A U.S. District judge ruled on Wednesday that the Department of Justice must turn over a privilege log of documents withheld by the agency on Operation Fast and Furious. Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled that the Justice Department must provide the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee with a list of documents — but not the documents themselves — withheld on the gunrunning operation.

On July 31, when all eyes were focused on the Ted Cruz-stoked chaos unfolding in the House chamber over the border bill, the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee did something rather remarkable. It voted to declassify its Benghazi report. After two years of investigation, it found no evidence to buttress any of the conspiracy theories surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans. We didn’t get this news from committee chairman Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.). Nope. There was a story in the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday. A press release...

Folks. Ross Perot was lambasted for using the term. Now the president uses it as often as the “you can keep…” and “period” verbiage. As always and forevermore, it is not what is said, but who says it. Folks. As if those who went through enhanced interrogations were snatched from a Norman Rockwell scene and placed on a waterboard. Hardly. The president, and the attorney general, still seem bent on proving that the Bush administration engaged in “torture.” We seem to forget the moment in history in which the procedures in question were conducted. Did Obama and Holder see the...

The Qataris, and their ruling al-Thani family, are slavers, narcotics traffickers, and financiers of international terrorism. They also happen to be America’s closest ally under Obama. When analyzing the foreign policy interventions of the Obama administration with respect to the Middle East, it is hard to reconcile their respective approaches Libya (2011) and Iraq (2014). In 2011, Obama justified the military action to remove Muammar Gaddafi on the basis of anticipated genocide by the Gaddafi regime. Speaking at the National Defense University on March 28, 2011, Obama explained “I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves...

The IRS can’t say with certainty what happened to the computer hard drive used by Lois Lerner, or exactly where it is now.. On July 11, Judge Reggie Walton ordered the agency to find out what had happened to the hard drive... Manning said Lerner’s hard drive was then “delivered to the IRS Criminal Investigation Division Electronic Crimes Forensic Laboratory for additional efforts to recover data from the malfunctioning hard drive.. testimony revealed another bizarre turn in the saga: The technician, or, specialist, who tried to recover the data from Lerner’s hard drive on that June day in 2011 may...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says immigrants who came to the country illegally at a young age are now legitimate residents and should not be deported. Reid made the remarks in response to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is demanding that an emergency spending bill for the border reverse President Obama’s 2012 order halting deportations of so-called Dreamers. “Before Republicans help our Border Patrol agents and all the personnel trying to do something to handle this humanitarian crisis, they want President Obama to deport the Dreamers who are already here, legitimately here,” he said on the Senate floor Thursday...

Amid a flurry of Republican calls for a special prosecutor to investigate the Internal Revenue Service’s alleged targeting of conservative groups, the Justice Department is set to defend its own probe of the matter as exhaustive and sufficient during a House hearing Thursday on the department’s response to the scandal. A top Justice Department official will tell the hearing that the department is now looking at how some of former senior IRS official Lois Lerner’s emails disappeared -- a new area of inquiry, Attorney General Eric Holder told ABC News in an exclusive interview Friday.

Attorney General Eric Holder slammed former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Sunday, saying she is neither a very good legal scholar nor an effective vice presidential candidate. He also said he believed that some critics of the president attack him because he is the nation's first black president. If she’s demanding impeachment, it would be nice if she could at least tell us what for.If you’re familiar with the oeuvre of the late conservative Internet provocateur Andrew Breitbart, you’ll know that he’s remembered among his admirers for the cri de coeur that he offered right before his death: “Apologize for WHAT?” It’s become as much a part of Tea Party lore as Rick Santelli’s CNBC rant or South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson’s “You lie!” So you’ll pardon me if I find it just a bit ironic that Breitbart.com is where Palin chose to pen her immediately infamous op-ed...

