A West Point think tank has issued a paper warning America about “far right” groups such as the “anti-federalist” movement, which supports “civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government.” The report issued this week by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., is titled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” The center — part of the institution where men and women are molded into Army officers — posted the report Tuesday. It lumps limited government activists with three movements it identifies as “a racist/white supremacy movement, an anti-federalist movement and a fundamentalist movement.”...

Last week, the MyBarackObama website forced a meet-up posting down the memory hole. Obama's Organizing For America (his ground stormtrooper organization that evolved from his campaign army) section of his website had a posting for what was going to be a meet-up in Illinois to push Obamacare. Apparently, even the extremists that run Obama's website were ashamed of the intemperate rhetoric in this listing and so, down the memory hole it goes. As it happens, the meet-up writer felt compelled to call Republicans "domestic terrorists," and "proud right-wing terrorists. The posting went on with all sorts of ignorant comments and...

The SPEAKER pro tempore. Under a previous order of the House, the gentleman from California (Mr. Hunter) is recognized for 5 minutes. Mr. HUNTER. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to condemn the statements written as part of an assessment by the Department of Homeland Security classifying disgruntled veterans as a threat to U.S. security and potential recruits for right-wing extremist groups. The report was distributed among law enforcement agencies throughout the country earlier this week. When I was back home in San Diego, our El Cajon police department had actually gotten this memorandum classifying me. Because I served three tours...

That DHS right wing terrorist memo was no accident. Verum Serum dug this up from a Wolf Blitzer interview last month with Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano: BLITZER: And so do you still consider the United States be engaged in the war on terror? NAPOLITANO: I consider the United States, yes, to be very engaged in and working with our international partners and others in preventing terrorist acts from occurring. BLITZER: Is it a bigger threat from your perspective and other [ed. - another?] al Qaeda and foreign related terror attack against the United States or domestic terrorism along...

Seventeen people have been arrested in Belgium for allegedly planning attacks aimed at "destabilising" the country's institutions, Belgian prosecutors say. Police raided army barracks and soldiers' homes across the country. The raids were part of a two-year investigation into extreme-right activists believed to be operating inside the military. Police seized weapons and a home-made bomb during raids in East Flanders, Limburg and Antwerp. Searches were carried out simultaneously in five barracks and at 18 private addresses in a wide-ranging operation, Belgian radio reported. Those arrested were mainly "soldiers and people with an extreme-right ideology who clearly express themselves through racism,...
