In the early reporting of the Capital Gazette mass murder, Conor Berry, a reporter for a Massachusetts newspaper, The Republican, tweeted that the shooter had dropped his MAGA hat on the newsroom floor before opening fire. It was a stupid remark, not to mention one for which Berry had no supporting facts, which he has since acknowledged. What makes such tweets particularly toxic is that they color early perceptions of these events, and tend to become urban legends and the stuff of conspiracy theories. An “off-the-record” private discussion group for left-wing journalists, similar to the controversial “JournoList” cabal, has been discovered. The group, which is hosted on Google Groups, was discovered after messages from New York Magazine journalist Jesse Singal were leaked. “The listserv, per its ‘About’ page, aims to provide an ‘off-the-record discussion forum for left-of-center journalists, authors, academics, and wonks.’ It has been around for at least eight years (I found discussion posts dating back as far as 2010), and has just over 400 members (403 at the time of this writing),” reported Jezebel. “These members include New York Times best-selling authors,...

CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta has appeared in at least one advertisement for his brother’s Democratic congressional campaign, raising questions about his objectivity in reporting on the president’s health. Gupta’s brother, Suneel Gupta, is running for Congress as a Democrat in Michigan’s 11th district. In May of 2018, Suneel posted an advertisement on his YouTube channel called “Rise,” referring to the medical company he started with the help of Sanjay.

Members of the crowd awaiting President Trump's rally in South Carolina on Monday began chanting “Go home, Jim!” at CNN's Jim Acosta.
