Police officers in Michigan found 14 containers of human tissue and other evidence in a obstetrician/gynecologist’s car that indicate he may be providing illegal abortions. The Michigan state Senate unanimously passed a seven-bill package on Wednesday to require more transparency, and a higher standard of evidence before law enforcement agencies can take ownership of seized cash and property alleged to have been obtained illegally. A new report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the personal income of Michigan residents grew 3.7 percent between the second quarter of 2014 and the second quarter of 2015. Even more impressive, from 2012 through the second quarter of 2015 personal income here has increased by 9.2 percent here (from $382 billion to $417 billion). A Detroit police lieutenant reported that he worked the equivalent of nearly 17.3 hours on all 365 days of the city’s most recent fiscal year, according to records obtained from the city. The depth of the Detroit school district’s financial troubles can be staggering. As of last June, the district owes $238.2 million it borrowed to cover routine operating expenses, a burden that has received some media attention.
