A pickup-driving image helped put Scott Brown in the U.S. Senate, so is Mitt Romney hoping it will drive him him to the White House? The 2008 Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts governor drove a beat-up pickup to a New Hampshire fundraiser last night. He's also driven it to other political events as he weighs another run in 2012. Spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom says Romney has owned the Chevy since 2002 and uses it for errands around his New Hampshire lakeside vacation home.

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. - A woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police said she let her daughter ride in a box on top of their van. Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said 37-year-old Jackie Denise Knott was arrested Sunday after police received a call of a minivan traveling on U.S. 431 with a large cardboard box on top with a child inside. Smith said the woman told police the box was too big to go inside the van, and that her daughter was inside the box to hold it down.

Anne Romney, wife of presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, has posted an entry on the family blog, Five Brothers, about the family's dog, Seamus, in response to the media reaction to an article in the Boston Globe last Wednesday that caused an outcry in the blogosphere. The Globe article reported that Romney attached a dog carrier to the luggage rack atop the family's station wagon, protected by a windshield, and drove with Seamus in the carrier on a 12-hour vacation trip to Ontario in 1983. Yesterday, Mitt told Pittsburgh reporters that Seamus the Setter "loved" his 12 hour open-air thrill ride on top of the family station wagon and that he "liked fresh air." If all the Romneys express their love for fresh air the same way as Seamus, I think his administration might have a more immediate enivornmental pollution problem than global warming on its, uhm, hands.
