Tulsi Gabbard sued Hillary Clinton for defamation (and $50 million) Wednesday morning over Clinton’s comments about a “Russian asset” in the 2020 race, and the suit is filled with charged language accusing Clinton and “political elites” of harming democracy. The 16-page lawsuit includes lengthy descriptions of Gabbard’s call to public service, her childhood spent cleaning litter from beaches in Hawaii, the importance of 9/11 in her life, and her National Guard service, which she mentions 13 times. During an October 19 guest appearance on the Campaign HQ with David Plouffe political podcast, Clinton made comments about a potential third-party presidential...

Washington (CNN) -- Tulsi Gabbard filed a defamation lawsuit against Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, alleging the former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee "lied" about the Hawaii congresswoman's ties to Russia during a 2019 interview. The lawsuit stems from an October 2019 interview in which Clinton said that a Democrat running in the presidential primary was being groomed to run as a third-party candidate and was a favorite of the Russians. "I'm not making any predictions, but I think they've got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be...

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard filed a defamation lawsuit Wednesday against Hillary Clinton seeking $50 million in damages, claiming the former Democratic presidential nominee "carelessly and recklessly impugned" her reputation when she suggested in October that one of the 2020 Democratic candidates is "the favorite of the Russians." The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, says it aims to hold Clinton and other "political elites" accountable for "distorting the truth in the middle of a critical Presidential election." It also says Gabbard suffered an economic loss to be proven at trial.

As a matter of law, this will go nowhere. As a matter of politics, it’s Pass the Popcorn material. And as a matter of entertainment, the complaint itself is golden. With access to the next debate stage still within reach, Tulsi Gabbard announced that she has filed a defamation suit against Hillary Clinton in a New York federal court for calling her a “Russian asset” last October. At the time, Gabbard’s attorneys warned that she might sue, and the congresswoman from Hawaii finally delivered on that threat this morning.Gabbard’s campaign released this statement shortly after filing the lawsuit: Tulsi...

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) is suing Hillary Clinton for defamation over the former secretary of state's remarks on a podcast characterizing the Democratic presidential candidate as a Russian asset. Gabbard filed the defamation lawsuit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Gabbard’s lawyers allege that Clinton’s comments have “smeared” Gabbard’s “political and personal reputation.” “Tulsi Gabbard is a loyal American civil servant who has also dedicated her life to protecting the safety of all Americans,” Gabbard’s lawyer Brian Dunne said in a statement. “Rep. Gabbard’s presidential campaign continues to gain momentum, but she has...

A Hillary Clinton spokesman slammed South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Friday for comments he made in January about Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. Buttigieg, who is weighing a 2020 bid, said in an interview with The Washington Post Magazine published in January, "Donald Trump got elected because, in his twisted way, he pointed out the huge troubles in our economy and our democracy." He added, "At least he didn't go around saying that America was already great, like Hillary did." Nick Merrill, a Clinton adviser and spokesman, called Buttigieg's months-old comments "indefensible." (snip) Buttigieg's spokesperson had no comment when reached...

A former top Hillary Clinton aide took aim at 2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Friday, after Sanders said he wasn’t really interested in receiving any advice from his 2016 Democratic presidential primary rival, citing “fundamental differences” with her. “I don’t know who our nominee is going to be but I am damn sure that beating Trump & getting America back on the right footing is going to require a unified Democratic Party, so crap like this 613 days before Election Day is irresponsible, counter-productive, & sets us all back,” former Clinton senior adviser Nick Merrill tweeted Friday....

The Justice Department has opened a new investigation of the Clinton Foundation over “pay to play” allegations during Hilary Clinton’s time as secretary of state, it’s been confirmed by multiple outlets. The investigation is being led by the U.S. Attorney’s office and the FBI in Little Rock, Arkansas, which is where the Foundation started. That field office has already interviewed one witness in the last month, with more to come in the near future, according to law enforcement officials, reports The Hill. The officials, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, said the probe is examining whether the Clintons promised...

Strikes me as a big problem that the NYT is having... On Tue, Mar 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM, Philippe Reines wrote: There's a lot to respond to here, but first and foremost the premise is wrong. There is nothing wrong with anyone having personal email addresses or her emailing someone's private account or vice versa. Maybe she was wishing Jake a happy birthday. Following the debate Hillary Clinton held an “impromptu” presser with journalists aboard her campaign plane. However, if you look closely into how it’s coordinated it might just blow you away. Watch as Hillary Clinton’s traveling press secretary, Nick Merrill, actually instructs specific reporters on what questions to ask. It took about three different camera angles to fully identify the ruse, but when you see it, it’s rather jaw dropping: First. Here’s the segment as broadcast on MSNBC. Pay close attention at the very beginning to Andrea Mitchell and Nick Merrill Notice at the very beginning, the construct begins with a...

How committed are the Clinton campaign officials to hiding her medical condition? It would appear much more so than even the most cynical media are considering. Remember, the issue with Hillary Clinton’s health is not so much that she is sick (voter sympathy), but more an issue of how far her campaign is willing to go to hide the fact that she is sick in order to achieve her/their lust for power (voter fraud). In the video of Hillary Clinton’s collapse on September 11th, understandably everyone focuses attention on Hillary herself. However, almost no-one is discussing Hillary Clinton’s traveling press...

California lawmakers seem intent on making Sacramento the place where reasonable reforms, much like runaway trains, jump the tracks. In that no-speed-limit spirit Tuesday, the California Assembly voted 41-37 to allow convicted felons to vote in jail. (Yes, you read that correctly.) If Assembly Bill 2466 becomes law, the American Civil Liberties Union estimates that 50,000 adults will be able to vote behind bars. The state doesn’t trust these people on the streets, but they are welcome in the voting booth. When individuals commit crimes that endanger public safety, they forfeit their civil rights upon conviction. The National Conference of...

Hillary Clinton accepted on Friday an invitation to testify before the House Select Committee on Benghazi in October. Chairman Trey Gowdy asked Clinton to appear before the committee earlier this week, according to campaign spokesman Nick Merrill. Merrill also disputed media reports that Clinton had handled classified information improperly on her private email server, which prompted two inspectors general to refer the matter to the Justice Department for a possible criminal investigation. "Friday began with the printing of a story that was false," Merrill said in a statement. "Entities from the highest levels of two branches of government have now...
