Donald Trump has taken the unprecedented step of requesting his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, receive top-secret clearance to join him for his Presidential Daily Briefings, which began Tuesday. Multiple sources tell NBC News Trump received his first briefing on Tuesday and designated both Kushner and Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn as his staff-level companions for the briefings going forward. While Flynn has the necessary security clearance, Kushner does not, and it could take weeks — or even longer — for him to receive it.

President-elect Donald Trump’s children say they want no official role in their dad’s administration, but his team has reportedly asked the White House about getting them top-secret security clearances. The Trump transition team has asked the White House to explore the possibility of getting his adult children top secret security clearances, CBS News reported. The report did not name which children he’s seeking for the clearance for, but his oldest kids, Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka, were often on the campaign trail for him and served as his advisers. While government rules bar Trump from giving his children White House...

Politico reports that Hillary Clinton sent her daughter Chelsea an email message that contains information the State Department deems classified. The email, part of a new batch released today, originated with White House Deputy National Security Adviser Michael Froman and was forwarded to the former secretary of state by her policy aide Jake Sullivan. Hillary Clinton sent it along to her daughter’s email account with the notation: “See below.” The subject matter of the message is unclear. However, Politico reporters Josh Gerstein and Nolan McCaskill suggest that it relates to global climate change negotiations. Their view is based on the...

In less than two weeks, the Office of Personnel Management is expected to launch the new background investigation service to help fix the mess created by a series of incidents ranging from a lack of contractor oversight to the massive data breach affecting 21.5 million current and former federal employees. Officials promise the National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB) will be a much different organization than its predecessor, the Federal Investigative Services. “It will have a politically appointed director, will be headquartered in D.C. and be a full member of the Performance Accountability Council, so it aligns with customers for increased...

Either Hillary Clinton lied to the FBI or she lied on a State Department form as she began her tenure as Secretary of State. This conclusion appears inescapable after Friday's FBI document release related to the Clinton email investigation. See the two conflicting documents.

Monday during the State Department’s daily briefing, Fox News reporter James Rosen pressed spokesman Mark Toner on reports that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s long time top aide Huma Abedin once worked at a radical Muslim publication that blamed the 9/11 terror attacks on America and opposed women’s rights. While Toner would not address the specific allegations, he insisted Huma Abedin was “fully vetted” for her postilion as then Clinton’s deputy chief of staff at the State Department.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton completed no security briefings or courses on the proper handling of classified materials and how to conduct secure communications while at the Department of State, according to new Obama administration legal filings before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The surprise admission was released late Friday and could reignite the controversy over Clinton’s “careless” handling of classified materials as asserted by FBI Director James Comey, which has already been a central part of the presidential race. The revelation also could renew calls for the Department of State to strip her of...

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said at his press conference on Wednesday that Congress will “look into” whether Congress can deny former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton access to classified information, if she becomes the presidential nominee, saying, “it’s the least we can do.” […] “I’ve just got to say, from my own experience, you get access to deeply classified material once you leave the convention as the nominee, on a regular basis,” he said. “It’s part of a transition government.”“With no indictment occurring, but a discussion or a call for administrative action, I think it’s the least we can...

When Hillary Clinton was first lady, she did not have a security clearance, but she was "often provided" classified information, she told her longtime friend and ABC News host George Stephanopoulos in a long-forgotten Dec. 30, 2007 interview rediscovered by The Daily Caller. It was just weeks before the 2008 Iowa caucuses and Clinton was out touting her foreign policy experience, both as a senator from New York and as first lady. She wanted to be seen as the strong and experienced choice in contrast to upstart Barack Obama, then a senator from Illinois. But during the interview, video of...

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s email scandal didn’t stop the head of the CIA from using his own personal AOL account to stash work-related documents, according to a stoner high school student who claims to have hacked into them. CIA Director John Brennan’s private account held sensitive files — including his 47-page application for top-secret security clearance — until he recently learned that it had been infiltrated, the hacker told The Post. Other emails stored in Brennan’s non-government account contained the Social Security numbers and personal information of more than a dozen top American intelligence officials, as well as a government letter...

