As the reality of President-elect Donald Trump settled in very early Wednesday morning, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes summed up an explanation common to many on the left: The Republican nominee pulled ahead thanks to old-fashioned American racism. But the attempt to make Trump’s victory about racism appears to be at odds with what actually happened on Election Day. Consider the following facts. Twenty-nine percent of Latinos voted for Trump, per exit polls. Remarkably, despite the near-ubiquitous narrative that Trump would have deep problems with this demographic given his comments and position on immigration, this was a higher percentage of those who...

WASHINGTON – Election eve 2016 began without any real sign of a gathering storm. No hint a popular revolt was brewing. In fact, just the opposite. The networks were reporting the mood in the inner circle of the Republican candidate was subdued, somber, tense, even foreboding – as if fearing the worst. President-elect Donald Trump (Photo: Twitter) President-elect Donald Trump (Photo: Twitter) In direct contrast, the mood in the camp of the Democratic Party presidential candidate was described as confident, expectant and already almost celebratory. Giddy. When the first polls closed on the East Coast and the first results began...

President-elect will have chance to fill Scalia’s vacancy; as nominee, he said Second Amendment was ‘under siege’ Mark H. Anderson Updated Nov. 9, 2016 WASHINGTON—Republicans took a big gamble on the Supreme Court earlier this year when they shut down President Barack Obama’s effort to fill a vacancy created by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February. Now, it appears that extraordinary bet may pay off. President-elect Donald Trump will likely get the chance to fill the seat, putting up a nominee after he is inaugurated in January before a Senate that Republicans will control next year. One hurdle...

Time to talk about politics and religion. American Jews apparently voted for Obama in record numbers both times. Did they think out of the box, or is their death wish for Israel real?

In the British city of Blackburn, with a heavy Muslim population, Trick or Treaters were ordered to avoid being on the streets in that neighborhood on Halloween. The Rebel http://www.therebel.media/_no_treats_for_muslims_multiculturalism_in_blackburn_england The flyer below was placed on public places like lamp posts and so on reveals the uniquely Islamic approach to multiculturalism, which is to say, “we don't like it, so you mustn't do it.” Not only will you not get any candy here, we don't even want to see you in the streets. Other cultures simply politely decline to participate, but rarely tell the host population not to enjoy their own...

If this were 1999—the year that I was converted and walked away from the woman and lesbian community I loved—instead of 2016, Jen Hatmaker’s words about the holiness of LGBT relationships would have flooded into my world like a balm of Gilead. How amazing it would have been to have someone as radiant, knowledgeable, humble, kind, and funny as Jen saying out loud what my heart was shouting: Yes, I can have Jesus and my girlfriend. Yes, I can flourish both in my tenured academic discipline (queer theory and English literature and culture) and in my church. My emotional vertigo...

A group of prominent African-American church leaders delivered a letter to Hillary Clinton on Monday calling on her to show them the same respect she shows “wealthy white donors.” The letter, which is signed by 26 pastors and religious leaders, including Jacqueline Rivers of the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies in Boston, states they’re concerned a Clinton presidency would mean their religious liberties would be under attack. In the letter, these leaders criticized Clinton for surrounding herself with individuals who are so hostile to religion.

A lay minister who is suing the Georgia Department of Public Health for religious discrimination has been directed by the state’s attorney general to relinquish his sermons to the government, according to federal court documents. “Please produce a copy of your sermon notes and/or transcripts,” Attorney General Samuel Olens wrote to attorneys representing Dr. Eric Walsh. .....Walsh said he will not comply with the request. “No government has the right to require a pastor to turn over his sermons,” Walsh said. “I cannot and will not give up my sermons unless I am forced to do so.” Walsh, a Seventh-day...

Myth: “Xmas” is a non-religious name / spelling for “Christmas”. It turns out, “Xmas” is not a non-religious version of “Christmas”. The “X” is actually indicating the Greek letter “Chi”, which is short for the Greek, meaning “Christ”. So “Xmas” and “Christmas” are equivalent in every way except their lettering. In fact, although writing guides such as those issued by the New York Times; the BBC; The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style; and Oxford Press discourage the use of Xmas in formal writing, at one time, it was a very popular practice, particularly with religious scribes, who are thought to...

Many of you know that for more than 4 years, I have been one of the leaders of the team representing religious organizations, mostly Catholic (including Bishop David Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh’s Catholic Diocese) in his case which was consolidated in the U.S. Supreme Court with the case brought by The Little Sisters of the Poor and cases brought by others, against the government over Obamacare’s “contraception mandate.” A great number of religious groups of all denominations filed “friend of the Court” briefs supporting our position that while contraception is and could be available to all who choose to use...

This past summer, Hillary Clinton made this stunning and chilling statement in an interview on CNN: "deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs have to be changed." She did not specify in that interview which faith's religious beliefs had "to be changed." But now, thanks to WikiLeaks-released emails from the John Podesta's server, we have the context and intent of this statement. Mrs. Clinton was specifically referring to the religious beliefs of the Catholic Church. The Democratic Party is on record via Podesta exchanges that it would like to and is already working to sabotage the Catholic Church from within to...

She called the ban a struggle against...

WHEATON - While evangelist Billy Graham's son Franklin Graham stands solidly behind the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, students at the elder Graham's alma mater Wheaton College are evidently not in agreement. "Donald Trump is the 'Anti-Chrit'", a misspelled chalking said on the steps of the evangelical school's Billy Graham Center. Although Graham has declared his continuing support for Trump despite videos revealing and rumors suggesting immoral behavior which Graham preaches against, he wrote on his Facebook page this week that he's not condoning Trump's behavior: Continue reading "In front of Billy Graham Center in Wheaton, "Donald Trump is Antichrit""...

(Full Title) EXCLUSIVE — Bishop Aubrey Shines: On Immigration, Jobs, School Choice, Donald Trump Is the Candidate Black Voters Have Been Waiting For. Evangelical Bishop Aubrey Shines, an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, says the Republican presidential nominee is ready to lead black and Latino voters away from the Democratic party of slavery, welfare, and abortion. “Don’t just look for 10 percent of black Americans to vote for Donald Trump,” Shines told Breitbart News in a recent interview. “As long as Trump can bring his message of change straight to the people, I think you’re going to see more black...

Via email, campaign advisers show contempt for people of faith. It’s no secret that progressive elites despise religion, but it’s still striking to see their contempt expressed so bluntly as in the leaked email chains that include Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. Three persons tied to the Clinton campaign—two of them integrally—have been caught making bigoted comments about Catholics and Catholicism. John Podesta is Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, and Jennifer Palmieri is Hillary’s communications director. Their contempt for Catholicism is palpable. Documents have surfaced showing that they ridiculed News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch, and Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thomson, for raising their children Catholic
