General Mills is opposing a Minnesota amendment to ban same-sex marriage, taking a public stand on a contentious issue that most companies have tried to avoid. "We do not believe the proposed constitutional amendment is in the best interests of our employees or our state economy -- and as a Minnesota-based company we oppose it," the foodmaker said in a statement. Golden Valley-based General Mills has consistently ranked atop lists of the best corporate workplaces, including its welcoming policy toward gay and lesbian employees. But like most corporations, it has historically steered clear of controversial issues like the marriage amendment,...

OKLA. CITY — Someone using the handle “bronathan” posted a question on a Web page dedicated to Senate Bill 1733, an open carry bill. The author of the post wrote that he and his family relocated to Oklahoma more than nine months ago. After relocating, he notified Texas about it so he could change over his concealed carry license to out of state now that he is a resident here. His question: Will my Texas permit allow me to open carry or will I need to have an Oklahoma license to open carry? A fellow poster supplied what appeared to...

The American Civil Liberties Union has asked the Minnesota Supreme Court to keep off the Nov. 6 ballot a proposed constitutional amendment that would require voters to show a photo ID. The ACLU petition, filed Wednesday, May 30, argues that the ballot question is misleading and fails to inform voters of changes in election law that could undermine their right to vote. "The question is misleading and false," said Charles Samuelson, ACLU Minnesota's executive director. The question asks voters whether the state constitution should be amended to "require all voters to present valid photo identification to vote."

OWS has been 'set in place' in advance of the November election. Is this by design? Leading up to the election, 'Sandra Fluke' and 'Trayvon Martin' are SUPER-HYPED by the media to enlist sympathy for, and to rally Obama's base. Do you view the sensational nature of these events mere coincidences, or is the media seizing upon any event they believe will aid Obama's re-election?Elections in the United States have always been free, fair, without disruption (with the exception of Bush-Gore 2000) and we should expect no less. But are you uneasy about the upcoming election in light of recent...

ATLANTA (Reuters) - A rare November snowfall powdered parts of the U.S. Southeast late Monday and early Tuesday, with as much as eight inches falling on one Arkansas town and some schools closed in Tennessee. Snowfall extended through the mid-Mississippi and Tennessee valleys and as far south as Haleyville, Alabama, said AccuWeather.com meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. Parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi reported between one and three inches of snow, and more flurries were forecast on Tuesday. "It was a surprise to see it this early." said Lesley Hobbs, membership director for the Chamber of Commerce in Paragould,...

Today is Election Day across the nation, and although it is not a presidential election year, we must not underestimate the importance of going to the polls and voting. Here in South Mississippi, the editors of our largest newspaper, the Sun Herald, showed their leftist faces by endorsing the Democrat candidate for Mississippi Governor, Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree. So, it was no surprise that I could not find any Sun Herald post-coverage of the Harrison County Republican Club and the Gulf Coast 912 Project’s Get Out the Vote rally this past Friday evening in Gulfport. It was a politically star-studded...

If Barack Obama loses next November, we'll look back on Sunday -- July 31, 2011 -- as the day he became a one-termer. He demonstrated the one key quality common to all unsuccessful leaders: Haplessness. In the most confrontational partisan moment of his presidency, Obama ended up looking remarkably powerless. He didn't get his way. To put it mildly. The deal he endorsed on the debt ceiling will long be an object of debate for both right and left. There's so much for everyone to dislike in it that people are lining up to rage against it, even though it...

The body scanners—385 of them now deployed at 68 airports—have raised privacy and radiation-exposure concerns. And the pat-downs, which started Nov. 1, have drawn fire from travel groups, lawmakers, civil-rights advocates, and pilot and flight-attendant unions. The fear is that Thanksgiving travelers—many of them students, families and older people who fly once or twice a year—will be unfamiliar with TSA procedures and slow to get through checkpoints. Full-body scanners require removal of wallets, belts, jewelry and everything inside pockets. "With people getting partially molested at checkpoints, all that is going to be a real shock for them," said Greg Wells,...

I don't recall having a sense of this much excitement about any particular day since I was a kid waiting on Santa. I think tomorrow will be the future of America wrapped up in one single vote. People have had a taste of Socialism and many do not like it, but at least we exposed the sore spots for future repair. Many Socialist in congress to purge in 2012, a new President and last but not least is a complete overhaul of the MSM. Thanks Barrack for exposing these pukes so our job as patriots will be easier.

On Tuesday, it will be Obama's fellow Dems left holding the scooper John Kass October 31, 2010 As Tuesday's midterm elections approach, it's gotten so deep for the Democrats that President Barack Obama just had to make a stunning announcement. He was headlining a $7,500-per-head fundraising dinner in liberal Providence, R.I., last week, trying to drum up some last-minute support for the sagging campaign of one David Cicilline, a Democrat running for a Kennedy family seat in the U.S. House that could very well go Republican. As true representatives of the struggling middle class, the wealthy liberal guests prepared for...

If you are inclined to want to help out any additional races besides the ones you have already here are a few (not all) suggestions: Sharron Angle - running well against Reid. Probably will win. Marco Rubio - running for senate against Crist - florida. Probalby will win. Could use support though. Sean Bielat - running against Barney Frank. Within 4 points I believe. If you ever wanted to safely 'stick it' to Barney, this could be your chance. Sean Duffy - running for open WI house seat David Obey (40+ years) is not running again. expected to win. Michelle...

By all accounts, the midterm elections on November 2nd will be a landslide of historic porportion for conservatives. So what will the political and legal landscape look like on November 3rd? Irregularities are already showing up at polling places. Desperate to hold onto power, how far across the line are our current members of Congress willing to go? We have seen the model for close elections in the 2008 Minnesota Senate race. If enough doubt can be sewn into the election process, then maybe Democrats can throw a number of races into the hands of friendly courts on November 3rd.

...five well-known Hollywood Democrats -- David Geffen, Bob Iger, Peter Chernin, Haim Saban, and Ari Emanuel -- are hosting a November 4 fundraiser for Ari's brother Rahm Emanuel in his bid to become Chicago's next mayor. Rahm, a former Democratic U.S. Representative from Illinois' 5th Congressional District (2003-2009), resigned as President Obama's White House Chief Of Staff on October 1 to throw his hat into the mayoral race following the retirement of Richard M. Daley whose last name more or less owned that political office the way most families would takeover the dining table. The Hollywood fundraiser will be held...

Much back and forth has gone on this week over whether Republicans are committed to the repeal of the government takeover of health care known as Obamacare. The so-called mainstream media has gotten into the act in an effort to suppress Republican voter turnout. Having a great deal invested in the Obama façade they created, the media is once again in full protect mode trying to help Democrats avoid an out-and-out slaughter on Nov. 2. The only way to suppress GOP turnout is if disheartened voters believe their efforts to expel Democrats won’t make a difference in policy. And the...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared on the Charlie Rose show and predicted Democrats would fight off Republicans and keep the House after the midterm elections. When asked if she were invited back on the show six months from now if she’d be still be Speaker or just a representative, she responded “I have every anticipation that we will come together in a similar format as we are now as Speaker of the House.” Rose followed up by asking her why she believes that with 95 House races in play, in which she said “Well, who are they?” (cont.)

How many times have you, as a parent, had to reprimand your child for casting blame on their current personal circumstances on someone else? I have two little rugrats myself and find that to be the case often enough. I love my kiddos more than life itself and it is because of that that I am constantly grabbing their blaming finger and pushing it back towards their own chest in an effort to remind them that personal accountability for their own actions, behavior, and circumstances rest squarely on their own shoulders. I don’t want them to walk through life seeing...
