Years from now, perhaps only days from now, when people are no longer quite so inebriated with partisanship, those who wish Brett Kavanaugh well and those who wish him ill will probably agree on one thing: His defiant September 27 statement denying the charges leveled against him in the course of his Supreme Court confirmation is the defining speech of our time. Kavanaugh rejected outright Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that he had jumped her and gagged her at a party 36 years ago, when both were in high school. He denied knowingly having met her. None of the witnesses she...

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker said on Sunday the possibility of impeaching Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh shouldn’t be off the table if Democrats take one of the houses of Congress in next month’s midterm elections. Kavanaugh was confirmed on Saturday by a narrow vote following a contentious process that included multiple sexual assault allegations. Other Democrats have raised the possibility of impeaching Kavanaugh over allegations that he committed perjury in his hearing at the Senate Judiciary Committee, on which Booker sits.

**SNIP** In passionate remarks that often had the room of Iowa Democrats on their feet, Booker answered the request, speaking of unity and encouraging voters to fight back. “It is not a time to give up, it’s a time to get up, to rise up, to speak up,” he said. “It’s time for you not to wait for hope, but to be the hope.” Booker, who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, showed the intensity at the Iowa fundraising gala Saturday that he showed during the hearings, when he had a self-described “Spartacus moment,” announcing he would release confidential documents...

"Just say 'Islamic terrorism.' Just say those words and you'll win the election. Avoid those words and you're going to lose the election." Please! Pretty please! Just say them. ...Despite the pleas of Bill Maher on HBO's Real Time last night, Senator Corey Booker of New Jersey declined to utter the words that seem so taboo for the Democrats. Bill Maher knows, as you can see in the video below, that the refusal by the Democrats to call out terrorism for what it really is could cost them the general election this year. Despite this outspoken concern by Maher, Booker...

8:20 p.m. During his rally, President Donald Trump also poked fun at Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, considered a possible challenger to Trump in 2020. Booker is a former mayor of Newark, the state's largest city. Trump told the crowd that Booker "ran Newark, New Jersey into the ground" and asked: "now he wants to be president?" "What was the moment he said he had?" When the crowd yelled back, "Spartacus," Trump said: "I don't think so. I think we take Kirk Douglas in his prime." Douglas starred as Spartacus in a movie about the leader of a...

As hinted at days earlier here at D.C. Whispers, the Senate Judiciary Committee is now preparing to launch a full investigation into the machinations of Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team and the office of Senator Diane Feinstein based upon “…recently uncovered information.” It appears that FBI supplemental investigation into Judge (Justice) Brett Kavanaugh that Senator Feinstein demanded has backfired on her – BIG TIME.

THE FBI PROBE HAS POINTED TO ANOTHER KEY PLAYER AND A LOT OF HIGH LEVEL COORDINATION IN THE ASSAULT ON JUDGE KAVANAUGH The many problems with credible Christine’s testimony and the well-connected beach friend. Sen. Grassley has fired off another blistering letter to credible Christine Ford’s lawyers demanding evidence and communications. At the same time, ‘witness’ Leland Keyser says she was pressured to alter her statement, allegedly by the suspicious former FBI agent Monica McLean, the one Christine Ford allegedly helped prepare for a polygraph. Did Chucky leak? It is now looking like the leaker could have been someone tied...

When you turn a Supreme Court confirmation into a national political campaign don’t be surprised when a circus breaks out. Circus MaximusA few random thoughts from yesterday’s performance:Poor, poor Christine Blasey, I believe that something happened to her sometime, somewhere; perhaps that explains why she seems such a seriously disturbed woman for her age. But those bleary glasses can’t possibly help her see the truth any better. I don’t think she should be teaching college at all let alone psychology. Sheesh. Fog of whores? And everyone seemed surprised that a righteous man unjustly accused of despicable acts could get righteously angry....

I love Lindsay Graham. The witty South Carolina senator, who's usually more entertaining than most comedians, has been one of the highlights of the otherwise depressing televised Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Graham put it perfectly Thursday morning. He said some people had been coming up to him and asking if this week's ugly display of disruptions, rude moronic outbursts from the gallery and Democrat grandstanding had become a circus. "I'm here to defend circuses," Graham said, pointing out that it was safe for parents to take their kids to the circus but not to...

In 1992, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) admitted he once sexually assaulted a woman in a column he wrote for the Stanford Daily titled “So much for stealing second.” On February 19th, 1992, Booker, at the time masters student Stanford University who wrote a weekly Stanford Daily opinion column, penned the piece, in which he recounted his own experience with sexual assault. Booker began by noting that “Telling one’s own personal story is often the most powerful way to make a point, or, more importantly, to make people think,” before adding “When I hesitated in writing this column, I realized I...

