A bill to raise hotel taxes to fund an NFL stadium for the Oakland Raiders and a convention center expansion has crossed its first hurdle in the Nevada Legislature. The Nevada Senate voted 16-5 on Tuesday to approve the measure. Democratic opponents have said they oppose putting public funds to a project backed by billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, while Republican opponents oppose raising taxes.

There's little doubt that former Nevada Assemblywoman Sharron Angle has stumbled -- badly and repeatedly -- since winning the GOP nomination on June 8. And, there's also no debate that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D) campaign against Angle has been flawless in its execution -- using Angle's many past misstatements to paint her as an extremist who is out of touch with average Nevadans. But -- and in politics there is almost always a "but" -- a recent independent poll in the race showed Reid at 45 percent to Angle's 44 percent -- a statistical dead heat that suggests...

U.S Senatorial candidate Sharron Angle (R-NV) continues to surge in recent polling while her opponents spiral downward. Angle, seeking the bid to remove Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) from office, came out on top once again in a newly released independent poll that shows Angle beating her GOP opponents and defeating Reid in November.

Senator Harry Reid claims to be an ethical politician and he often employs his Mormon religion in order to demonstrate his alleged immaculacy. However, the reality is that he is, in fact, one of the most ethically challenged politicians in office today. This report will review his alliances with corrupt individuals, his support of ACORN, his ties with organized crime figures and his chronic failure to comply with campaign finance laws. Harry Reid’s Alliance with Jack Abramoff Soon after the Jack Abramoff scandal broke, Reid took the lead in attacking Republicans for fostering a “culture of corruption.” (1) But shortly...

LAS VEGAS - The son of former President Jimmy Carter has launched a Web site soliciting donations for a possible run for U.S. Senate. Jack Carter, 58, called the site part of his "listening tour" designed to gauge support for a potential bid to challenge Sen. John Ensign (news, bio, voting record), R-Nev. "One of the things you listen for is how are people going to contribute," he said Tuesday. It would be the Las Vegas investment consultant's first personal foray in politics. He previously campaigned for his father. Carter said he will not officially announce his decision until after...
