Lefties are chuckling over Mitt Romney's inadvertent introduction of Paul Ryan as "the next President of the United States," only to laughingly and self-deprecatingly correct himself moments later. The great Barack Obama would never make such a silly mistake -- especially at such an important moment -- right? Here's Obama introducing his Vice Presidential selection for the first time in 2008:

It is official. Mitt Romney has picked Paul Ryan, the Congressman from Wisconsin, the architect of the Ryan Plan. According to news reports, Mitt Romney’s picks is somewhat controversial in terms of the timing. He decided upon Ryan during the middle of the Summer Olympics, weeks away from the Republican convention. This is what news reports are stating about Ryan. “Romney will announce his choice for Vice President in Norfolk, Virginia at 8:45am EST,” Romney campaign spokesman Lenny Alcivar told reporters in an email this evening. The announcement is being made at the USS Wisconsin. It’s still unclear whom he will choose, but the odds that it is Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., seemed to increase when National Review’s Robert Costa noted that a charter plane flew from Boston to Ryan’s hometown of Janesville, Wis., today.