I'm posting this in chat as I don't consider it news and, frankly, though it didn't come up in a search, I'm not completely sure it's not posted prior with a different headline and I didn't see it. I think it's appropriate to prompt specific discussion about the meaning of this statement the Puppet made, "Nothing that is taking place down there that I am not intimately aware of or briefed on." President Barack Obama

6 days before tax day liberal Christmas in 2013 Lois Lerner was emailing with one of her fellow cronies and warning them to be careful, “we need to be cautious about what we say in emails”.

Lost in much of the national debate about immigration reform is how Democrats ultimately stand to gain electorally with any legislation or executive action that would put the newly legalized residents on a path to voting. In fact, in smoking-gun audio that received almost no media exposure, a former immigration adviser to President Obama once boasted granting citizenship to millions of illegal aliens would expand the “progressive” electorate and help ensure a “progressive” governing coalition for the long term.

Disgraced ex-IRS official Lois Lerner actually printed out some of her missing emails, according to a statement by her attorney. Lerner’s lawyer Bill Taylor initially claimed that Lerner did not print out and file her emails, as the Federal Records Act required her to do, before they allegedly went missing in a 2011 computer crash and her hard drive was “recycled” by the IRS. Taylor also claimed that Lerner “did not think it was required,” despite clear instructions for employees on the IRS website. But now the story is changing. Taylor told a Virginia-based publication Wednesday that Lerner printed out...

There is a scandal going on at the Internal Revenue Service, but it has nothing to do with Lois Lerner or her missing emails. No, the real scandal is what Republicans did to cripple the agency when virtually no one was looking. Since the broad Tea Party-driven spending cuts of 2010, the agency’s budget has been cut by 14 percent after inflation is considered, leading to sharply reduced staff, less enforcement of the tax laws and poor taxpayer service. The budget cutters are also trying to prevent the agency from performing its new job of collecting higher taxes on the...

President Barack Obama told his Cabinet on Tuesday to 'be creative' looking for areas where he might be able to govern by executive action given gridlock in Congress that is hampering his agenda. In a White House meeting, Obama brought together the top officials in his government a day after conceding that a deadlocked Congress will prompt him to act on his own authority where he can on an immigration overhaul. Obama said he wants to work with Congress where possible, "but if Congress is unable to do it," then he said his Cabinet officials and agency heads should look...

“It’s good to be King,” said Mel Brooks as Louis XVI in the director/actor’s “History of the World, Part 1.” No question Brooks was onto something as the Internal Revenue Service–one of the principle organs of Barack Hussein Obama’s 2012, Reelection Campaign—just paid $50,000 dollars to settle a lawsuit brought against the Service by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Of course the settlement was paid with taxpayer dollars. During the 2012 presidential campaign, NOM accused the IRS of leaking information concerning the group’s contributors to Joe Solomese, head of the far-left Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The Huffington Post then...

The IRS will pay the National Organization for Marriage $50,000 to settle a lawsuit over claims the agency improperly disclosed confidential tax information, according to a consent judgment released this week. The lawsuit stemmed from information an IRS worker sent to an individual who identified himself as a member of the media who requested it in the midst of the 2012 presidential campaign, which he then sent to the pro-gay rights group Human Rights Campaign. The Huffington Post then ran a story noting a political action committee linked to Mitt Romney had been a donor to NOM. John Eastman, NOM’s...

Washington (CNN) - Expanding his IRS investigation by more than two decades, House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa, R-California, has sent a subpoena to the Federal Elections Commission for all communications involving former IRS administrator Lois Lerner from January 1, 1986 to the present day. This new search is the broadest-yet for records in a year-long investigation by Issa and congressional Republicans, who are trying to assess why the agency targeted tea party and other political groups for extra scrutiny.

If a certain fecal matter had been the only instance of disrepute revealed from within the ranks of the Environmental Protection Agency today, that would have been more than enough; alas… it wasn’t. (snip) The environmental agency is having trouble locating emails belonging to a former agency employee and pulling information from his crashed hard drive, House members revealed Wednesday while questioning Administrator Gina McCarthy at a hearing on complaints of mismanagement. “What is it with bureaucrats and public employees … the hard drives crash?” asked Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-Mich.). He and others on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee...
