Have a look at this article, whose nominal subject is academic freedom and whose implicit subject is the crudity and ineptitude with which a professor at a third tier state university can go about instructing his students: [Liberty Counsel’s] complaint relates to Grace Lewis, a high school student enrolled at Polk State through the Florida Virtual School Full Time program … Liberty alleges that Russum is a “radical ideologue, bent on imposing his views on students, in violation of acceptable academic standards and the U.S. Constitution.” As evidence, it cites multiple elements of the syllabus and assignments for the...

Bricks were thrown through the windows of the Albemarle County GOP headquarters overnight in what appears to be the Charlottesville area’s latest act of politically fueled vandalism. County GOP Chairwoman Rachel Schoenewald arrived at the office in the Albemarle Square shopping center Friday morning to find three windows shattered. “Hopefully, everyone will conduct themselves as community members and that this violence does not escalate or continue,” she said.
  • Ohio Congressional Candidate: TELL F.E.C. TO PROSECUTE ABC/DISNEY

TELL THE F.E.C. TO PROSECUTE ABC/DISNEY FOR CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAW VIOLATIONS The perverse obstinance of ABC/Disney in plowing ahead with their political hit piece on the Democratic party, "The Path to 9/11", will likely not only subject them to defamation suits from Bill Clinton himself, and from his cabinet officials that they smeared, they deserve to be prosecuted by the Federal Election Commission (F.E.C.) for campaign finance law violations. And if enough of us raise our voices, we can make it happen. Although it was previewed only to hard core right wing ideologues (even Clinton was refused a request for...
  • Huffington Post Shows Joe Lieberman In Blackface

From Zsa Zsa Huffington's site: Jane Hamsher: On the Ground with Lamont/LiebermanE.J. Dionne repeats a piece of conventional wisdom that irks the hell out of me every time I hear it - if Lieberman loses the primary and runs as an independent it will distract everyone from the true villain, the GOP, and therefore we should just give him a pass.  Balderdash.  Lieberman has been an integral part of the GOP's bully machine for the past six years, the Democrat useful for his willingness to dicipline his own kind.  Ned Lamont is running a legitimate primary contest and Joe is...

It's become more and more apparent to me over the past five years that all the activism and non-violent protesting in the world will do precisely squat. When you're dealing with evil people who have no shame, the old rules of the game don't and, indeed, can't apply if you have any hope for success. Hundreds of thousands of people have marched, millions of letters have been written, tens of millions of votes cast, and hundreds of trillions of electrons expended pontificating on blogs...for nothing. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change. Not unless it comes in the form of something...

The following letter appeared in the 11/04 edition of The New York Times: To the Editor: I write to say something I feel deeply. I am a woman from Texas and a devout Christian. I am someone who prayed after 9/11 and sent money to help. I voted for George W. Bush. I will do all in my power to respect the Democratic positions and reach out for unity as a country, as a neighbor. I want the United States to be united! Let's reach out to one another as Americans, regardless of party affiliation. Lissa MorrisSan Antonio, Nov. 3,...

. No, not from us liberals, but you can't alienate 6 billion people without serious repercussions, and much as you'd like to, you can't kill off 1.3 billion Muslims. More lethal terrorists are, as I write, being created. There will be a day of reckoning, probably sooner, rather than later. My regret, is not that you will suffer, but that the rest of us will. There will be a terror attack that will dwarf 9/11, both in terms of human loss and financial devastation. And the world will not only turn its back, it will take the opportunity to strike...

I have now read about four attacks on GOP headquarters in Washington DC, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Florida. The one that most concerns me is the DC burglary during which they stole 3 computers of key campaign staff. What I haven't heard is WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT???The DC robbery is definitely WATERGATE material, so why is nothing being reported? Is an investigation under way? Has anyone heard anything more about this?
