The U.S. does not have to be Venezuela, either socialist or grid down As if the complete — and inevitable — collapse of Venezuela’s disastrous socialist experiment were not bad enough, the long-suffering population there is now five days into a near-total collapse of its electric grid. People are increasingly desperate for the most basic necessities of life, most especially water.

The average conservative and the average liberal disagree on the vast majority of the issues, and in the few cases where they can agree, each won't support the other out of sheer tribalism for his side. Since Democrats can't win the argument with reason and facts, they try to intimidate us into silence. While Trump is their focus, we should know that the loathing is really against normal everyday Americans. The Constitution plays a central role in the disagreement. On the right are those who believe in its use as a restraint on government that can be altered only by...

Commenting on the double standard the political left and the liberal media play -- conservatives are pilloried and leftists are coddled -- former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova explained that America is in a "civil war" now and that things will get much worse before they get better -- "total war." DiGenova, who also served as special counsel to investigate the Teamsters and as counsel to the Senate Select Intelligence Committee, made his remarks on the Feb. 21 edition of The Laura Ingraham Podcast. During the discussion, Igraham noted how the left and the liberal media work hand-in-hand to spin and...

What is in your bug out bag? Curious what others carry. I am in the north east so my needs / choices will probably be different than a southerner depending on season. My primary bag is what I take to work. It is intended to get me home if I have to go on hoof. Couple MRE's, stainless utensils, change of socks (x2), pair of worn in running shoes (outside bag; loose in car), three 1quart canteens hanging off the bag, 3 quart internal to the bag with "straw"; water purifiers, upgraded medical (field sutures, bandages, pressure bandages, etc); stop...

Executive Summary The nation has steadily improved its ability to respond to major disasters and the power outages that often result. But increasing threats—whether severe natural disasters, cyber-physical attacks, electromagnetic events, or some combination—present new challenges for protecting the national power grid and recovering quickly from a catastrophic power outage. The President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) was tasked to examine the nation’s ability to respond to and recover from a catastrophic power outage of a magnitude beyond modern experience, exceeding prior events in severity, scale, duration, and consequence. Simply put, how can the nation best prepare for and...

In a new DHS report that warns that the electric grid is the “prime target” of terrorists, Americans are being urged prepare for the up to six months without electricity, transportation, fuel, money and healthcare. “People no longer keep enough essentials within their homes, reducing their ability to sustain themselves during an extended, prolonged outage. We need to improve individual preparedness,” said a just-published report to President Trump. “There needs to be more individual accountability for preparedness,” adds the report, “Surviving a Catastrophic Power Outage,” from the President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council and published by the Department of Homeland Security....

CAWKER CITY, Kan. (KAKE) - A northern Kansas woman who went missing after her car got stuck in a weekend blizzard has been found dead. Authorities at the Mitchell County command center for the search say the body of 37-year-old Tanya Eshbaugh, of Cawker City, was found in a field near Waconda Lake, about three miles from her car. She was on her way to work Sunday morning when she called in to say she wasn't going to make it due to the weather and was turning around to go home. "It is believed that after getting her vehicle stuck...

The United States is vulnerable to a devastating electromagnetic pulse event caused by a high-altitude nuclear blast or solar superstorm, according to a recently published book. Peter Pry, a former CIA analyst and author of the book EMP Manhattan Project, is urging the government to rapidly harden the U.S. electric power system against EMP similar to the three-year crash program to build the first atomic bomb in 1942. "Today the United States and the world faces another existential threat—from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) catastrophe that can be caused by nature or man, and topple the technological pillars of modern electronic...

