U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday paid his personal respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II when he stood beside her coffin, made the sign of the cross and put his hand to his heart during a visit to Westminster Hall in London. He was accompanied by first lady Jill Biden.

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden arrived in Uvalde, Texas, on Sunday to pay their respects to the 21 people killed in the tragic mass shooting at an elementary school there last week. The Bidens, who were met by Gov. Hundreds of mourners gathered today to pay their last respects to a Royal Marine killed in Iraq. Christopher Maddison, 24, was killed after being ambushed on a river patrol on the Al Faw peninsular near Basra last month. Today's service at St Mary's Church, Scarborough, was being held with full military honours. Fellow Royal Marines carried Christopher's coffin through the picturesque churchyard overlooking the resort's South Bay into the church.
