At 1:14 in the video at link, notice how Brown approaches the store owner then pushes him hard. Brown then moves to exit the store then turns around to approach the store owner a SECOND time. According to some witnesses, this 're-approach' is the same technique used against Officer Wilson. Allegedly, Brown approached Wilson attempting to push him back into his patrol car then punching him in the face, then walks away only to approach Wilson a SECOND time.

Kuwaiti police arrested five Omani women after security cameras showed they have robbed several gold shops in the oil-rich Gulf emirate. The five used to go into jewellery shops with a little boy and pretend to try some items to detract the attention of workers before leaving the shop with their loot. Police had been baffled by the camera’s failure to identify their faces before they decided to trick the women into falling in a trap. “Police published fake attractive offers for jewelry and cosmetics on an Instagram account they set up for this purpose. They then installed several cameras...

One female lawyer made an interesting comment back in 1990. Commenting on how many of the female lawyers in the American Bar Association have had abortions: “I’m practically the only one of my friends who hasn’t had an abortion. We’re talking about lots of women in this room…” Sandra J P Dennis Richmond Times – Dispatch August 11, 1990 It’s true that this quote is dated, but it makes one wonder. how has the high abortion rate affected the way these lawyers argued about cases relating to abortion? Are the statistics similar in 2014?

"If you don't want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground," warns Officer Sunil Dutta of the Los Angeles Police Department, "just do what I tell you." The thing is, Officer Dutta (pictured) is also an Adjunct Professor of Homeland Security and Criminal Justice at Colorado Technical University. And he uttered those words not in the heat of the moment, but in an opinion piece in the Washington Post responding to widespread criticism of police attitudes and tactics currently on display in Ferguson, Missouri, but increasingly common nationwide. Dutta continues: Don't argue with...
  • Egypt Urges US Restraint Over Missouri Unrest

Egypt on Tuesday urged U.S. authorities to exercise restraint in dealing with racially charged demonstrations in Ferguson, Missouri - echoing language Washington used to caution Egypt as it cracked down on Islamist protesters last year. It is unusual for Egypt to criticize such a major donor, and it was not immediately clear why the government would have taken such a step. Ties between Washington and Cairo were strained after Egyptian security forces killed hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood supporters following the army's ousting of freely elected President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry's statement on the unrest in...

MISSION, Texas (AP) — On a recent moonlit night, Border Patrol agents began rounding up eight immigrants hiding in and around a canal near the Rio Grande. A state trooper soon arrived to help. Then out of the darkness emerged seven more armed men in fatigues. Agents assumed the camouflaged crew that joined in pulling the immigrants from the canal's milky green waters was a tactical unit from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Only later did they learn that the men belonged to the Texas Militia, a group that dresses like a SWAT team and carries weapons but has...

  • Why Rick Perry’s indictment could be a political blessing in disguise

Less than a week after Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) was indicted by a grand jury on two felony counts, he may be in an even stronger political position than he was before the charges hit. Several prominent Republicans have spoken out on Perry's behalf. Conservative activists in Iowa and New Hampshire aren't shying away. Even a well-known Democratic strategist has suggested the case against him may be flimsy. For a politician who is openly weighing another run for president, it's a welcome turn of events: While politicians embroiled in legal fights of this magnitude typically find few public allies,...

The school teachers lounge is a respite from more than just bratty kids. It’s a safe zone from the long arm of Michelle Obama’s food police. Students are already revolting against the newly-implemented school snack regulations that affect what is sold in vending machines. They will probably be equally upset to learn the vending machine just across the hall – in the teachers lounge – is exempt from the regulations.

Catholics who are endorsing this should know where the money is going. Fr. Michael Duffy explains: We’ve all seen it, and many of you have probably done it. Many celebrities, politicians and even priests have done it. There is a great amount of good that comes about from furthering awareness of such a terrible disease. Since July 29th, $5.5 million has been raised for ALS research. The problem that I have the with ALS Ice Bucket challenge is that the ALS Association is a supporter of embryonic stem cell research. • Sleep Hack: Keep Your Feet Outside Your Covers

Introducing a slightly odd but potentially very useful sleep hack: Keep one foot, or both feet, outside of your blanket. It could help you both sleep better and fall asleep faster, a sleep researcher explained to Science of Us. I started thinking about this recently when I was idly chatting with a buddy about how (relatively) nice and cool it had been recently in New York, and how much nicer it is to sleep when it’s cooler outside. He replied with what is apparently his formula for a perfect night’s sleep: “One foot out from under the blanket and a...

Guest post by Kristinn Taylor cnn darren wilson Is the media trying to get Ferguson police office Darren Wilson lynched? CNN broadcast a report Friday that showed the house, including the street number, of the Ferguson police officer who police say shot Mike Brown. The officer has been in hiding due to death threats since the shooting last Saturday. His name, Darren Wilson, was just released Friday morning. Another news outlet apologized for broadcasting video of Wilson’s home while others have virtually drawn a map to Wilson’s house for those bent on vengeance. Yahoo News named the community Wilson where...

Anti-Israel activists claimed that their protest Saturday at the Port of Oakland successfully blocked an Israeli ship from the Zim cargo company from docking. However, the ship was still far away from the port at the time of the protest, and the International Longshoremen and Warehousemen Unions (ILWU), which has supported such protests before, is less inclined to participate in boycotts of Israeli shipping this time, Al Jazeera reports. "Let the world register that on 16, August 2014, we prevented the apartheid Zim liner for the second time from docking and unloading anywhere on the West Coast," declared activists from...

Rick Perry’s potential 2016 GOP rivals on Saturday rushed to the Texas governor’s defense in the wake of his indictment on allegations of abusing his office. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush all came out in strong defense of Perry, who on Saturday said he would fight the “farce” indictment. Cruz, who previously served as a top lawyer for the Lone Star state, blasted the prosecution as “politically motivated” and lit into what he deemed as the “sad history” of the prosecutors, a reference to previous legal efforts aimed at Texas Republicans.
