So, The Won endorsed The Ton. Ho-Hum. Oh and  BTW, yes, The Ton is apparently under “criminal investigation” despite previous denials to the contrary. It’s no big deal, lots of Presidential Nominees have been under criminal investigation while running for…oh wait, no; they haven’t. Still no big deal, Barry is going to stand by her.In other news - if you are suffering from Muhammad Ali fatigue, it will all be over soon: The Greatest is being laid to rest today. Here, I think, is the best way to remember him - as Cassius Clay. In case you forgot or never...

Arab and Muslim sites are commemorating the death of perhaps the most prominent Muslim convert, boxing great Mohammed Ali. And the thing they like about him most seems to be his antisemitism and anti-Zionism. Both Islam21C and Middle East Monitor lovingly quote Ali from a 1980 interview: "You know the entire power structure is Zionist. They control America; they control the world. They are really against the Islam religion. That's pretty much pure antisemitism there, under the guise of "anti-Zionism." The sites also quote when Ali visited a Lebanese UNRWA camp in 1974, where he said he wanted the state...

“It’s just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound sand. I beat people up.” – Muhammad AliThe braggadocios young Muhammad Ali, nee Cassius Clay, mellowed with age and illness butt he will nevertheless always be known for his swagger.I, however, am partial to the equally great boxer butt less bodacious Joe Louis - Joe Louis and Alithe first black Heavyweight World Champion. He was always described as a gentleman. (full disclosure: my uncle was the “Brown Bomber’s” commanding officer in WWII and his promoter for awhile afterwards) The Brown Bomber with Uncle Lou, 1946Boxing is a lot like politics,...

Because of the evils of slavery, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and other African-American leaders have come out in favor of reparations payments. I agree with them. Yes, I agree that African-Americans should pay reparations to the rest of us. The only questions are: how much should be paid and how to apportion the money to descendents of the men and women who freed the slaves. In my case it is going to be a little difficult, because only my grandfather on my father’s side is descended from citizens who were here during the Civil War.
  • "Feller Angered by Ali's All-Star Presence"

HOUSTON -- The sellout crowd at Minute Maid Park gave Muhammad Ali a hero's welcome Tuesday, but Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller would rather the former boxing great not have been invited. Ali received a roaring ovation from the crowd for being an honored guest for the ceremonial first pitch at the All-Star Game, but Feller came away angered by Ali's presence. Born Cassius Clay in 1942, Ali changed his name after converting to the Muslim faith. Commissioner Bud Selig dismissed the criticism of Ali, who returned to the city where he fought four times and relinquished his heavyweight...
