The U.S. Agriculture Department says there were consumer complaints about extraneous material in 5-pound packages of Tyson White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets. A newly elected Virginia congresswoman is displaying a transgender pride flag outside her Washington office. Rep. Jennifer Wexton is a Democrat from the 10th District in northern Virginia who was sworn in Thursday. Ford is recalling more than 953,000 vehicles worldwide to replace Takata passenger air bag inflators that can explode and hurl shrapnel. The move includes 782,000 vehicles in the U.S. and is part of the largest series of recalls in U.S. history. Included are the 2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX, the 2010 and 2011 Ford Ranger, the 2010 to 2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan, and the 2010 to 2014 Ford Mustang.

The recalled items include the 24-oz plastic packages of "Zeigler a Tradition of Great Taste Red Hots" and its "Extra Hot Zeigler a Tradition of Great Taste Red Hots" version. No word on how the metal pieces could have made it into the sausages and there are no reports of side effects to the products.

The recalled product has been found to potentially have higher concentrations of ibuprofen. The company is warning that there is a possibility that infants may be more vulnerable to permanent NSAID-associated kidney injury because they are more susceptible to a higher potency level of the drug. Romaine lettuce is unsafe to eat in any form, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday in a broad alert in response to a new outbreak of illnesses caused by a particularly dangerous type of E. coli contamination. The CDC told consumers to throw away any romaine lettuce they may already have purchased. Restaurants should not serve it, stores should not sell it, and people should not buy it, no matter where or when the lettuce was grown. It doesn’t matter if it is chopped, whole head or part of a mix. All romaine should be avoided.

A large medication recall has expanded again - now to a global scale. Valsartan, a prescription medication commonly used to treat blood pressure issues and heart failure, is now under a worldwide recall. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the drug contains a cancer causing chemical called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). This chemical is toxic to the liver and other organs.
