A little-known virus is causing a big fuss in Micronesia, the Pacific island nation partly managed by the United States. The Zika virus, spread by mosquitoes, produces an itchy rash, pinkeye, joint pain and fever. Since its discovery 60 years ago in an ill monkey in the Zika forest in Uganda, it has caused rare cases and outbreaks in Africa and Southeast Asia. There is no specific treatment or vaccine. Now Zika has made its first appearance in Micronesia, on the island of Yap, where health officials say there have been at least 42 confirmed cases and 65 probable ones....
  • Bob Costas: My Armed Security Doesn't Make Me a Hypocrite on Guns

On March 9th NBC's Bob Costas dismissed criticism of his having armed guards while disparaging "gun culture" by saying his guards were NBC and NFL security, not "personal" bodyguards. He did this while being interviewed by Fox News's Howard Kurtz, who brought up Costas's December 2012 halftime criticism of "the NFL's gun culture." Kurtz said, "You were accused of injecting politics into halftime, and Fox News's Greg Gutfeld said you were 'a hypocritical buffoon' because you're in New York, and you're surrounded by armed guards, and you don't have to worry about safety."

Bob Costas got his infamous case of Olympic pink eye from botched Botox, a source claims to Page Six. NBC’s prime-time Olympics host, who had to take a six-day absence after coming down with viral conjunctivitis in both eyes, contracted the infection after a Botox procedure to smooth out wrinkles prior to the Olympics. Our source said, “Bob’s eye infection was due to botched Botox. This isn’t the first time he’s had it.” NBC strongly denies that Costas — who arrived to host the games in Sochi with a forehead smoother than the Olympic luge track — developed the infection...
  • Pink Eye Home Remedy (for my fellow ACA victims)

I used this again this week (with great results) so I want to share, since we're all paying the first $6000 dollars out of pocket now for healthcare. My little girl came home from school Wed and one of her eyeballs was red. Throughout the evening, it got worse. She started to get the eyeball snots in the inside corner, and along the lower lashline. I sent Hubby to the store for activated charcoal. This is the exact product he bought at CVS, around 10 bucks. It can be found in the aisle by the Tums and Maalox, because it's...

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper was in Portugal last week shooting a story for CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes,” and he ended up being temporarily blinded for 36 hours. He recounts the harrowing experience on his daytime talk show “Anderson Live.” In a nutshell, he was shooting out at sea, and sunlight reflecting off of the water burned his retina: “I wake up in the middle of the night and it feels like my eyes are on fire, my eyeballs and I think oh maybe I have sand in my eyes or something. I douse my eyes with water. Anyway, it turns...

A Catholic camp for boys in Gilmanton ended a session one week early because of "a number of illnesses running rampant" among campers, a diocese spokesman said. Ten campers had gone home and an additional 12 were sick at camp when the director of Camp Fatima ended a two-week session Friday, said Kevin Donovan. The illnesses included one confirmed case of swine flu as well as another flu strain, pinkeye, strep throat and upper respiratory infections, he said. Most of the 276 campers went home, although some who live far away and plan to attend the next session remain, he...

The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!