A few days ago, Jack Minzey, sent what was to be the final chapter in the long line of books and treatises which he had written. Jack went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, 8 April 2018. Professionally, Jack was head of the Department of Education at Eastern Michigan University as well as a prolific author of numerous books, most of which were on the topic of Education and the Government role therein. His interest in Conservative Politics was exceeded only by his intellectual ability. This is the last of his works: Civil War How do civil wars happen?...

aren Solomon’s new cookbook, “Cured Meat, Smoked Fish & Pickled Eggs: Recipes and Techniques for Preserving Protein-Packed Foods,” is, on the one hand, very Jewish. Ashkenazi Jews have been at the forefront of food preservation for generations and will appreciate recipes for gravlax, several types of herring and “Killer Smoked Fish Salad.” The book also has recipes for prosciutto made from duck, and for pastrami that Solomon considers one of her top crowd-pleasers. “People just love it,” she said. “There are certain things I make that make people really happy. Bacon tops the list, but that pastrami recipe is right...

The wife and I own a log cabin weekend/vacation home in WV which is running on treated well water. We also own another lot diagonally down and directly across the street on which we built a guest house/airbnb rental that we're making great money on. Instead of drilling another well when we built that house, we had another water line dug from our house down to that, and it's working great. It's a private dirt road, so we had no problem trenching the new water line across the street. A neighbor owns a hunting cabin on a lot diagonally across...

State-sponsored Russian hackers appear to have a greater interest in the U.S. power grid than meddling in the fall midterm elections since reports indicate that so far only two Senate Democrats up for re-election had online accounts tampered with, The New York Times reported Friday. There's little evidence of Russian military hackers in U.S. elections or state election systems, U.S. intelligence officials and representatives from technology companies maintain, but report there has been quite a lot of evidence pointing to foreign agents implanting malware on electric grids across the country. The Department of Homeland Security revealed this week Russia's military...

The division in America has become so dramatic over the past year that many people can only foresee it heading one place: Civil War.ThereÂ’s a pronounced uptick in violence and protests (often going hand in hand.) Free speech is being crushed by the opposition with the mere threat of violent responses. Statues and memorials are being vandalized or defended. Protesters show up armed and armored, ready for battle. The media throws gasoline on these flames with reports solely...

Freepers that are preppers. Need a good first aid kit. Am considering the one at the link and adding to it some antibiotics and other prescription drugs in consultation with my physician. Will also add some quick clot products as well. This one seems kind of expensive but has almost everything that I feel I could use as so many others seem incomplete. Thoughts...alternatives...build it myself?

The motto "always be prepared" is wise advice, but one man is taking the mantra to the max. He's got former military bunkers spanning a space that is three-quarters the size of Manhattan, and is selling them to survivalists. Survivalists and so-called "preppers" are often the brunt of jokes, with insults ranging from "paranoid" to "weird" and everything in between. But Robert Vicino couldn't disagree more. He runs a company which is currently focused on transforming military bunkers into doomsday shelters. The shelters are in Middle of Nowhere, USA, otherwise known as Edgemont, South Dakota. It's barely on the map,...

As a prepper and avid reader of post-apocalyptic fiction like One Second After, Alas Babylon, and Going Home, an EMP has long been on my mind as one of the most catastrophic threats we could face. After reading numerous reports from the Congressional EMP Commission, I figured that the reality of such a threat was a given. So when I recently wrote about making Faraday cages, imagine my surprise when I saw this comment: I appreciate the attempt to help people prepare for all kinds of disasters, but I’m going to have to throw a conversational bomb into this room,...

"If they try to remove Trump, (there) won't be a Constitution Crisis; it'll be a Revolution Crisis," a call in guest told a popular U.S. talk show host recently. With a population of 325 million and over 300 million firearms, America’s gun owners have no intention of allowing gun grabbers to steal their lawfully owned firearms. Amendment II of the US Constitution states "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The militia acts of 1792 and 1903 are giving militia groups...

In this May 21, 1956, file photo, the stem of a hydrogen bomb, the first such nuclear device dropped from a U.S. aircraft, moves upward through a heavy cloud and comes through the top of the cloud, after the bomb was detonated over Namu Island in the Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands. North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho said his country may conduct a "historic" hydrogen bomb test in the Pacific Ocean. Many experts think North Korea wouldn't do something so risky, but it's hard to rule out given North Korea's steadily expanding nuclear and missile tests. AP Parts...
