leadership roles will inject a greater degree of raw intelligence into corporate decision-making." The legislation is modeled on similar laws in Norway and France. "If a pair of...

Imagine a conservative saying on MSNBC that female Dem senators were being "so emotional, almost hysterical....behaving as if it's their time of the month." Does anyone doubt that said conservative would be forcibly escorted off the set? Yet on Ari Melber's MSNBC show The Beat Thursday night, Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin, speaking of Republican senators who had spoken out on the Kavanaugh confirmation, said: "First of all, I just want to comment on that appearance by those senators today. They are so emotional, almost hysterical. I mean, I would make a joke about it, that they're behaving as if...

Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday signed a bill making California the first state to require public companies to have at least one woman on their board of directors to advance gender equality and help break the corporate glass ceiling. The bill, SB 826, by Sens. Hannah-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara, and Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, was designed to combat bias against experienced, qualified female employees in the workplace. “Yet another glass ceiling is shattered, and women will finally have a seat at the table in corporate board rooms,” Jackson said Sunday on Twitter as she thanked the governor for signing the...
  • Hirono defends sex-selective abortions

Rep. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, a candidate for U.S. Senate, defended sex-selective abortions and criticized Senate Republicans for opposing abortions instigated because the fetus is a girl. "To many cultures, particularly the Asian culture, this presented the prospect of a doctor grilling an Asian woman for example," Hirono, a Japanese immigrant, said at the Netroots Nation convention. Hirono made clear that she did not oppose sex-selective abortions. "How can we criminalize a decision that should be up to the woman and her doctor?" she asked. Hirono also maintained that "there really is a war on women in Congress." Although President Obama...

This is an formal survey. Gents, you'll see why it's women only. Ladies, it doesn't matter if you believe Dr. Ford or not. Do you think she is asking for extra special handling because she is a woman? Do you think she is being treated differently because she is a woman? You can say if you believe her or not, but the real questions are above.

When Apple released its iPhone XS line, with screens that range from 5.8 inches to 6.5 inches, they became the company’s largest phones yet. But the big screens have triggered a backlash from women who say the device is too large for the average female hand. “Women like me with small hands who need the most secure phone for safety reasons are stuck with something they can’t hold and constantly risk dropping,” tweeted sociology professor Zeynep Tufekci, who teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “Some people like the bigger phones. Fine. Keep an alternative for the...

Paul Feig, director of 2016’s female-led Ghostbusters reboot, says the movie was caught in the same misogynistic “vortex” as then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. “I have been dying for somebody to look at Hillary Clinton’s campaign and us, because we were caught in the exact same vortex,” Feig told The Telegraph when speaking about new Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively mystery-thriller A Simple Favor. “It was shocking. I still think about it a lot, honestly — sometimes I’m like, ‘OK, stop thinking about it.’ Because I’m really proud of the movie, and while people still send me mean things, overwhelmingly more...

Umpire Carlos Ramos appeared to receive an apology from one of his severest critics on Thursday – as figures emerged showing that male players are penalised far more often than women for bad behaviour. The Portuguese official was pictured in Croatia talking with USTA President Katrina Adams, with witnesses claiming they overheard her saying sorry for the fallout over the Serena Williams sexism row in the US Open final. The conversation — prior to America's Davis Cup semi-final in Zadar — coincides with Sportsmail obtaining data from the last twenty years of Grand Slams displaying the misdemeanours of the two...

Imagine a world with affordable, clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and decent work and economic growth for all. That is the world the United Nations imagined when it defined the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development with “the desire to create a future where there is no poverty, the planet is protected, and all the people enjoy peace and prosperity.” But the reality is, that world can’t exist without the equal participation, and leadership, of women—as business and political leaders, investors, and contributors to the global economy.

A couple of years ago, QB Colin Kaepernick got benched because he couldn't play anymore. As I recall, he was regularly passing the ball to the other team in what we call "interceptions." Colin got benched and turned into a political philosopher. He could have worked on his deteriorating skills and tried to get his old job back. Not Colin. He found his "inner Che," and we know the rest of the story. The NFL is now all about Colin, and the fans are not tuning in. Now Nike is referring to his act as some kind of "sacrifice." Sorry,...

Serena Williams' claims of sexism in the US Open final have been backed by the governing body of women's tennis. WTA chief executive Steve Simon said the umpire showed Williams a different level of tolerance over Saturday's outbursts than if she had been a man. She got a code violation for coaching, a penalty point for racquet abuse and a game penalty for calling the umpire a "thief" in the defeat by Naomi Osaka. The American said it was "sexist" to have been penalised a game. "The WTA believes that there should be no difference in the standards of tolerance...

Robots can develop prejudices like “racism and sexism” all on their own, a shocking new study has found. Artificial intelligence experts performed thousands of simulations on robot brains, revealing how they split off into groups and treat “outsiders” differently. Computer scientists and psychologists from Cardiff University and MIT teamed up to test how robots identify each other.

Sexism strikes again! When women mess up in public, it attracts more attention than when men do! Who knew? But fortunately, we have Mika Brzezinski to enlighten us. On today’s Morning Joe, speaking of the stumbles of socialist superstar Alexandria Ocasio-Ortez, Mika Brzezinski said: “Women are learning, in real time, to fail publicly. Andrea [sic] Ocasio-Cortez has had a rough run since she won in New York. But, we do it! Just like men. And we have a bigger reaction to it, because for some reason, when women fail, it’s much more of a story than men.”Get the rest of...

A seven-year-old girl in New Zealand has convinced the country's transport agency to change its road signs to be more inclusive to women. The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is set to change signs that say "Linemen" to "Line Crew" after Zoe Carew pointed out that "women can be line workers too". Line workers maintain power, telecommunications and other cabling. Zoe said that the sign was "wrong and unfair" to women who wanted to be line workers. NZTA praised her suggestion, saying "great ideas can come from anywhere". https://twitter.com/nzta_news/status/1024056804324470784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1024056804324470784&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fworld-asia-45015442 Seven-year-old Zoe was upset when she saw the "Linemen" signs while on...

Yesterday the Senate was asked to vote on whether the best thing to do to prevent the assault, rape and murder of women is to arm them. I voted no, because I don’t believe that putting more weapons in the hands of the public will make women safer in their homes or on the streets at night. I also don’t think that women should continue to be made to have to take responsibility for the violent crimes and behaviour that some men perpetuate. Truth is, every woman I know has felt unsafe or intimidated at some point, whether it was...

“Ocean’s 8” currently sits at a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s enough for a “fresh” rating, but perhaps not as high as the studio or the stars of the film had hoped for. Well, if you talk to a couple of the actresses involved in the female-led heist film, they have an idea why that might be – a lack of diversity among the film critics. The issue of white men dominating film criticism is a bit of a hot-button issue over the last week or so. Ever since a report was published that shined a light on the fact...
