Sharon Osbourne has left The Talk following a dispute over her defense of Piers Morgan's criticism of Meghan Markle, CBS confirmed in a statement on Friday. Osbourne, 68, ended her more than a decade with the daytime chat show following the heated on-air debate on March 10, which sent the production into a hiatus that has lasted two weeks. The controversy began when Osbourne delivered a vociferous defense of her friend Piers Morgan, who quit Good Morning Britain after furious criticism of his staunch insistence that he did not believe Markle's explosive claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

After taking a hiatus from her post on The Talk Julie Chen returned to CBS to host Big Brother, but chose not to address the latest allegations of sexual misconduct against husband Leslie Moonves for most of the show. That was all until the very end of the episode where she seemed to show support for her husband, by signing off on the show with: "I'm Julie Chen Moonves. Goodnight." It was off script from her usual sign off and the first time she has used the last name Moonves on the show. The morning after her husband Leslie Moonves...

“I would like to say this has been a very difficult week,” she said on “The Talk” during its first live episode Monday following a week of pre-taped episodes. “A lot of people have been hurt by this. I will say I’m proud of the show we made. This show has always been about diversity, love and inclusion. And it’s sad to see it end in this way. I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision ABC made.”

Darlene to the rescue? Roughly 72 hours after cancelling Roseanne amid controversy, ABC is looking to possibly keep the franchise alive with a spinoff centered on Sara Gilbert’s acid-tongued single mom, TVLine has confirmed. The standalone Darlene series was one of five offshoots proposed by TVLine in the wake of Roseanne‘s spectacular fall on Tuesday. ABC could not be reached for comment. It was three days ago that ABC announced it was scrapping the series’ already-greenlit 11th season after its titular star Roseanne Barr tweeted a racist “joke” about Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett. In announcing the cancellation, ABC president Channing...

With the shock of the swift and sudden cancellation by ABC of its highest-rated series Roseanne — after the series’ co-creator, star and executive producer Roseanne Barr’s racist tweets — finally starting to subside, a question emerges: What’s next? I hear executive producers Tom Werner and Sara Gilbert, the main driving force behind the revival, are expected to meet with some of the series’ writers, led by executive producer/showrunner Bruce Helford, in a few days — after the raw emotions from the abrupt cancellation have cooled off — to kick around possible ideas for continuing the show without Barr. The...

Roseanne Barr, the sitcom superstar fired by ABC Tuesday over a racist tweet, did not react well to statements released by her Roseanne co-stars Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman. Gilbert, who played Roseanne Connor’s daughter Darlene — and who reportedly was responsible for the sitcom’s reboot — condemned Barr in a widely-circulated tweet Tuesday. “Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least,” Gilbert said.

After a racist tweet by Roseanne Barr that created an outcry online, reruns of the Roseanne revival scheduled to air on Viacom networks Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT will be pulled from their respective schedules. Roseanne reruns will be canceled on the three channels starting Wednesday, a Viacom spokesperson said. Later on Tuesday a Hulu spokesperson also confirmed that the streaming platform would be dropping the show, writing, "We support ABC’s decision and are removing the show from Hulu." The Laff broadcast network Tuesday announced that it would be dropping reruns of the original series, which ran from 1988-97...

Sarah Gilbert, who plays 65-year-old Barr's on-screen daughter Darlene, and serves as executive producer on the show, is especially fed up, according to the insider. 'The two have been going at it over creative differences, particularly when it comes to political dialogue that is in the script,' the anonymous informant shared. Radar's source said: 'Nothing has changed with her and she is just as difficult now as she was then.' Neither Barr nor Gilbert, 43, has addressed reports of creative differences. Barr did recently address Trump's claims he's to thank for high ratings for the show's premiere, though. Speaking with...

Following the massive ratings for the premiere of the Roseanne revival on ABC, the network has renewed the series for next season, which will be the classic sitcom’s 11th overall. Sources say the order is for 13 episodes, up from 9 in the current first installment of the revival. You can watch a video of the renewal announcement below the post. “We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes,” said Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment. “The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago....

New allegations against Scott Baio surfaced Wednesday from another one of his Charles in Charge costars: Alexander Polinsky. Polinsky, 43, provided a statement to The Talk which was read out while Nicole Eggert was on the show to talk about her sexual abuse allegations against the actor. Eggert said on the show that Polinsky, who played Adam Powell on Charles in Charge, went with her to file to the police station when she filed a report against Baio and Polinsky also made his own police report supporting her allegations. In addition to supporting the actress’ claims, Polinsky alleged he was...
