After states legalize the sale of weed for recreational use, on-the-job injuries rise among younger workers, new research shows. U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics for 2006 through 2020 show that legal "recreational marijuana sales were associated with a 10% increase in workplace injuries among individuals aged 20 to 34 years," the study authors concluded. They note that prior research involving older workers did not show this effect. In fact, older workers' injury rates typically decline after recreational weed is made legal in their state, perhaps because older folk are only using their marijuana to ease pain. In contrast, the rise...

Doctors are free to prescribe ivermectin to treat COVID-19, a lawyer representing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said this week. "FDA explicitly recognizes that doctors do have the authority to prescribe ivermectin to treat COVID," Ashley Cheung Honold, a Department of Justice lawyer representing the FDA, said during oral arguments on Aug. 8 in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. The government is defending the FDA's repeated exhortations to people to not take ivermectin for COVID-19, including a post that said "Stop it." .... The case was brought by three doctors who allege the FDA...

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that persons aged 12 to 17 face a heightened risk of myocarditis, a potentially fatal form of heart inflammation, and a related condition called pericarditis following injection of the Covid vaccine. The frequency with which these ailments occurred should have triggered a warning for persons in this age group to avoid getting the "jab." Instead, many schools required students get these vaccinations in order to be allowed to attend class. Dr. Peter McCullough, who was frequently censored and mocked for questioning the widespread mania to force these inadequately tested...

Missouri lawmakers passed legislation that prevents state licensing boards from disciplining doctors who prescribe ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.Sponsored by Rep. Brenda Kay Shields (R-Mo.), HB 2149 also bars pharmacists from questioning doctors or disputing patients regarding the usage of such drugs and their efficacy. With a convincing 130–4 vote in the House, HB 2149 passed both chambers on May 12 and currently heads to the office of Gov. Mike Parson to be potentially signed into law.“The board shall not deny, revoke, or suspend, or otherwise take any disciplinary action against, a certificate of registration or authority, permit, or license required by this...
  • Anti-parasitic drug prevents bacterial complications of scabies on mass scale (Ivermectin)

An anti-parasitic drug, delivered on a mass scale, can prevent potentially dangerous bacterial complications of scabies, according to a study. Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by a mite that burrows into the skin. The highly contagious disease causes itching, which can lead to complications such as severe skin infections and serious bacterial infections, bloodstream infections, kidney failure and heart disease. Ivermectin has been used for decades in the treatment of parasitic infections. After the team of researchers proved ivermectin mass drug administration can be used to prevent the transmission of scabies, Dr. Li Jun Thean administered the anti-parasitic...

Scottish researchers at the University of Edinburgh have tested a “Trojan Horse” drug that can kill cancer cells and bacterial cells without damaging nearby tissues. Because cancer cells need to consume high amounts of food for energy to continue to reproduce, these researchers decided to target their eating habits, with very encouraging results:Scientists at the University of Edinburgh combined the tiny cancer-killing molecule SeNBD with a chemical food compound to trick malignant cells into ingesting it.The peer-reviewed experimental study was carried out on zebrafish and human cells, but researchers say more studies are needed to confirm if it is a...

A bid to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana for recreational use moved one step away from the governor’s desk Tuesday, after a Senate committee narrowly agreed to send the proposal to the full Senate for debate. The proposal by Democratic Rep. Cedric Glover, of Shreveport, would make possession of up to 14 grams of marijuana — a half-ounce — a misdemeanor carrying a fine up to $100, even for repeat offenses, and end the possibility of jail time. “Possession of small amounts of marijuana should not lead you to jail, and it should not lead you to becoming...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of two anti-malaria drugs to treat patients infected by the new coronavirus. (EUA) That marked the first EUA for a drug related to COVID-19 in the U.S., according to the statement. Currently, there are no specific drugs for COVID-19 which, as shown...

The word's out on the street. People addicted to heroin or prescription painkillers are passing the word. There's a new treatment where you don't have to go through such a miserable withdrawal. It sounds too good to be true. Some are calling it a "miracle drug."...(snip) "The vast majority of patients - especially if they've been through withdrawal before - expect four days of hell," says Dr. Rick Caesar, Serenity Lane's medical co-director. Over the last two months, he has treated close to 30 patients using the new drug. After going through withdrawal with it, he says, most "can't believe...
