The patients taken to the hospital ranged in age from 6 to 18.The gummy rings that sickened 19 people - including a 6-year-old - at quinceañera in the Mission District were laced with pot, the San Francisco Public Health Department announced Monday, after a dozen patients tested positive for the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Spokeswoman Rachel Kagan said that the final lab tests on the gummy rings have not yet come back yet from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. But she said that 12 of the 19 people hospitalized after the party at the Women's Building on 18th Street...

The union representing San Francisco police officers published a photograph of two dogs in its monthly newspaper that critics say belittles the Black Lives Matter movement and raises questions about the police force’s commitment to repairing its relationship with communities of color. The picture, which appeared on the back page of the August issue of the San Francisco Police Officers Association Journal, shows a pair of Labrador retrievers, one black and one white. The black dog has a sign around its neck reading, “Black Labs Matter,” while the white dog sports a sign reading, “All Labs Matter.”

This is what Obama thinks of the military. This is what he thinks of children. This is what he thinks of us. As J.E. Dyer reports, Obama will be naming a Naval vessel after Harvey Milk... The U.S. Naval Institute reports that Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will be naming a Military Sealift Command support ship after slain San Francisco politician Harvey Milk, a 1970s crusader for gay issues. The ship class is the John Lewis class “fleet oiler,” and USNS Harvey Milk will be T-AO-206, the second unit of the class. In company with Milk and John...
  • A Baguette Vending Machine? It's Open in San Francisco

    07/28/2016 12:15:48 PM PDT · by nickcarraway · 21 replies
There's nothing like a fresh baguette, hot out of the oven. And one company has made it as easy and quick to get as a Snickers bar. Le Bread Xpress has opened vending machines in San Francsico that produce hot and fresh baguettes in seconds. The machines are operating at the new Myriad market in the Castro. The baguettes rise at a bakery in Burlingame and are slighty baked. The baking process finishes in the vending machine. Operators say the machine is a hit in France. "In a mall next to transportation, people come back from work, get their fresh...

July 4, 1876 was the grandest day San Francisco had ever seen. For weeks, the city prepared for the young nation's centennial. They draped American flags and bunting on every doorway and balcony in town. In glowing terms, the San Francisco Bulletin reported that huge paintings of Revolutionary War heroes were placed in "conspicuous places here, there and everywhere." Businesses were on their third straight day of celebration closures. Reverends in the town's Protestant churches gave centennial-themed Sunday sermons. Catholic churches held a special High Mass. On the bay and on land, revolutionary battles were reenacted for thrilled crowds. Thousands...

Move over, humans. A robot-operated restaurant is heading to the Bay Area. Momentum Machines, a San Francisco-based startup, plans to launch a burger joint where fare is cooked, seasoned and wrapped by robots, Tech Insider reported. The still unnamed restaurant will utilize what Momentum Machines built in 2012 — a machine that could churn out 400 burgers in an hour. The innovative appliance includes a stamper that grinds and stamps custom blends of meat, a vegetable slicer, an oven to toast the meat and bun, and a bagger to wrap the complete product. Images released by the company show the...

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) -- The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a measure that would ban the city employee retirement system from investing in companies that participate in firearm and ammunition manufacturing. The resolution by the supervisors could have a ripple effect throughout the country as the debate about gun control grows in the wake of a mass shooting in Orlando two weeks ago at a gay nightclub that left 50 people dead and several others injured. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is trying to gather support nationwide by asking the mayors of both Boston and New York...

San Francisco has the unfortunate honor of appearing in a new propaganda video for the Islamic State released Sunday, no doubt to coincide with the city’s massive Pride celebration, since persecution of LGBT people is a hallmark of deranged fundamentalists. Several alleged terrorists appear on screen to praise Omar Mateen, the Orlando gay nightclub shooter, and Larossi Abballa, the man who attacked a French police officer and his family June 13, the day after the Orlando shooting. The trio reportedly encourages more attacks in the U.S. and Europe, and this is when the footage of San Francisco starts to roll...

A San Francisco man is fighting to stay in his apartment, after his landlord suddenly hiked his rent from $1,800 a month to $8,000. The tenant has appealed this incredible rent hike to the city, but it may be too late. He may find himself out of his apartment before the city's rent board decides if it's legal or not. One thing is certain -- it's one of the highest rent increases in recent history in San Francisco. The apartment building sits in the heart of North Beach, on the corner of Columbus and Scotland streets.

Did you ever - and I mean ever - think the San Francisco Gay Pride parade would be boycotted for not being queer enough? Because it was too corporate, too straight and too white…to “feel like an appropriate setting to show LGBT solidarity?” Yeah, me either. And not only that butt it’s apparently too racist as well: The Bay Area’s chapter of Black Lives Matter (BLM) has officially pulled out of San Francisco’s gay pride parade because the city is providing an increased police presence for security. –Breitbart Don’t you hate it when your identity groups fight amongst themselves?Meanwhile, in international...

Remember that little story? On March 28th of this year, a scene between two students at San Francisco State University went viral overnight. Corey Goldstein, an student, was walking through the corridors on his way to the next class, when he was confronted by Bonita Tindle, a girl he had seen but didn't know. Bonita didn't like that Corey, a young man of jewish ancestry, had chosen to style his long brown hair into dreadlocks. Somehow, Bonits had it in her mind that dreadlocks were the exclusive province of black people to wear. Her thought was anyone not black or...

March for Environmental Hope A real thing, Jimmy. If truth is stranger than fiction, it should come as no surprise that Friday marks the start of the first-ever pro-nuclear power march — probably in world history — and it all starts in San Francisco. The March for Environmental Hope, a four-day trek from the City by the Bay to Sacramento, is being pitched as a family-friendly event — and in this case that means more than funnel cakes and bounce houses. Organizers are hoping to tug on the collective heart strings of America by making this about the children, as...

There are very similar circumstances between the events, travels and behaviors of Omar Matten, his wife Noor Salman and the San Bernardino terrorists Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik. The connections include similar travel (Saudi Arabia), social Islam / Mosque connected relationships, and sham marriages to gain...
