Many African-Americans are expressing outrage over a testy exchange between President Donald Trump and a veteran black journalist, with many considering the incident to be the latest indication of his inability to relate to them. Already skeptical of Trump, many blacks said they were exasperated by the fact that, during his news conference on Thursday, the new president asked April Ryan, longtime White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, to help broker a meeting for him with black lawmakers. "Will you meet with the Congressional Black Caucus?" Ryan asked. Trump responded: "I would. You want to set up the...

Lillpop In the summer of 2008, Dallas County commissioners discussing traffic ticket collections were jolted when Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, used the term “back hole” to describe the recurring problem of lost paperwork. Mayfield’s statement was immediately challenged by Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black. Price belted out a loud “Excuse me!” and proceeded to upbraid Mayfield by saying that the problem of lost paperwork was the unwelcome byproduct of a “white hole.” That caused Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy. This dust...

...If Fox News wants to play clips of the same offensive sound bites every day from now until November, that's their right, but that type of coverage does a disservice to their viewers and to a nation that is facing serious challenges that merit thoughtful and honest reporting.

AMMAN, Jordan - Mohammed Domeh was relaxing on his living room sofa, watching the TV news when he heard the fateful words: President Bush was flatly ruling out the return of Palestinians such as himself to what is now Israel. "When I heard what Bush had to say — and I am saying this as a Palestinian intellectual — I wished I could wear an explosive belt around my waist and blow myself up in front of Bush," said Domeh, 44. Such anti-American rage, from an otherwise mild-spoken, middle-class Palestinian writer, is being echoed around the Arab world at a...
