On Sean Hannity’s Fox News program earlier this week, Dr. Ben Carson, the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, offered his view on the hot-button issue of the week, same-sex marriage. According to Carson, marriage is defined as between one man and one woman, what he called a “well-established, fundamental pillar of society.” And Carson said this institution could not be redefined by any group, including proponents of bestiality and pedophilia. Invoking those groups drew the ire of many, but Carson went on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” to clarify his remarks, which he apologized to those who took...

Brace yourselfs, for NBC's Andrea Mitchell - on MSNBC no less - actually criticized Barack Obama Wednesday. During a News Nation segment about the President's trip to Israel, Mitchell said his relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "one of the worst" she can remember going all the way back to her years covering Ronald Reagan (video follows with transcript and commentary):

One piece of information that got lost the last few days of sex scandals is the news that David Petraeus personally traveled to Libya after the Benghazi attack — and apparently filed a “trip report” covering his own findings. Senator Dianne Feinstein, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee probing the Benghazi terrorist attack, wants either the report or Petraeus to testify to its contents. So far, though, the CIA and the White House have refused to provide it — and yesterday, Feinstein threatened that subpoenas may be forthcoming if the stonewalling continues... ...This lack of openness, coming on the heels...

“Fidel Castro could have been Cuba’s Elvis!” (Dan Rather.) “Fidel Castro is one hell of a guy! “You people would like him!” (Ted Turner to a capacity crowd at Harvard Law School during a speech in 1997.) “Fidel Castro is old-fashioned, courtly—even paternal, a thoroughly fascinating figure!” (Andrea Mitchell.) “Castro has brought very high literacy and great health-care to his country. His personal magnetism is powerful, his presence is commanding.” (Barbara Walters.) “Viva Fidel! Viva Che!” (Jesse Jackson while arm in arm with Fidel Castro himself in 1984.) An MSNBC Transcript of Lincoln’s Historic Speeches by Daniel Clark “Four years ago our fathers proposition all men. Now we are engaged in testing whether so conceived. We are great on a resting place. It is altogether fitting that we do this. But men, living and dead, can never forget what they did here. It is for us to be unfinished work. It is rather for us the full measure of devotion, that we resolve a new birth.” Well, what do you know? It seems as if those rumors about Abraham Lincoln might have been true after all. He does...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: MSNBC is back at it. We have to temporarily set aside our ban today. MSNBC, NBC, Andrea Mitchell, NBC News Washington, they've doctored another tape. And this time everybody caught 'em. Everybody in the Drive-Bys pointed it out. We'll go back and play the audio for you. They doctored the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin 911 phone call tape to make it appear that Zimmerman was a raging racist, when he wasn't. Now, what they've done, they took a Romney address where he was talking about... well, remember when George H.W. Bush was in the grocery store, saw a...

The evidence and documented testimony is overwhelming. If you study it, there can be no doubt regarding Obama’s ideological preferences and loyalties ... Authorities in Louisiana say a man who starred in the reality television show "Swamp People" died from natural causes. Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley says the parish coroner, Dr. John Fraiche, made that determination after a preliminary autopsy on Mitchell Guist. Guist, who appeared in segments of the "Swamp People" with his brother, Glenn, died after collapsing Monday while working on a houseboat he was building on Belle River. Authorities tell The Advocate of Baton Rouge, La., Guist had just launched the houseboat and was pushing it when he collapsed. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday in Gonzales. She's clearly not even trying anymore. Today on her MSNBC program, Andrea Mitchell used words that clearly were meant to paint the Republican Party as retrograde. After insisting that President George H.W. Bush had supported Planned Parenthood as a congressman decades earlier, she posed the question “So how has the Republican Party devolved to the point where we are now re-litigating all of this?” [video available below the jump] The use of the word "devolved" in this context would be perfectly natural coming from the spokeswoman for a liberal

Mahlon Mitchell quote from interview, "we have this senseless rhetoric that comes forth from the far, far right--the conservative right, that the rich and wealthy are job creators. All of the sudden now we call them job creators, back in the 19th century they called them robber barons. I think what people are saying is that we need to take our government back" Interesting interview to get a peak in the mind of the other side.