(along with Corey Booker...which might come back to bite him in 2020 if he runs) STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham's office today released this statement on the trial of Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey. "Today, Senator Graham is testifying in federal district court in Newark, New Jersey at the trial of Senator Bob Menendez. Graham is testifying as a character witness for the defense and traveled to the trial at his own personal expense. He will testify about his service with Senator Menendez in the Senate. Graham's testimony is unrelated...

Cory Booker’s shameless gambit of launching his presidential bid by attacking Jeff Sessions has really gotten under this Insurrectionist’s skin. From my Quick Hit of this morning: “I reckon he earned the scorn of many of his fellow Dems for his transparent ploy.” And so it was gratifying to get confirmation this morning from Joe Scarborough, who on Morning Joe said this of Booker’s stunt: “obviously calculated . . . in a way that would have the other senators, especially Democratic senators, wanting to drag him away . . . a lot of senators irked, especially on the Democratic side....

On Monday, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker announced that he will break longstanding Senate tradition on Wednesday by testifying against his colleague, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, during Session's confirmation hearing for U.S. attorney general."Concretely, I'm breaking a pretty long Senate tradition by actually being a sitting senator testifying against another sitting senator," Booker told MSNBC's Chris Hayes on Monday. "Please, understand. I think these are extraordinary times and they call for extraordinary measures."Booker emphasized, "I'll be testifying against my current colleague."Booker's move is believed to be the first time that a sitting senator has testified against a colleague during...

Were you surprised when Hillary Clinton chose Tim Kaine as her Vice Presidential running mate? Did you ever think maybe it could be Elizabeth Warren or Corey Booker? According to Wikileaks documents from John Podesta Emails, Hillary Clinton had already told Tim Kaine he'd be here VP a year before it was announced. Any ideas Elizabeth Warren would be a progressive choice is laughable. Any idea up and coming, great advocate for prison reform Corey Booker had a shot are foolish. Hillary Clinton knew who she wanted and it had nothing to do with progressive voters, black voters or latino...

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin slammed Democratic New Jersey Senate candidate Cory Booker while endorsing his Republican rival Steve Lonegan Wednesday night. “During one mayor’s tenure his town’s unemployment nearly doubled, taxes skyrocketed, and violent crime increased; but in fairness, Newark Mayor Cory Booker may not have noticed these facts between his constant tweeting and trips to Hollywood,” Palin said in a statement. “Steve asked for my support, and today I officially endorse his candidacy. I encourage voters in New Jersey to give Steve a look and not believe those in the media who tell us conservatives can’t win in...

Nothing clarifies the mind of politicians like a fear of defeat at the ballot box. And nothing stokes such a fear more than watching an upset happen in a supposedly blue state. So with all the bitter arguments inside the conservative movement and Republican Party over health care and budget strategy, I offer a simple plea for unity of purpose around a common cause: elect Steve Lonegan to the United States Senate in New Jersey on Wednesday, October 16. Send a conservative who has promised to repeal Obamacare, cut spending, cut taxes, and limit regulation to the Senate from New...

Dear Patriots. Though apprehensive upon hearing Obama tell Joe the Plumber that he wanted to spread the wealth around, I understand America’s extremely emotional response to electing its first black president. White America naively thought, finally, we can never be called a racist nation again. My 100 year old black grandmother wept. Never in her wildest dreams could she imagine a colored man sitting in the president’s chair in the Oval Office. But little did America realize that the beautiful articulate shiny golden black man that they opened the gates of our country and housed in the White House was...

Singapore Airlines Ltd. took delivery of the Airbus SE A350-900 ultra long range aircraft to start a non-stop service to New York, a journey of about 19 hours that will become the world’s longest. The first commercial flight between Singapore and Newark Liberty International Airport will be on Oct. 11, Singapore Air said in a statement yesterday. This is the first of the seven A350-900ULRs the carrier has on firm order with Airbus. Reviving the route that the Singapore flag carrier scrapped more than four years ago will help the airline fill a gap in its U.S. network that has...

Akbar Cook, principal of West Side High School in Newark, sat across from Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Friday, and couldn’t believe he was there. “I’m just so happy, I’m so nervous that I’m on the Ellen Show," he said, smiling, his hands fidgeting. “This is amazing. Wow." It’s understandable, Cook. She’s big, but you have done something special to earn the right to be there, too. I wrote a column about Cook last month because he had washing machines installed at his school this summer to deter bullying and embarrassment for his students, who didn’t want anyone to...
