Washington (CNN) - A person carrying a suspicious package scaled a White House fence Sunday night, but was quickly apprehended. The person climbed the fence on the south side of the White House complex about 10:25 p.m., said Brian Leary with the United States Secret Service. The individual is in custody and charges are pending, Leary said. The person's name or gender wasn't released. The package was being examined and later deemed to be harmless, a Secret Service source told CNN. Last week, a U.S. official told CNN that temporary steel spikes may be added to the tips of the...

(VIDEO-AND-AUDIO-AT-LINK)MILFORD, N.H. — Sen. Rand Paul claimed he’d be the Republican with the best chance of picking up black voters in the 2016 presidential campaign — and suggested a major scandal will soon threaten Democrat Hillary Clinton’s likely candidacy — during a stop here one day after announcing he’s running for the White House. “I’ve tried to expand the Republican Party by taking the message to places Republicans haven’t gone,” Paul said yesterday when asked by the Herald whether he is the Tea Party candidate in the race. “I’ve spent the last several years going to historically black colleges, going...

During a recent TV debate on the destruction of antiquities by ISIS, Syrian political analyst Yahya Badr said that the Egyptian people was entitled to claim legal rights in Australia, since inscriptions in ancient hieroglyphics had been found near Sydney, indicating that the grandson of a pharoah had landed there. On the show, which aired on the Turkish TRT TV channel on March 6, 2015, Badr was introduced as owning the patent to mummy technology. Following are excerpts: TV host: Let's discuss the destruction of antiquities. Yahya Badr: This is a crime, because antiquities constitute documentation, which preserves the [legal]...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama said Thursday that the U.S. has undergone a “culture change” in the five years since she started raising awareness about childhood obesity, but as she celebrated achievements on multiple fronts the first lady also warned that the progress is “incredibly fragile.” That’s because special interests “whose first priority is not our kids’ health” are “waiting for us to get complacent or bored and move on to the next trendy issue,” Mrs. Obama said at an annual health summit. She cited the fight over a recent child nutrition law as an example.

To the Editor: Yet another climate denier letter displaying a scientific illiteracy that is a sad indictment of our educational system: "Humans didn't cause global warming" in the Feb 11 edition of The Sanford Herald. All you have to do is Google "Scientific American global warming" to find out that global warming is an undisputed scientific fact. Climate scientists know all about previous periods of climate change, that's basic high school science class stuff. They were all caused by something. Scientists call that something a "forcing." They have established that this time the forcing is not any of the previous...

State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf told Chris Matthews tonight that we cannot win this war with ISIS by killing them. She said we have to get to the root cause of why people are attracted to Jihad — you know like poverty, jobs, etc… “We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to...

When even the Washington Post realizes that we have a fool as president -- a man who has disgraced the office of the presidency -- we have crossed the Rubicon. Barack Obama sat down (well, not really as you will see) for an interview with Buzzfeed. This is one of the websites that Barack Obama has used to circumvent mainstream media, let alone conservative media, where he might actually be asked a challenging question every once in a while. Apparently, he could not resist letting his full narcissism be on display.

President Obama has brought nothing to the presidency except his Marxist theology I won’t be around to see it, but I have little doubt that future historians and others will conclude that President Barack Hussein Obama was the worst President ever to serve in that office. The reason is simple enough. His decisions on domestic and foreign affairs have already demonstrated his astonishing incompetence. His major contribution may in fact be to ensure that the voters elect conservatives in the next two or more elections to come. If he is remembered for anything it well may be the emergence of...

I don't know how the media could get away with constantly describing Obama as a little genius. Maybe they think that because he'a Marxist and a black, and for those reasons the misrepresentation has been accepted more uncritically than it should have been. He's not even very intelligent. In the video that you can see by clicking on the "Enza Ferreri Blog" link above, Obama shows that he doesn't know the basics of American history, and - what is particularly serious - of American presidential history. Interviewed on NBC by Savannah Guthrie, Barack Hussein says: “We make beer. First president...

Congressional Republicans are challenging several health regulations, with one senator suggesting restaurants shouldn't have to make their employees wash their hands after bathroom visits. Such restaurants would have to prominently disclose their decision, and then would probably would go out of business, said newly elected GOP Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina. But they should have that choice, he said. Tillis raised the issue when speaking Monday to the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington. Restaurant chains such as Starbucks should be able to skip obligatory hand-washing by workers, he said, "as long as they post a sign" and take other...

Some of the most influential players in big-money conservative politics gathered late last month to discuss government’s role in society, but their focus kept shifting to a less weighty topic: Rand Paul’s outfit. The Kentucky senator and prospective GOP presidential candidate — whose libertarian politics mesh with those of the billionaire megadonor brothers Charles and David Koch — appeared at the annual winter meeting of the Koch donor network wearing a boxy blue blazer, faded jeans and cowboy boots.

Rand Paul: Most vaccines should be ‘voluntary’ By ADAM B. LERNER 2/2/15 2:42 PM EST Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) waded into the debate over vaccinations Monday, telling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham that he thinks most vaccines should be “voluntary.” Paul, an ophthamologist and likely 2016 White House hopeful, expressed particular concern over mandatory vaccinations for sexually transmitted diseases. He criticized former Texas Gov. Rick Perry for his executive order mandating that Texas children receive the HPV vaccine. “I’m not anti-vaccine at all,” Paul said, but “I think that’s a personal decision.” Read more: http://www.politico.com/story/2015/02/rand-paul-vaccines-114834.html#ixzz3QhA3J7zr

During her hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) asked, “Do you support the legalization of marijuana?”“Senator, I do not,” Lynch replied. In addition to lovingly supporting the White House Commie opening up the border so we can be further invaded by the world's poor and unknown, she is also on the wrong side of public desire to decriminalize marijuana...

Thursday on MSNBC, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) was asked about “the necessity of the NSA and some of the surveillance” and she said the Paris terror attacks should not be an excuse for “torture that we oppose.” Host Tamron Hall asked if the attacks were “proof of the necessity of the NSA and some of the surveillance that many might disagree with?” Jackson Lee replied, “I am well aware that we are in a new time, and we cannot fight wars as we did in the Revolutionary War.

In remarks that underscored an emerging concern about the direction of the economy, President Obama told business leaders Wednesday that, despite record corporate profits, stagnant wage growth is creating anxiety among workers. Obama [said] that the shrinking of wages and income as a share of overall GDP had caused an “undertow” of pessimism, despite the improving economy, and said giving workers a raise would benefit corporations, too. “When wages are good, and consumers feel like they’ve got money in their pockets, that ends up being good for business not bad for business,” he said. Obama appeared relaxed and at ease,...