US envoys to the region must realize that the problem Palestinians have is Israel's existence, not its borders. Special US envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell, the man charged with reconciling the Israelis and Palestinians, resigned this weekend. Mitchell, a former Senate majority leader in the US, failed to achieve peace between the two sides. There’s no disgrace in that – the line of failed envoys is long and well-known. He successfully brokered peace in Northern Ireland, but couldn’t even get things started in the Middle East. The question is, why? Obviously, it’s impossible to solve a problem without...

The Palestinian Authority's refusal to negotiate with Israel is what led to the failure to reach a final status agreement, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told U.S. Special Middle East Envoy George Mitchell. Netanyahu spoke with Mitchell by phone Saturday after learning that Mitchell had submitted his resignation to President Barack Obama. The prime minister told Mitchell he was sorry to hear that he was resigning, and expressed his disappointment that PA officials refused to come to the negotiating table. The PA leadership had “set countless preconditions that made [the envoy's] work difficult, and at the end of the process even...

George Mitchell is leaving his job as Mideast envoy by telling President Obama in a letter that he supports his "vision of comprehensive peace in the Middle East." In a statement, Obama said Mitchell has "contributed immeasurably" to bringing about a two-state solution between the Israelis and the Palestinians. David Hale, Mitchell's deputy, will fill the role as an acting envoy when Mitchell leaves on May 20. Obama's full statement: "Over the past two and a half years, George Mitchell has worked as a tireless advocate for peace as the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East. His deep commitment...

George Mitchell, who successfully negotiated the Good Friday peace agreement that ended years of sectarian conflict in Northern Ireland, is leaving his post as U.S. Mideast envoy -- unable to duplicate his Ulster triumph. It wasn't exactly his fault; the deck simply was stacked against him. President Obama and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas saw to it that there was nothing left for him to do. Mitchell's assignment was to mediate an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but almost from the beginning he was blindsided by his boss in the White House and by Abbas's refusal to negotiate a realistic peace...

Covering the budget debate on Capitol Hill and the conflict in Libya, Andrea Mitchell spun two serious policy issues as examples of race-baiting. On the April 5 edition of “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” the MSNBC anchor lamented that Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) proposed 2012 budget would ravage black and Hispanic communities. “Representative Paul Ryan’s 2012 budget, released today, includes reforms, what they call reforms, and also big cuts in housing assistance, job training, and food stamps,” warned Mitchell. “All of which would have a very big impact on particularly poor and minority communities, some say.” Mitchell was mum as Rep. Emanuel...

After meeting Mubarak in Cairo, US envoy says Washington still aiming for "eventual framework agreement." US Mideast envoy George Mitchell said Wednesday that he intends to pursue "substantive" negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, AFP reported. One may think that someone as well connected as long-time Washington correspondent and MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell might also connect the dots. After an unseasonably rough DC winter occurring right in the midst of the ClimateGate scandal, she would be aware of doubt being cast over the idea of manmade global warming. But if you want evidence her mind is made up regardless of any of this, you could detect from her reaction to a report from Politco's Jim VandeHei that some Republican candidates are using the climate change debate to advance their campaigns. Arizona Democrats facing tough reelection races are distancing themselves from the Obama administration as it prepares to file a lawsuit against the state over its controversial immigration law. Rep. Attempt to soften message? Yes, the man has an impossible job. But making himself complicit in the Palestinian Authority’s desire to have it both ways on terrorism — talk up PA security cooperation in English but celebrate terrorism in Arabic — isn’t going to make it any easier. As I wrote a couple of days ago, one of the Obama administration’s diplomatic rules appears to be that the Palestinians will never be publicly criticized. Israel, of course, gets publicly criticized by the administration on a near weekly basis. Predictably, this has given the PA room to engage in its favorite double game. Over the...

Arab honour is at the root of Arab rejectionism and intransigence. It prevents Arabs from accepting blame or compromising. It also prevents Arabs from losing land to Israel or ending the conflict. Arab honour is closely linked to Islamic concepts of jihad and dhimmitude. Arab honour impells them to seek domination. Failure to dominate, dishonours them. Accepting responsibility is an anathema to their honour.. Muslim violence against the publication in Denmark of cartoons featuring Mohammed is a prime example of their refusal to accept the rule of law or western norms that are at odds with what their honour demands....