NEW YORK – US Defense Department spokesman Mark Wright told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that security clearance could be denied to an applicant with relatives in any foreign country. “If a security-clearance applicant has relatives or other close connections to people in any foreign country, this could potentially disqualify that person from being eligible for a security clearance,” he said. But, he added, “The Federal Adjudicative Guidelines do not call for any special scrutiny for applicants with relatives in Israel.” Wright spoke on Thursday in response to the recent protest by Jewish organizations against the US Navy’s denial of...

Jews Denied Security Clearance While Huma Infiltrates the Government How the administration treats a Jewish dentist with family in Israel compared to an Islamist ally. December 24, 2015 Joseph Klein The Obama administration's anti-Israel sentiment knows no bounds. The latest example involves the denial of a security clearance to a Jewish-American dentist, Dr. Gershon Pincus, on the grounds that he has "divided loyalties." All that Dr. Pincus wanted to do was to use the experience and skills he had gained over a lifetime of private practice to give back to his country - the United States of America. He...

The Secret Service has had a bad couple of years, with prostitution scandals and security gaps that have embarrassed the agency — and in one instance, had an intruder running through the White House. As part of the effort to bolster security around the President, the agency has gone on a hiring spree, bringing in fresh talent to address some of the recent failures. The Washington Post’s Carol Leonnig, who has reported more than a few of those failures, now reports that the rush to man the posts has resulted in agents working in sensitive areas without the proper...

Saying she still has no idea who sent her a box of dead fish, former top homeland security bioweapons official Maureen McCarthy says she has resigned from the department and begun legal action to clear her name. Occasionally breaking into tears during a 45-minute telephone interview, McCarthy called her resignation "involuntary" and said she had suffered severe financial distress since being suspended without pay in February over the incident. "I resigned against my will," she said. "I had no income, and I couldn't use my accrued annual leave" for cash. "By resigning I got that back," she said, and could...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton entrusted her email server to an IT firm that was not cleared to handle classified materials, according to the chief spokesman for the Defense Security Service. The DSS is an arm of the Defense Department and is the only federal agency authorized to approve private sector company access to sensitive or confidential material. The agency reviews and approves private contractors to assure they have secure facilities and approves security clearances for employees to clear them for access to sensitive or classified materials. Since 2013, Clinton used Platte River Networks, a small Denver-based company, to...

Security experts say that if Hillary Rodham Clinton retained her government security clearance when she left the State Department, as is normal practice, it should be suspended now that it is known her unprotected private email server contained top secret material. “Standard procedure is that when there is evidence of a security breach, the clearance of the individual is suspended in many, but not all, cases,” said retired Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin, who was deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence in the George W. Bush administration. “This rises to the level of requiring a suspension.” A State Department official...

FBI investigation into Democratic presidential front-runner expands its reach Tasked with digging into the security of Hillary’s home brewed email server, the FBI investigation into presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is expanding it’s reach. A local CBS News affiliate reports the Denver based Platte River Networks received a visit from the FBI last week regarding former Secretary Clinton’s email. Platte River Networks handled the Clinton’s email accounts though there’s been no public explanation as to what that entailed. It’s been confirmed by both the intelligence community and the office of the Inspector General that classified information was transmitted through...

The prolonged hacking into the White House Office of Personnel Management, which put the personal information of at least some 21.5 million past and current federal employees in jeopardy, is only the beginning of the security threat to the Obama Administration and its successors, a number of top-level experts in cybersecurity have told Fox News. The attack has been frequently sourced as coming from China. The experts warned that the entire U.S. national security clearance system could be compromised, that future senior government leaders and advisors could be targeted even before taking office, and hundreds, perhaps thousands, of government officials...

Those of us who have had security clearances in the past endured plenty of lectures on the need to secure sensitive material. The Office of Personnel Management in the Obama administration apparently needed to listen a little more carefully. A hack by China’s intelligence service not only exposed four million current federal employees, but also thirty years of data from security clearances, with the most personally sensitive information possible now exposed to foreign spies:(VIDEO-AT-LINK) Data stolen from U.S. government computers by suspected Chinese hackers included security clearance information and background checks dating back three decades, U.S. officials said on Friday,...
