Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has been complaining a lot about money lately. Specifically, about how she doesn´t have enough to implement ObamaCare. [snip] The implication is that this is mainly the GOP´s fault — they are starving ObamaCare for money when it needs it most. The press has started to pick up on this talking point. Ezra Klein, who writes extensively on health care for the Washington Post, said Republicans are purposefully trying to derail ObamaCare´s launch.

On one hand, Progress Kentucky has succeeded in ways most political-action committees rarely do. In only four or five months of existence, they have driven the national news cycle not once but twice. Unfortunately for Progress KY and Democrats in the state, they’ve been the scandal both times. Their operatives turned out to be behind the racist tweets attacking Mitch McConnell’s wife Elaine Chao, and now they’ve allegedly managed to out-bumble the Watergate burglars in secretly recording a McConnell campaign meeting, in which they were most definitely not participants.BuzzFeed calls Progress KY the “least effective liberal group†in the state,...

On Easter Sunday, Google is honoring the birthday of the late labor organizer Cesar Chavez by placing a Chavez portrait within the middle “o” of the Google logo that appears on the homepage of the popular search engine. While Google frequently decorates its logo to celebrate various holidays and special events, it is unclear why the company chose specifically to honor Chavez’s birthday, instead of Easter Sunday. Chavez co-founded the organization now known as the United Farm Workers union (UFW). He became an iconic figure in the labor movement, with his stature only increasing since his death in 1993. President...

I'll be voting early again this year - at 7:00 am on Election Day. Don't trust the "early" voting process because it makes voting often more of a possibility. And IMO ballots are very perishable, the closer you vote to the counting, the fresher and more effective they'll be. How about any of you?

TRANSCRIPT: Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy with beautiful … somebody who really cares about and understands women. A guy who cares about whether you get health insurance, and specifically whether you get birth control. The consequences are huge. You want to do it with a guy who brought the troops out of Iraq. You don’t want a guy who says, “Oh hey, I’m at the library studying,” when he’s really out not signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act. Or who thinks that gay...

As an avid observer of the current election campaigning complete with cable news reports, pundit's opinions, Big Bird ads, debates, and accusations of "Romney Lied!" coming from the Presidents surrogates and Obama I am almost suffering from political overload. So, I took a deep breath, kicked back with a fresh cup of coffee and it came to me after I asked a simple question: WHAT HAS OBAMA ACCOMPLISHED IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS? I know, I know there is OBAMACARE but I consider that a power grab that will be destroyed rather than an accomplishment. What has he really done?...

I’m going to be charitable here and presume that the man was arrested on other issues that would not have come to light had such much light been pointed in his direction this past week. Note in the picture it is local authors, not federal authors putting him in a police car. That suggests to me there is more going on here.

Word For The Day, Wednesday, August 8, 2012--mean, median ; In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day". (in statistics) mean (or arithmetic mean) = the mean obtained by adding several quantities together and dividing the sum by the number of quantities: the arithmetic mean of 1, 5, 2, and 8 is 4. median = the middle number in a given sequence of numbers, taken as the average of the two middle numbers when the sequence has an even number of numbers:...

A man from southern Israel divorced his wife this week because she had brought 550 cats into their home. The husband, apparently not a cat lover, told the Rabbinical Court in Beersheba that he was unable to sleep in his bedroom because the surface of the marital bed was constantly covered with cats who refused to lie on the floor. The man, in his divorce request, complained that the cats also blocked his access to the bathroom and did not allow him to prepare meals in the kitchen, the Hebrew daily Maariv reported Wednesday. When he sat to eat, cats...

OTISVILLE — That's the sound of the men working on the gold-chain gang. White-collar criminals and crooked politicians are banging down the door to get into Otisville Federal Correctional Facility in New York — described by some as a castle behind bars. "You could do about anything you wanted there," claimed former inmate John Altman. "It's not just good. It's sweet. That's why you request to go there." Disgraced former state Sen. Carl Kruger will serve out his seven-year corruption sentence in the suburban Orange County lockup. His boyfriend, Michael Turano, has requested to stay there too, and with good...

he United States is worried that Shaul Mofaz and his Kadima party’s joining a unity government with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu could result in an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities at any given moment, according to a report on Channel 10 News on Thursday. U.S. government officials told Channel 10 News that they believe a Likud-Kadima joing government could make a decision about an Israeli attack on Iran at any moment and perhaps even before the U.S. presidential elections in November.

It was the infamous question uttered by Congressman Bob Etheridge in an embarrassing viral video that helped cost him his job. Now it is the same question the Congressman and others are asking about donors to a mysterious Washington-based organization that helped defeat him. A year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that may keep us from ever knowing the answer.

Even if humans stop producing excess carbon dioxide in 2100, the lingering effects of global warming could span the next millennia. The results? By the year 3000, global warming would be more than a hot topic - the West Antarctic ice sheet could collapse, and global sea levels would rise by about 13 feet (4 meters), according to a new study. Using a computer model, researchers looked at two scenarios - an end to humans' industrial carbon dioxide emissions by 2010 and by 2100 - stretched out to the year 3000.
