VIDEOSPOILER ALERT: I still have my $10.Remember the bygone era of the "Big Three" anchors in which almost everybody could easily rattle off the names of the major network anchors? Dan Rather of CBS, Tom Brokaw of NBC, and Peter Jennings of ABC? Well, as you can see in this video, those glory years for the network news are long over. To illustrate this, on April 29, 2023 I offered $10 to people I met at the Ft. Lauderdale Swap Shop to name for me all three anchors of those same networks.

At least two Iranian journalists at a state-owned media outlet reportedly resigned from their jobs, with one of them apologizing to viewers for "the 13 years I told you lies." As Tehran continues to grapple with the fallout from protests stemming from a cover-up of its accidental downing of a Ukrainian airliner, TV anchor Gelare Jabbari addressed her viewers on an Instagram post that appears to have been deleted. “It was very hard for me to believe that our people have been killed," the post read, according to The Guardian. "Forgive me that I got to know this late. And...

[PHOTO] America has been brainwashed by a mass-media gone insane. Virtually hypnotized by favorite “news anchors,” Americans no longer believe in facts or truth, but are captives of lies, drama, clever backdrops and sets, TV tricks, and those whom they trust. Americans are in the grasp of network executives who clandestinely inject them with marketing ploys, sales ploys, and a Leftist political agenda designed to increase viewership, a chosen Elite, and money profits. Americans have been manipulated into trusting so-called, news anchors. These performers are little more than self-aggrandizing, multi-millionaire news readers. Like their film-celebrity and entertainer counterparts, they are...
  • The elite television anchor: narrator of reality

by Jon Rappoport February 8, 2015 http://www.nomorefakenews.com “Millions of people have become little news broadcasters and anchors, relaying pictures and text about their parties, picnics, family gatherings, updating their breaking stories, narrating the story lines of their lives. All they need for a complete imitation of the networks is sponsors.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport) It's not only the content of news that is embraced, it's the style, the manner of presentation---and in the long run, the presentation is far more corrosive, far more deadly than the content. The imitations of life called anchors are the arbiters of style. How they...

Two Maine news anchors resigned together at the end of Tuesday’s broadcast after “a longstanding battle with upper management over journalistic practices” including being expected to do politically unbalanced news, the Bangor Daily News reported. Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio announced at the end of WVII-TV’s 6 p.m. newscast that it would be their final broadcast together. “And finally tonight, this will be Tony and my final show together here on ABC 7,” Michaels said. “The last six years have been an interesting and enjoyable time for both of us as we have been the longest running news team in...

Hustler publisher Larry Flynt took a fresh jab on Tuesday at scandal-plagued Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), administering a lie detector test to a New Orleans prostitute who contends that she and Vitter had a relationship in 1999. Vitter has denied extramarital relations with Wendy Cortez, who appeared with Flynt in Los Angeles to address reporters. Flynt said the lie detector offers 99.9 percent proof that Cortez, whose ties to Vitter have long set tongues wagging in Louisiana, is telling the truth. “I don’t want him to apologize to me. I want him to apologize to everybody that he’s lied to,”...

Dan Rather deserves more than a kick in the pants on his way out the door to a fly-fishing stream in West Texas. With Tom Brokaw's retirement just ahead of Rather's, this is the official end of an era, not just in television but in the cultural life of the nation.

Please post pics of the journalist who makes the news just that much nicer for you. They can be past/present, local/national/international, real or fictional. Of course they would like to be taken seriously as journalists first. Many of them are also fully aware that some members of their audience are getting a little 'extra' from the news presentation, so they will be generous enough to be very careful about looking their best, giving a little smile, flashing a little leg, etc. Let us then offer our tribute: Revealing my age a little bit, I recall looking forward to seeing Brenda...

Folks, you know me better than your outrage over my statement - Hillary puts the testicles of Sunday show anchors in a lock box - indicates. People won't let this go, even though they know we don't do cheap potty humor here. If I use a metaphor, it must be the best way to illustrate the situation. That was a great show yesterday - despite the e-mail I read below, and the caller who challenged me tried to claim. They just didn't get it. If they had said no one was talking about the show, that's one thing. But they...

  • WHO SAYS LAMESTREAM NEWS ANCHORS ARE BIG-HAIRED CLICHES? (I do!)

    ABC World News Tonight
Admittedly, I haven't watched ABC's "looser, hipper" World News NOW in ages. I'm not loose or hip enough to want my news in that goofy, biased format. But I've heard so much from the press in the meantime about how they've been unfairly maligned as big-haired fluff. So tonight I happen to flip around the channels and catch this: Nice to see some cliches never change.
