A 12-gauge shotgun loaded with bird shot accidentally discharged Saturday when the owner opened its case at a gun show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, injuring a retired sheriff's deputy and two other people, police said. The gun owner, a 36-year-old man from Wilmington, North Carolina, was carrying the weapon through security at the show entrance and was unfastening the case on a table, authorities said. The owner planned to sell the shotgun at the show. The deputy suffered a slight injury to his hand and was treated and released at a local hospital, said Joel Keith,...

During the National Rifle Association’s meeting with Vice President Joe Biden and the White House gun violence task force, the vice president said that the administration did not have the time to prosecute existing gun laws. Jim Baker, the NRA representative present at the meeting, recalled the vice president’s words to The Daily Caller: “And to your point, Mr. Baker, regarding the lack of prosecutions on lying on Form 4473s, we simply don’t have the time or manpower to prosecute everybody who lies on a form, that checks a wrong box, that answers a question inaccurately.” Submitting false information on...

If you’re a Democrat operative forced to resign for facilitating vote fraud, what do you do for a follow-up? If you said brutally attack your girlfriend, cracking her skull, your name just might be Patrick Moran. And if you’ve skated on both counts, your father just might be Jim Moran, Democrat congressman from Virginia. Patrick Moran was the field director for his father’s campaign before the election — that is, until a sting operation caught him on video coaching an undercover reporter on how to commit vote fraud. He sounded as if he’d already achieved semi-pro status, too. But since...

White House petition calls for Joe Biden reality show By Justin Sink - 01/04/13 01:01 PM ET A new petition on the White House's website is calling for a reality show starring Joe Biden, a day after the vice president's jokes at a Senate swearing-in ceremony became a viral Internet sensation. The petition says the program would feature "the daily activities and interactions of the Vice President with elected officials, foreign dignitaries and everyday American families" along with "a glimpse of the lighthearted side of politics." "Vice President Joe Biden has a demonstrated ability to bring people together, whether at...

Shrewsbury resident Carl Lund. Northborough, MA – When Carl Lund saw a table set up on Main Street in Northborough on Friday, Dec. 7, he was “disgusted” he said, to see a poster of President Barack Obama, depicted as Adolf Hitler, prominently displayed. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” Lund, a resident of Shrewsbury and a Vietnam veteran, said. Lund then got into a verbal confrontation with the two men manning the table, who Northborough police identified as Ian Brinkley and Jared Caskill. “[Brinkley and Caskill] claimed it was a peaceful, political display with literature,” Lund said. “I...

This morning, I will begin living on a food budget of $30 a week / $4.32 per day. This is the financial equivalent of the budget provided to people participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, in the State of New Jersey. I will live only on a SNAP equivalent food budget for the next seven days. Undertaking what is referred to as the #SNAPChallenge began with a social media-based conversation on Twitter. A Twitter user tweeted me her opinion that "nutrition is not the responsibility of the government". This comment caused me to...

Police in Arlington County, Va., have launched a criminal probe to investigate the voter fraud controversy swirling around the son of Democratic Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.). Patrick Moran, 23, resigned Wednesday as field director for his father's reelection campaign after conservative activists released video footage in which the younger Moran appears to discuss options for skirting voter ID laws with undercover operatives posing as campaign volunteers. Less than 24 hours after the video's release, Arlington County investigators announced that they're looking into the matter. "The Arlington County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and the Arlington County Police Department have been made aware...

Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods, called into “The Glenn Beck Program” on TheBlazeTV Thursday and recounted his interactions with the president, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Biden at the ceremony for the Libya victims at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. He told host Glenn Beck that what they told him, coupled with new reports that indicate the Obama administration knew very good and well, almost immediately, that a terrorist attack was occurring in Benghazi, make him certain that the American people are not getting the whole truth. Vice President Biden, as he has become known to do,...

Local police in Arlington, Va., have opened a criminal investigation after a secretly recorded video showed the son of a Democratic congressman apparently advising someone who claimed to be looking for ways to commit voter fraud. In a brief statement, the Arlington County police department and attorney's office said they were "aware" of the video "allegedly depicting" Patrick Moran, son of Virginia Rep. Jim Moran, "assisting another to vote illegally." "The Arlington County Police Department has initiated a criminal investigation of this matter," the statement said. Patrick Moran has resigned from his father's campaign in the wake of the video....

The son of a prominent Virginia congressman agreed to help an undercover reporter forge documents in what he thought was an illegal voting effort aimed at re-electing the president, a just-published video reveals. After raising legal and practical concerns, Patrick Moran, son of Virginia Democrat James Moran, encouraged the reporter to create phony utility bills that would allow others to cast multiple votes in the November 6 election. Supporters of stronger voter ID laws seized on the video as evidence of widespread corruption among liberal get-out-the-vote organizations. “What he’s doing is soliciting fraudulent voter registrations and fraudulent ballots, and that’s...

One of the most important issues in this year's election is energy. Our ongoing addiction to Mideast oil leaves us dependent on countries that are often unstable and hostile. Developing our own domestic energy resources and investing in renewable energy lessens this dependence. It also has the potential to create jobs and improve our trade deficit. The two presidential candidates have laid out energy plans that sound similar: both President Obama and Governor Romney want to continue to develop domestic energy resources, including renewable energy, with the aim of making the U.S. less dependent on foreign oil. But according to...

When President Barack Obama stepped off the stage in Denver last week the 60 million Americans watching the debate against Mitt Romney already knew it had been a disaster for him. But what nobody knew, until now, was that Obama believed he had actually won. In an extraordinary insight into the events leading up to the 90 minute showdown which changed the face of the election, a Democrat close to the Obama campaign today reveals that the President also did not take his debate preparation seriously, ignored the advice of senior aides and ignored one-liners that had been prepared to...

Madonna said she was being deliberately "ironic on stage" when she erroneously referred to President Barack Obama during a concert in US capital as a "black Muslim". A video clip posted on YouTube by audience members at the Verizon Centre in downtown Washington captured the 54-year-old singer delivering a rousing, profanity-laced political speech about freedom during her show on Monday.

President Barack Obama, on the stump in the swing state of Ohio on Monday, said that in working with Republicans to reduce the deficit, he was willing to show “more love” and even “wash their car” to get the job done. While speaking in Cincinnati on Monday, Obama said, “The only thing they [Republicans] can do is keep trying to bluff their way through until November, and hope that you won’t call them on it. But understand Cincinnati, look, I want to work with them to reduce the deficit. I’ve said if the Republicans need more love, if they want...
