A video has surfaced from the presidential campaign trail in May 2008 that shows Michelle Obama talking about the sacrifices that Americans would have to make in order to achieve her husband's health care goals. The future First Lady was speaking at a meeting of military families to highlight the cost of war for those back at home. First lady Michelle Obama is poised for a second appearance on “The Biggest Loser,”NBC’s reality show to help contestants lose weight. Her reason for doing the show? To promote her campaign for the need to drink more water, The Hill reported.

The First Lady wants you to drink more water. On a call announcing Michelle Obama‘s newest healthy living initiative Wednesday, Let’s Move Executive Director Sam Kass explained that the White House is working with cities, private companies and public taps to promote the message to “drink up.” Participating companies include Brita, Poland Spring, Evian, Dasani, Voss and others, which will carry a “Drink Up” logo on their bottles, and participating cities include Chicago, Los Angeles county, Houston and, appropriately, Watertown, Wis., where the First Lady is visiting Thursday to kick off the initiative.

Michelle Obama, who has for years been suggesting "Let's Move," Wednesday added a new directive in her campaign against obesity: "Drink up." The president's wife called on Americans to drink at least one extra glass of water daily. "That's it - it's really that simple. Drink just one more glass of water a day and you can make a real difference for your health, your energy, and the way you feel. So Drink Up and see for yourself," she said.

Many schools in the nation are considering a change from the National School Lunch Program, which could happen in schools across York County if the regulations for the program continue to become more strict. But with a decrease in student participation and a growing list of federal nutrition mandates, the district might consider cutting the program next fall at the high school level. Michelle Obama is adding another fun element to her healthy kids campaign that seeks to tackle the issue of childhood obesity. Like her husband, the first lady has turned to hip-hop to demonstrate a point. She is distributing a hip-hop album complete with 10 music videos and 19 tracks to support her “Let’s Move!” nutrition program. Under the “Healthy, Hunger-free Kids” act of 2010, school districts with high levels of students who qualify for free or reduced lunchroom prices can opt to offer free lunches to all students this year.
