A lead United Nations agency overseeing food and agriculture policy is expected to issue a road map in the coming weeks which will call on the West, including America, to dramatically reduce its meat consumption. The UN's Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) will publish its so-called global food systems’ road map during the upcoming COP28 climate summit in Dubai which will kick off on Thursday and extend nearly two weeks until mid-December. FAO's first-of-its-kind document will recommend nations that "over-consume meat" to limit their consumption as part of a broader effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Bloomberg reported.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) is weighing a push to end or repeal a grandfathering clause in a gun control bill in order to force residents to hand over any AR-15s. The CT Mirror noted that Connecticut’s General Assembly has passed two “assault weapons” bans, and each time, the bans had a grandfather clause, allowing those who already owned the banned firearms to keep them.

Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee (D) signed legislation this week banning ammunition magazines that hold more than ten rounds and giving current owners of said magazines six months to surrender them. The Providence Journal reports that current owners of “high-capacity” magazines also have the option to modify them so they hold ten or fewer rounds, or “transfer them to people in states where they are legal.” McKee also signed H.7457, which raises the legal age for gun purchases from 18 to 21 and raises the legal age for purchasing ammunition to 21 as well. The U.S. is asking other countries to agree to a 15% global minimum corporate tax, as part of international efforts to dissuade companies from seeking lower taxes outside of their home nations, Bloomberg News reported. “A global corporate minimum tax rate would ensure the global economy thrives based on a more level playing field in the taxation of multinational corporations,” the Treasury Department tweeted.

The CDC on Friday issued its strongest mask guidance yet during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling for "universal mask wearing" in all activity outside of one's home. New York Gov.
