Windmills use an enormous amount of copper. For example, a single wind turbine can contain 335 tons of steel, 4.7 tons of copper, 3 tons of aluminum and 700-plus pounds of rare earth minerals. ... In fact, wind and solar energy use more copper than conventional forms of energy, such as coal, natural gas, and nuclear power plants. Conventional power plants require about one ton of copper to produced one megawatt of electricity, whereas wind and solar can require between three to five tons per megawatt. ... Make no mistake, switching from reliable sources of electricity like coal, natural gas,...

Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty announced he is running for governor Thursday, attempting a restoration after eight years out of office that saw his DFL successor move the state in a more progressive direction at odds with Pawlenty’s tenure. Pawlenty, a longtime Eagan resident, served two four-year terms beginning in 2003. The South St. Paul native built an image of a hockey-playing “Sam’s Club Republican” who could win suburban, middle-class voters in a Democratic-leaning state. “My campaign for governor will focus on charting a better way forward for Minnesota families who see health care premiums skyrocketing, paychecks not increasing very fast,...

MADISON, Wisconsin, April 4, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The Federal Elections Commission fined Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin for failing to report $116,898 in contributions to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Democratic Senate candidate Russ Feingold. According to FEC documents, the abortion affiliate’s political arm reported $133,305.04 in expenditures on its October 2016 quarterly report, but that sum included two payments of $58,449.04 apiece, dated August 31, 2016, but not submitted in any previous reports. One was a donation to Clinton, who lost to President Donald Trump, and the other a donation to Feingold, a former Wisconsin senator who unsuccessfully...

The police officer who jumped into action during a 2016 attack at Crossroads Center in St. Cloud was honored on Thursday. Avon police Officer Jason Falconer received a Congressional Badge of Bravery for his actions on that September 2016 day. Falconer was off duty when 22-year-old Dahir Adan stabbed and injured 10 people at the mall. Falconer shot and killed Adan to stop the attack. Before last month’s special congressional election in Pennsylvania, U.S. President Donald Trump, who ridiculed his rivals in the 2016 election as “Liddle Marco,” “Lyin’ Ted,” and “Crooked Hillary,” tried it again, tagging Democratic candidate Conor Lamb as “Lamb the Sham.” This time, the tactic failed. But it illustrated a penchant for often brutally effective nicknames that Democrats are bracing for Trump to employ when he campaigns for Republicans in November’s congressional elections. All 435 members of the House and a third of the 100-member Senate will be up for grabs. A Democratic takeover of one or both chambers could derail...

The Democratic National Committee’s Black Caucus chairwoman Virgie Rollins said Saturday that she used to be a member of the Black Panther Party. DNC vice chairman Keith Ellison was listening and appeared to notice the Republican tracker who was secretly taping the conversation. About a minute after Rollins first mentioned the Black Panthers, Ellison seems to look directly at the tracker and began whispering with someone next to him, but before the video cut off, it captured Rollins’ comments. "I’m a former Black Panther," Rollins said. "And when we talked about the movement, as a former Black Panther with Angela...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A group of gun rights activists are rallying at the Minnesota capitol Saturday. The group, Minnesota Gun Rights, says it rejects the notion that new gun control laws will save lives, and is rallying at the capitol to voice its displeasure with the state legislature. “Speaker Daudt and his leadership team have completely dropped the ball for gun owners,” said Minnesota Gun Rights Director Ben Dorr. “Instead of passing pro-gun legislation that would actually save lives, like Stand-Your-Ground law, they’ve tucked their tails and run away.”

WASHINGTON, March 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, tonight condemned President Trump's move to replace White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster with John Bolton, a notorious Islamophobe who as a history of ties to anti-Muslim extremists and organizations. "We urge Americans across the political spectrum to speak out against the appointment of John Bolton as White House National Security Adviser because of his ties to anti-Muslim bigots and his promotion of extremist views that will inevitably harm our nation and that could lead to unnecessary and...

President Trump announced on Thursday that National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster will resign in April. Schiff panicked after Trump announced John Bolton will be replacing McMaster as his National Security Advisor. Just like Trump’s new lawyer, Joe DiGenova, John Bolton believes Obama’s FBI conspired to frame Trump. Schiff tweeted: John Bolton once suggested Russian hack of DNC may have been a false flag operation by Obama Admin. He joins Joe diGenova, another Fox contributor, who thinks the FBI conspired to frame the President.

With one presidential decision, America gained one of its boldest National Security Advisers, and lost one of its best cable news guests. Roughly an hour after John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., was named as the replacement for the outgoing adviser H.R. McMaster, he appeared on Fox News with “The Story” host Martha MacCallum, who was loaded with great questions for a man known for his blunt assessments of the world scene and sharp views on the policies that best serve America. She learned quickly that the new position changes everything for Bolton. Amid stories of inner-circle discord...

The Winter Olympics' closing ceremonies also concluded North Korea's propaganda effort to divert attention from its nuclear-weapons and ballistic-missile programs. And although President Trump announced more economic sanctions against Pyongyang last week, he also bluntly presaged "Phase Two" of U.S. action against the Kim regime, which "may be a very rough thing." CIA Director Mike Pompeo said in January that Pyongyang was within "a handful of months" of being able to deliver nuclear warheads to the U.S. How long must America wait before it acts to eliminate that threat? Pre-emption opponents argue that action is not justified because Pyongyang does...

FOR years, experts worried that the Middle East would face an uncontrollable nuclear-arms race if Iran ever acquired weapons capability. Given the region’s political, religious and ethnic conflicts, the logic is straightforward. As in other nuclear proliferation cases like India, Pakistan and North Korea, America and the West were guilty of inattention when they should have been vigilant. But failing to act in the past is no excuse for making the same mistakes now. All presidents enter office facing the cumulative effects of their predecessors’ decisions. But each is responsible for what happens on his watch.

The Left's romance with the Islamic Republic ensues. The Senate debated on Tuesday a resolution introduced by Vermont Socialist Bernie Sanders that would require the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Yemen. The surprising support the resolution won from 44 U.S. Senators handed a big win to Iran, which is engaged in a hot war with Saudi Arabia on the Arabian Peninsula. And it was a huge slap in the face to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who was meeting with President Trump in the White House as the Senate debated the motion on the floor. It also showed the...

When a 39-year-old met a man in a St. Paul parking lot to buy an iPhone Thursday, it quickly turned into a robbery. The man put a gun to his side and snatched $500 from him, police said Friday. But the man being robbed was a permit-to-carry holder, and he pulled out his own gun and shot at the suspect about 5:30 p.m., said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a St. Paul police spokesman. He later told police he feared for his life and fired in self-defense, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday against the alleged robber. The suspect ran away....

A young woman from Minnesota lived out every teen driver's worst nightmare on Wednesday. During her driver's license exam, the 17-year-old crashed her car into a building. No serious injuries were reported, police in the town of Buffalo said. What went wrong is something that goes wrong for most new drivers, though hopefully not under the watch of a driving test examiner. The 17-year-old Buffalo resident put the car into drive, instead of reverse. Rather than backing out of the parking space, the teen plowed straight into the building that housed the exam station office.

Political correctness put her in the way of a “nervous, jumpy” Muslim cop who took her life. A forty-year-old Australian woman named Justine Damond called 911 in Minneapolis Saturday night to report what she thought might be a rape; when police arrived, she approached the police car, and a Minneapolis police officer named Mohamed Noor shot her dead. Since then, Noor has refused to be interviewed by investigators, but has spoken to friends about what happened and why. The more Noor and those who know him have spoken, the more it becomes clear: Justine Damond was a casualty of “Islamophobia.”...
