Down to 8 pretty good teams. Unfortunately in each game one pretty good team lies down or doesn't show up. Baltimore should be in the Super Bowl and they didn't seem to even try. Minnesota was never in it. Injuries are too big a factor Seattle will have no offensive line going against 2 excellent players on the GB defensive line. Russell Wilson could still pull it out but after16/17 games I think too many teams just give up from exhaustion. It seems to happen year after year.
  • Oh, rats. There’s one aspect of Baltimore she can’t get used to [2013]

The reported rat rate increased from fewer than 10 rats per 1,000 residents in 2002 to 60 per 1,000 in 2009, according to Baltimore CitiStat. A Baltimore City Health Department report that year noted that “the rodent infestation rate in Baltimore is six times the national average.” More recently, 19,869 residents called the city’s 311 number to complain about rats between Jan. 1, 2010, and April 4, 2013, with a slight bump from 7,579 in 2011 to 8,436 in 2012. (This compares to the District’s 311 calls regarding rodents, which rose from 2,820 in 2011 to 3,010 in 2012.) Personally,...

Most former police officers don’t enjoy a retirement that involves any kind of celebrity, much less one that has yielded a signature wine inspired by their catch phrase, a book deal, and an annual namesake cruise to the Caribbean. But such is now life for 71-year-old Lieutenant Joe Kenda, whose Investigation Discovery series Homicide Hunter has made him a bona fide true crime star. Kenda’s perch atop the roster of programming on the decade-old true crime powerhouse ID is secure (if not completely natural) in a lineup that includes Wives with Knives, Deadly Women and Stepford Lives of Stepford Wives....

Here’s the breakdown of his personal pronoun use (based on a rush transcript of the event): “I” — 312 “Me” — 33 “My” — 43 “I’d” — 9 “I’m” — 61 “Myself” — 9 The former president’s comments began on his favorite topic: himself. “It’s been over ten years since I spoke to a slightly larger crowd in front of the Victory Column when I was running for president,” Obama said to a notably quiet crowd. “I had a little less gray hair then. And since then I’ve been back to Germany I think at least ten times. I’ve been...

I hate these Spammers, Scammers, Liars and Cheats who constantly call me. I use an App called "Hiya" and works very well blocking many of these jerks. But, I received a call last week from the NRA to renew my membership. Legitimate call? Sure but, they spoofed their number and it was close enough to customers number so, I took the call. The NPA was 415 and this guy was calling from Virginia. Tried to politely get him off the phone and eventually did. However, I am still hacked about the spoofing even if I am an NRA member. So,...

Shortened title. Full title: A Power Company Is Suing New York After The State Shut Down A Nearly $1 Billion Plant Without Warning Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) is suing New York after the state refused to renew an air permit for one of the company’s natural gas power plants, shutting down the plant four days before it was scheduled to open. CPV filed the suit against the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) challenging the state’s decision to not renew the $900 million plant’s air permit in an Aug. 1 letter, according to the American Petroleum Institute (API)....

So, here is the dumb question my brother posed: If a ship leaves earth and transmits "LIVE" video as it travels deep into space, would the transmissions continue to be live and real time even as it traveled months and years away from earth? At what point does that transmission actually delay or become part of the past? Bonus question: Assuming the craft continues travel directly away from earth, if it stopped transmitting and then restarted transmitting would that now be real time? Caveat: I don't know the distance that makes the transmission now a part of the past...

As Donald Trump called many illegal Mexican immigrants "rapists and criminals" and questioned Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) war hero status and suggested temporarily banning Muslim immigrants -- all while climbing to or remaining at the top of the Republican presidential polls -- we in the political media scratched our heads and wondered how this could happen. (SNIP) Meet Maine Gov. Paul LePage, the Donald Trump before there was Donald Trump. If you haven't heard of him -- or hadn't heard of him until he recently said drug dealer with names like "D-Money" were coming to Maine and impregnating "young, white...

Most of you are aware of Pope Francis' concern over the size of Catholic families. The pontiff suggested the use of Natural Family Planning while quipping that married couples do not have to "breed like rabbits." As I said on Facebook: "It's true that married people do not have to "breed like rabbits." But then, priests don't have to float around the altar like Liberace around his Steinway or resemble Judy Garland." Where is the Holy Father's concern over homosexual priests? At the onset of his pontificate, when asked about the Vatican's alleged "gay lobby" [read Lavender Mafia] the Pope...

Politics: The hippie horde attempting to mob and "occupy" Wall Street this week has a method to its madness. It's all about getting President Obama re-elected by employing classic Alinskyite tactics. At first glance, the latest protests staged by left-wing rent-a-mobs in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and elsewhere don't look terribly different from the World Trade Organization and global debt-amnesty spectaculars of a decade ago. Radicals swarm against some hated totem, chant, break a few Starbucks windows and leave scads of garbage for someone else to clean up. But the "Occupy Wall Street" mob that shut down the Brooklyn...

CARNEY: "He wants to speak before Congress because he recognizes that while there are things he can do without Congress, and he will do them, there are actions that need to be taken with Congress that require legislation to grow the economy and create jobs. And he wants to go to Congress, speak directly to members of Congress, and layout his proposals."

Via the Corner, I can’t shake the strange feeling that (a) we might hear him use this coinage again on the trail a time or two, starting tomorrow night in New Hampshire, and (b) the expected gang-up on Romney at the CNN debate is going to be way fiercer — and more entertaining — than anyone expected. Just one question: Will it work? According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Sunday morning, three-quarters of Republicans and GOP leaning independent voters say they want a party nominee who can defeat President Barack Obama in 2012, even if that person doesn’t...
