The off-duty FBI agent whose weapon discharged at a Denver nightclub has been identified as Chase Bishop of the bureau's Washington Field Office, law enforcement sources told CBS News. Bishop was apparently on a personal trip in Denver when his weapon went off Sunday after he did flip while dancing, wounding another person in the leg. The name of the victim has not yet been released but authorities said he is expected to be OK. CBS Denver reports that Bishop was taken to the Denver Police Department headquarters and later released to an FBI supervisor. Possible charges are pending lab...

Conservative activist Dinesh D’Souza faced political persecution after he directed and released anti-Obama film, “2016: Obama’s America”. He was indicted over illegal campaign contributions. It was an obvious witch hunt. On Thursday, President Trump announced publicly he would be issuing a full pardon to Dinesh D’Souza. The New York Attorney General is so angry over the presidential pardon of Dinesh that she wants to get rid of double jeopardy to go after him again. Dinesh D’Souza celebrated on his Twitter account with an epic smack down of the Obama hack who made his life hell, former US Attorney Preet Bharara....

The “complexity” of the case warrants excluding the speedy trial law and delaying the trial, Mueller argued in Tuesday’s court filing. .... Former federal prosecutor and National Review Contributing Editor Andrew C. McCarthy told TheDCNF it was too late for Mueller to claim that the complexity of the case warranted a delay. “Speedy trial rights belong to the defendant, and if the defendant pushes for a trial within the 70 days, the government has little cause to complain,” McCarthy said. “If the case was too complex, the government had the option of holding off on seeking an indictment until it...

The UW-Milwaukee transgender student who was singled out by controversial speaker Milo Yiannopoulos sent an angry, expletive-laden filled email to Chancellor Mark Mone, accusing the chancellor of insulting her and engaging in “goddamn lip service.” “GO F-CK YOURSELF,” Adelaide Karen Kramer started the email, which she sent to the chancellor and 458 members of the university community on December 14, the morning after Breitbart editor Yiannopoulos spoke to a sold-out crowd in the Wisconsin Room at the UWM Student Union. Kramer was responding to an email that Mone sent to all students and faculty after Yiannopoulos’ incendiary speech. *** In...
  • President Obama Must Not Surrender to Russia on Missile Defense (But he will!)

Reports in the Polish media strongly suggest that the Obama Administration is about to abandon its plans for "third site" missile defense installations in Poland and the Czech Republic. Abandoning the third site would represent a huge turnaround in American strategic thinking on a global missile defense system and a massive betrayal of two key U.S. allies in Eastern and Central Europe. Such a move would also significantly weaken America's ability to combat the growing threat posed by Iran's ballistic missile program and would hand a major propaganda victory to Moscow. President Obama's Lukewarm Approach to Missile Defense Since taking...

  • Why didn't Obama mention that General Shinseki was *born* in Hawaii?

In his announcement today, Obama stated that both he and General Shinseki "grew up in Hawaii". According to Wikipedia, the general was also born there: "Shinseki was born in Lihue, Kauai in the then Territory of Hawaii." Why didn't Obama simply state instead, that both he and the General were born in Hawaii and grew up there? Anyone? Anyone?

It's hard to get them out of my head. Here's the story if you missed it: Iraqi Islamists are threatening shepherds with violence if they don't clothe their goats with diapers to avoid tempting lonely shepherds. Another facet of the "new Middle East." Yes, it's funny. But it's also revealing about the way fundamentalism and sex interact. What most male-run religious fundamentalisms include is a major exception for the hetero-male sex drive. Sex outside of missionary-position reproduction with legal wife/wives is officially verboten; but when frail male flesh gives in, the blame is almost always the object of desire -...

A bill requiring students to learn about the contributions homosexuals have made to society and that would remove sex-specific terms such as "mom" and "dad" from textbooks has passed another hurdle on the way to becoming the law of the land in California. Having already been approved by the state's Senate Judiciary Committee, SB 1437, which would mandate grades 1-12 buy books "accurately" portraying "the sexual diversity of our society," got the nod yesterday of the Senate Education Committee. The bill also requires students hear history lessons on "the contributions of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender to...

An e-mail is bouncing around the Internet with photographs of alleged Bolivarian gunmen in an area of Caracas that appears to be 23 de Enero. Many appear to be teenagers, they are wearing Bolivarian t-shirts with Che Guevara's face super-imposed on Venezuela's national colors, and they are armed with Glock 9mm semi-automatic handguns. According to Pensamiento Militar Venezolano 2005, a strategic and tactical military defense document drafted under the direction of President Hugo Chávez, the core mission of these armed youths is to turn Caracas into a kill zone where escualidos will be hunted down systematically if the Chávez regime...

COPENHAGEN -- New research indicates that parts of the brain that govern fear and anxiety are switched off when a woman is having an orgasm. In the first study to map brain function during orgasm, scientists from the Netherlands also found that as a woman climaxes, an area of the brain that governs emotional control is also heavily deactivated.

Advocates of multicultural education from schools and colleges across the country gathered in Kansas City the week before the 2004 presidential election to rededicate themselves to transforming teaching and school systems into instruments of social justice as they define it. Many of the more than 200 presentations at the 14th annual conference of the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) focused on teacher preparation as the best hope for making multicultural diversity the engine of educational progress. At one session, presenters from Central Missouri State University and local school districts expressed the view that teachers should be trained to rewrite...

CBS' "60 Minutes" will air an interview with the pop superstar tonight, marking Jackson's first public comments since his Nov. 20 arrest on suspicion of child molestation. Ed Bradley interviewed Jackson for about 30 minutes on Christmas Day at a hotel in Los Angeles. Bradley had been pursuing an interview with Jackson even before the molestation charges. The CBS newsman traveled to Jackson's Neverland estate last February for an interview, but Jackson got cold feet and canceled it at the...

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Reuters) - Microprocessor maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) on Thursday said it will lay off 2,000 employees, or 15 percent of its work force, part of its effort to trim expenses by $350 million in 2003 as sales slump. The company said it will reduce its global staff by 2,000 positions by the end of the second quarter of 2003, leading to a charge of ``several hundred million dollars'' in the fourth quarter. The job cuts had been expected. AMD had 13,000 employees at the end of the third quarter. Some 1,000 employees were notified on Thursday,...
