As Republican Party delegates head to Cleveland to nominate a presidential candidate, most are probably unaware that the convention is being hosted by a taxpayer-funded hotel, the Hilton Cleveland Downtown. The Wall Street Journal reports that the hotel is actually a government project, owned by Cuyahoga County via an arrangement with an entity known as a port authority. (Some GOP legislators have been promoting one in Michigan as well.) According to the Journal, taxpayers are liable for the debt this entity incurred to create the $276 million facility. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin addressed the Republican National Convention on Thursday, saying Donald Trump will unify the Grand Old Party and the country around shared values of economic prosperity and the commitment to a strong national defense. Fallin, who is the first female governor in the state's history, told delegates Trump will rebuild the military and defeat terrorism. "He believes in peace through strength and will defeat radical Islamic terrorists who seek to destroy our nation," she said.

Twitter lit up Friday night with allegations that it tried to suppress news that secret-leaking website Wikileaks exposed thousands of emails obtained from the servers of the Democratic National Committee. Friday afternoon, users noted, "#DNCLeaks" was trending, with more than 250,000 tweets about it on the platform.
